Winter is in full swing and I’m already looking forward to Valentine’s Day. I don’t remember what we did on Valentine’s Day last year (or the year before, for that matter), but that needs to change immediately.
If the last couple of years have taught me anything, it’s to celebrate whenever possible. So this year, we are going to celebrate the crap out of Valentine’s Day. It’s going to be the perfect excuse to rock a red lip, buy some red roses and put on a sexy-but-still-warm outfit that’s perfect for a winter date night.

Yes, This Is A Sexy Puffer
I’m obsessed with this jacket. It’s hard to find a puffer coat that you could describe as sexy, but I think this one is as close as it comes. It isn’t too oversized (definitely a problem with puffers) and the nipped-in waist along with the strong shoulders and stand up collar give it a nice shape that actually accentuates curves. (And that collar keeps you nice and warm!)
I would 100% wear this on a fancy winter date night, but it’s also warm enough to wear on the ski hill as well. Wind-resistant and water-repellant (with stretch thumbhole cuffs that I love), this is a super-versatile winter jacket. It does run a bit small. I’m usually a small and sized up to a medium per reviews and it was perfect. It comes in a number of colors (and the evergreen is particularly gorg!).

Show A Little Skin Without Sacrificing Warmth
So what to wear underneath said sexy puffer coat mid-winter when the snow is coming down and the wind is bone-chillingly cold?? A turtleneck, obviously…but with sexy little cut-outs that show a little skin without sacrificing warmth.

I could totally wear this turtleneck bodysuit without a bra underneath (the fabric is thick enough to go without), but I thought it looked cute with a little peek of my cami underneath. (I’m wearing my go-to Hanro bra cami that makes winter layering SO much easier. It smooths everything out and gives the girls a lift…so there’s just a hint of cleavage through the slit in front.) A hint of lace or a peek of color would also be a perfect base layer for Valentine’s day.

I love that there’s a matching slit on the back of the bodysuit, too; it’s slightly unexpected and gives just enough of a peek of skin so a normal bra would still work just as well as a cami (or nothing!) underneath. The fabric is thick and stretchy, so it’s warmer than your average bodysuit and the thong closure means no visible panty lines. (Plus it’s SUPER comfortable.)
Good Jeans That Flatter
And, you guys, Good American has got the sexy denim thing down. Anytime I feel like showing off a little curve, the Good Waist jeans style is what I reach for. They don’t gap at the waist and have enough room for my booty without being too tight. And this particular wash is so good….I love the shadow pockets and curved back seam.

These aren’t skin-tight skinnies, so I could easily wear them over my boots without it looking weird (although I did cut off some length since I’m 5’4″). They also come in inclusive sizing (00-24), which is always refreshing. Here I’m wearing my typical size 6/28 and they were perfect.
A Bag That Brings Joy
OK, I have to talk about this bag. I’ve been lusting after it for months — no — years, my friends. I mean, I’ve never felt such giddiness from clicking “place order” before (and as someone who shops for a living, that’s saying something).
This bag brings me such freaking joy. I love the black on black detail, I love that it goes with everything in my closet (it looks just as good with ripped jeans as it does with a fancy dress), I love that the chain can detach and turn it into a clutch, I love that it has places for cards and loose change, I love pretty much every. single. thing. about it. This was my first real designer bag purchase and I have zero regrets. It’s a timeless closet staple that I will be wearing for years.
But…if you want to maybe just dip your toe into the designer bag thing, then this card case is the perfect place to start (ooh and it would make an amazing Valentine’s Day gift!). I use this case all the time — every single day — regardless of what bag I’m wearing. Even when I’m not taking a bag at all, it fits perfectly into my coat pockets and carries exactly what I need: my license, a credit card, a debit card and some cash. I was always hauling around a huge wallet that was heavier than I needed and this card case is the perfect solution. (Plus it’s gorgeous and comes in a nice box that’s perfect for gifting!)
And finally, I have to shout out this crushed liquid lipstick from Bobbi Brown. It somehow manages to be a liquid lipstick/gloss/hydrating balm hybrid that is super pigmented and leaves lips feeling so soft. Big apple is a gorgeous bright red that’s perfect for Valentine’s Day. I paired it with soft metallic lids (Laura Mercier’s caviar stick in copper makes it super easy; just swipe and blend) and highlighter (MAC’s skinfinish powder in soft and gentle) for glowing skin that keeps the focus on the lips.
