I’m just going to come out and say it…I’m a designer label-loving gal, and I cannot lie. And this year, I was lucky enough to make several designer purchases.
I love Prada, Gucci, Balenciaga, and so many designer brands that make impeccably unique pieces. And my biggest obsession of 2021 had to be Jacquemus — a designer “Taking The Fashion World By Storm,” according to Vogue. Jacquemus designs some of the most structurally interesting and gorgeous bags I have ever seen.
What I love about designer pieces is how unique they can be — some are like nothing else on the market. My designer items have become some of my most-worn pieces of the year. I wear my Gucci ghost ring every single day and the cost-per-wear right now is less than a dollar a day. And I’ve worn my Prada sneakers more times than I can count. I find that when I make these larger investment purchases, I feel more compelled to wear the pieces and they elevate my highly neutral wardrobe.
I love my designer pieces and feel so incredibly grateful that I am a financially stable boss babe who was able to make some of these big-ticket purchases.
Now let’s get onto my top ten designer splurges of 2021!
I fell in love with David Yurman back when I was in college working several jobs, and let’s face it, highly envious of my more wealthy classmates who were rocking Yurman and Van Cleef and Arpels on the daily. I went to a highly affluent preppy college and it formulated my desire to own some of the pieces that I now do today. My Yurman necklace was one of my first designer purchases of the year and I love the intricate elements of the necklace. The classic Yurman roping paired with solid silver links is gorgeous, but the icing on the cake for me is the singular rose gold link in the center of the necklace. This will be a forever piece for me that I hope to one day pass down to my future daughter.
My most-worn shoes of 2021 are most likely my Gucci slides that I bought a few years ago, but a very close second are my Prada Lug Platform Sneakers. Since I am a 5’2″ shorty, I tend to have a serious attraction to shoes with some height. The extra few inches seriously help me out, and because I wear heels and platforms 90% of the time, people are always so surprised by my short stature when I am not wearing a shoe with an added heel. I personally think these Prada Lug Platform Sneakers are iconic and the white color makes them feel more timeless.
These are the newest addition to my designer shoe collection and let me tell you all — I am obsessed with them! I actually am in love with the sherpa sneaker trend right now and think they are such a fun winter statement. Every time I have worn these everyone has commented on how much they love them.
4 | Gucci Ghost Ring
This ring is such a cutie and I wear it every day! If you are looking for a designer gift that won’t totally break the bank this would be a great one to consider. ps. I get so many questions about the piece on my ring finger, and I purchased it from a jeweler in Minneapolis.
I love a good structured bag and Jacquemus is known for their structurally stunning bag designs. This bag is 100% my vibe, but truly, it’s the mixed metal chain for me! I am seriously in love with it! This was what I told myself would be my Christmas present.
GANNI is a quintessential Zillennial brand. It’s trendy, yet classic, high fashion, but also sustainable, and seriously such a vibe. For those of you who are wondering what the heck Zillennials are, they are Millennials right on the cusp of being Gen-Zers, which is totally me! The GANNI recycled nylon jacket is the perfect minimalist statement, and while certainly I am not a minimalist, I fell in love with the jacket while I was in Dallas.
When it comes to plus-size, high-end designer clothes, there are very few brands that offer clothes above a size 14. Which is why I personally think that Good American is the cream of the crop when it comes to plus-size designer jeans. This year’s favorite for me — hands-down — had to be the GA Good ’90s jeans. I love how they are perfectly oversized and pool at the ankles.
OMG this dress literally arrived the night before I left for Wisconsin and I have yet to take a proper picture in it…but let me tell you all I tried it on today and it is EPIC! Stay-tuned for a few stunning snaps of me in this babe soon! The fit is absolutely incredible, fits TTS and the popcorn design of the dress hides everything — no shapewear needed!
I bought this YSL bag from one of my favorite label-loving influencers Ranti of Ranti In Review who is one of the chicest women I have ever encountered. Her fashion sense is impeccable, and her designer collection is like no other. When I saw she was selling a few pieces from her collection, I knew I wanted one and landed on this gorgeous yellow bag. It’s only available on designer resell apps like theRealReal but this one is similar.
10 | 11 Honore Jada Skirt
11Honore is the only exclusive plus-size designer retailer on the market and they’ve collaborated with many high-end designers like Dolce and Gabbana, VEDA and BAACAL. This year they launched their own in-house brand, and the Jada skirt is one of my absolute favorites. If you are looking to shop 11Honore for yourself you can use the code kathonoreroll15 for 15% off your first purchase.
I love all of these pieces and I have to say they are all keepers in my forever closet. Let me know in the comments which one is your favorite.
