I’ve been working on a few new outfit formulas for outside. I’ve always been a fan of zeroing in on one killer combo (this jacket, these boots, that hat), but I wanted a fresh take from my usual, which has been worn on repeat for several years now. Given the current state of the world, that ‘fresh take’ has to actually work for long periods outside, so, ideally, I wanted something both warmer than my leather jacket, yet more interesting than my black puffer.
Put this faux-leather Abercrombie puffer jacket high on your wishlist, Gang. It’s so freaking good.
ps. This post has been updated for Winter 2021/22. Happily, almost all pieces are back in stock!
These puffers come in a wide range of colors and textures (including velvet and faux fur), but I’m especially into the various shades of brown — each one is gorgeous. And brown tones are rich enough to work with my favorite black boots (the ones I wear with thick wool socks). I love how these pieces breathe new life into my ol’ skinny jeans, making them look modern again.
puffer: Abercrombie Faux-Leather Mini Puffer (size small) – I’m so obsessed with this jacket that I miiiiight pick it up in faux fur or velvet, too. But if you only want one, the faux-leather is 100% worth it. It’s SO freaking good.
jeans: old rag & bone Ninas…but this wash (in the same style) is very similar.
boots: Vagabond Cosmo 2.0 – completely re-stocked in all sizes!
bag: Clare V. Crossbody Bag – Mine is long gone, but this one is similar (and on-sale at Nordstrom!). That said…my two most-worn Clare V styles are this black one, and this tan one. Clare V is just quirky enough to be truly timeless.
mittens: old, but this pair of Isotoner mittens is really cute and lined (I swear by lined mittens — it makes a huge difference)…or OOO…this pair (also lined). Dang, Kohl’s does cute mittens really well. Also these ridiculous faux fur ones, haha. With….wait for it…YES: matching earmuffs. OMG — somebody call Scotti.
I love when I have a formula figured out — it makes getting ready so much easier. I basically just wear the same thing all winter (high-rise skinny jeans + tucked-in sweater) so having a chic outerwear combo means I can get out the door fast…but still feel alright.
My next step is to to create another outfit formula with this jacket and warmer winter boots. I’ll play around.
