I’ve never been one for the rules of fashion.

In fact, I have always preferred breaking them. It’s where my creativity soars.

A lot of the rules I learned about growing up are now, thankfully, pretty outdated. I remember first hearing of the widespread belief that black and brown shouldn’t be mixed (that’s a favorite combo of mine), the idea that one should avoid mixing prints, and how you should never wear socks with sandals (guilty). 

But one of the more popular fashion laws I remember swirling around was “no white after Labor Day.” 

While I always wanted to rebel against this particular fashion rule, I admittedly never owned much white clothing up until the past few years.

Earlier this summer, I found two dreamy — yet very different — pairs of white jeans that I have ended up wearing more than I would have ever guessed.

I want to wear these jeans with everything.

Now that autumn is upon us, I’m actually very excited to keep white denim in the mix. It feels like I have tapped into a whole new realm of possibilities in terms of outfits, beyond the typical fall fashion I always see (and personally gravitate toward).

White Jeans, A Striped Sweater & Comfort Shoes: My No-Fuss, Coastal-Inspired Fall Outfit Formula

It’s practically effortless how perfectly coastal-chic white denim looks paired with an oversized sweater. 

While I haven’t yet pulled out all of my sweaters (I’m trying to save most of them for when we’re closer to the holiday season), the few that I’ve begun styling up on cooler days all look so incredibly good with white jeans.

More Striped Sweaters For Fall

I know for me it can feel as though a specific equation is required for finding the right blue-wash jeans to pair with your tops. White denim, on the other hand, sets a clean backdrop to make the sweater and shoes the main characters.

Styling white jeans has been shockingly easy.

As someone who doesn’t typically use outfit “formulas” when getting dressed, I must admit I’ve created a good one here that I plan on repeating throughout the next season. 

I have a handful of striped sweaters in my closet that I love pairing with these jeans for a seaside aesthetic — although any sweater works, striped or not. I absolutely love a creamy white/beige sweater for a monochromatic look too. Then, I add my favorite comfort shoes (that aren’t yet boots), and I’m set.

Before it gets truly cold out, I’ll be switching between my trusty UGG slip-ons, Birkenstock Boston clogs and a few classic sneakers. Each one gives a unique twist to the overall look.
