5 Lightweight Pants I’m Wearing In Place Of Shorts

I’m someone who loves wearing pants in the summertime.

Don’t get me wrong, shorts have a place in my closet (and slowly, but surely, I’m beginning to embrace dresses), but I think pants are some of the most fun to style up in warmer weather.

The trick to a good pair of summer pants? They need to be breezy, lightweight, and easy to move in.

My Favorite Linen & Cotton Pants for Summer

You’ve heard us talk up the Crinkle Gauze Wide-Leg Pants from Gap numerous times around here. They’re simply the best pants for summer (especially if you have long legs like me!!). These pants are by far the softest in my collection, making them not only great for daily wear but wonderful for a little late afternoon nap…hopefully in the hammock 🙂

While cotton gauze is my favorite material to rock in warmer weather, I’m still definitely a fan of linen. My all-around favorite linen pant goes to Athleta’s Retreat Linen Wide Leg. This pant drapes beautifully, has well-hidden zipper pockets, and split hems for easy wear with any shoe.

Reformation’s Ethan Pant gets my award for the most unique summer pant I’ve found. It has an extra wide, billowy leg with on-trend cargo pockets that I find extremely fun to wear (perfect for the beach or pool days). I loved them so much that I scooped up the linen version, too — which, needless to say, are the most unique linen pant in my stack.

Last but not least, the pant that would be the most versatile in terms of wearability for the beach OR the office, is Gap’s Linen-Cotton Blend Pull-On Pant. These are a bit more tailored — they have a zipper, a button and clasp at the waist, and a nice structure that feels more professional when styled up — but are just as breezy and comfortable for a weekend away.

If you’re looking to hang out while I chat more about each pair (I’m also trying them on!) check out the video below!

5 Lightweight Pants Perfect For Summer

Gap Crinkle Gauze Wide Leg Pant – TTS, but runs extra long! I own these pants in two colors and have worn them on repeat more than anything in my closet over the past few months, I can’t recommend them enough.

Athleta Retreat Linen Pant – Run a bit big, in my opinion, I’m between a size 6 and 8 in pants and a 6 (tall) fits wonderfully while still being loose and comfortable. The split hems are my favorite and make them so easy to wear with any shoe!

Reformation Ethan Linen Pant – A fun, funky, extra wide leg, these linen pants are really great to pair with a fitted top (my go-to is this bodysuit).

Reformation Ethan Pant – The non-linen version of the pant above, I love how the fabric reminds me of throwback basketball or track pants. These pants are TTS in the waist but as I mentioned, they are very wide.

Gap Linen Cotton Pull-On Pant – These pants are the most versatile, as they can easily be thrown on for summer office looks (while still being great for the weekend)! They are chic, slightly preppy, and very comfortable (TTS).
