I love change–big or small–whether we’re talking large life shifts or something small and trivial like cleaning out my closet.
I’m always so fascinated by evolving trends and really enjoy trying new styles, so when there’s an article of clothing (or in this case, a matching set) that stays in my closet for multiple years and through the significant body changes that happen when growing a human…I pause and take note.
Pregnancy fashion is not something I would necessarily say that I loved. I found dressing my ever-changing body incredibly difficult (and exhausting).
Free People’s Hailee Sweater Set: The Set That’s Perfect for Pregnancy, Postpartum, & Beyond
While most clothes I ended up enjoying were maternity specific, the Free People Hailee Sweater Set I had purchased prior to pregnancy ended up being one of my go-to outfits while pregnant, and it’s still one of my most favorite outfits in my closet today. It’s a set that has definitely settled into my Forever Wardrobe, and that’s a rare occurrence.
The set runs quite large. I had originally purchased my true size, medium, and had kept it once I found out I was pregnant in hopes I could wear it longer. I’m so glad I did, because I wore the set all the way until the end of my pregnancy, and even throughout postpartum. It was comfortable and comforting, all at the same time.
The high-rise bottoms are incredibly forgiving. They have a very high rise, which is how I was able to pull it up over my growing belly. When not pregnant, this allows you to wear them as a “super” high rise, making the pant have a cool cropped leg, or they can be worn at a more modest level on your waist giving a longer, looser look to the pant.
Once a good chunk of time had passed after having my son, my body started changing all over again (as bodies do). I decided to try out the size small in the Hailee Sweater Set to see if it would be a better fit (which is what I’m wearing in the ivory shade). The top was still loose and oversized, but the pants fit me a lot better. The sleeves got just a tad shorter, but overall I prefer the way it fits one size down.
Mix & Match: How I’ve Worn The Free People Hailee Sweater Set As Separate Pieces
If you’re a regular reader of the blog, the Hailee Sweater Set might look familiar as I’ve actually worn it in a handful of posts.
The knit set is both structured yet drapes well, it’s light enough to wear through the summertime, and it’s as perfect for beach getaways as it is for Christmas in a cabin.
I think the Hailee Sweater Set really goes the distance because of how great the two pieces are individually. The sweater is beautiful with jeans, and I love tucking graphic tees into the bottoms on warmer days that don’t require long sleeves.
The best part? This sweater set has been such a huge hit for Free People that they continually restock it, and are often adding new colors to the mix. I’m keeping my eye on a restock of that bubblegum pink. Yes please!
I suppose gorgeous new color restocks could also be considered the worst part, as it’s beyond tempting to keep buying more! It’s just that good.
