Turns out, maternity swimwear is a pretty polarizing topic. Some people swear by it, others hate it. I kind of fall somewhere in the middle.
Both of my kids were summer babies, so I spent a whole lot of time in swimsuits when I was pregnant. If I was just hanging out around my house, I typically stuck to wearing my old two-pieces. (Low-rise bottoms were the predominant style then, and they work really well with a bump.) But if I was going to be wearing a swimsuit in public, I grabbed a suit specifically made for maternity. Between needing the extra support for the girls and wanting to have my belly covered, I was just more comfortable that way.
10 Classic + Cute Black Maternity Swimsuits For Moms-To-Be
My number-one must-have for swimwear has always been an all-black one-piece bathing suit, and it was no different when I was pregnant. A classic black swimsuit is always a good idea, and it’s where I would start if I was on the hunt for a cute suit to wear with a bump. I’ve rounded up 10 of my favorites below to help you find the perfect one. (And if color is more your thing, stay tuned — I’m working on that roundup too!)

1. Cache Couer Porto Vecchio Maternity 1-Piece Swimsuit
I like the ruched sides, shoulder ties, and gold details on this one-piece swimsuit. And although it isn’t specified on Nordstrom’s website, but the shoulder ties and side ruching are adjustable, so this one will fit a changing body. Also in red and teal.
2. V-Neck Ruffle Back-Tie Maternity 1-Piece Swimsuit
Target always has really cute suits, and its maternity swimwear line is no exception. I love the back of this V-neck swimsuit — it has adjustable straps and a lace-up back tie.
3. ASOS Maternity Deep V-Neck Tie-Back Swimsuit
ASOS was my number-one place to search for suits — actually, most of my maternity wardrobe — when I was pregnant. It offers free shipping AND returns, and has the cutest maternity clothes.
This black swimsuit has adjustable ties and a high-cut leg, and I love the plunge neckline. (Would make for a great nursing-friendly swimsuit as well.)
4. Old Navy Maternity Textured Twist-Front Nursing Tankini
This maternity tankini from Old Navy has adjustable straps that can be unclasped in the front front for easy nursing and removable cups. I’d wear this one as a shirt/layering piece as well! (It’s hard to find cute nursing tops.)
5. Beach Bump Scallop Trim Maternity Swim Top
This maternity swim top has a lace-up back that can be adjusted for tightness and (non-removable) pads for coverage. This one has lots of good reviews too!
6. SUMMERSUNSHINE Maternity 1-Piece Bathing Suit
Reviewers love this one-piece suit from Amazon, and it comes in a ton of colors too. The thicker straps help support a larger chest, and the pads are removable.
7. Cache Coeur Bloom 1-Shoulder 1-Piece Maternity Swimsuit
This one-shoulder bathing suit has a sewn-in bra for support, and the strap is adjustable and removable. Also in a bunch of colors!
8. Gap Maternity Recycled Rib 1-Piece Swimsuit
The straps are adjustable on this square-neck maternity swimsuit from Gap, and the back is open with a tie for the right fit. (“Contemporary coverage,” which looks pretty full-coverage to me…)
9. Old Navy Maternity Convertible 1-Shoulder 1-Piece Swimsuit
The smaller strap is adjustable and removable, so this Old Navy swimsuit can be worn as a one-shoulder suit as well with full coverage on bottom.
10. Kimi And Kai Nancy 1-Piece Maternity Swimsuit
I love the retro vibe of this maternity swimsuit from Kimi and Kai. It has a halter neck tie and side ruching and also comes in navy. (I love the red lips with this one!)
I hope this roundup was helpful! Let us know if we missed any of your favorite black maternity swimsuits in the comments…
XOXO,
Scotti
This one is for the Pinners…
