In my attempt to be less neutral and simple with my outfits, and after going through the entire Daisy Jones & The Six collection at Free People…I’m bringing you some outfits that are a bit out of my normal realm — all styled with Birkenstocks. In fact, these outfits are darn right…pretty. I’m feeling inspired to try some different colors and patterns this spring/summer and I’m hoping it gives you guys some inspo, too.
We only have this one life, so wear the crazy print and colors or the badass boots and leather, and be unapologetically you. That may be cliché, but true.
How I’m Styling Birkenstocks For Summer: 6 Cute Outfit Ideas
After living in my usual neutrals for the past…six-ish years, I wanted to try to find outfit pieces that are unique, perhaps colorful, but can still stand the test of time. Ya know, the things that might be trendy or “cool,” but pieces I’ll still reach for once the trend dies down. AND I wanted to pull these curated pieces into outfits with Birks.
Why?
Birkenstocks, the extremely-loved-by-everyone Birkenstocks, are not only very comfortable (and supportive), but they have a timelessness to them, too. (And, my two-year-old nephew also has a pair of sandals that look just like Birks, and I promised him I would get a matching pair…. He will not forget about that.)
To pull together really cute Birkenstocks outfits, I wanted a pair of Birks that, yes, look intentional with the outfits, but are also a neutral color. My top pick for a wear-everywhere, wear-forever Birkenstock are these:
These are the Birkenstock Arizona soft slide sandal in taupe. The color is gorgeous and neutral, and will complement the lighter tones of spring and summer nicely. The ‘soft’ style means there’s zero break-in period required.
So, let’s see if I can step out of my comfort zone, keep my cost-per-wear mentality and style these Birkenstocks in a cute way. This should be easy…right???
Birkenstock Outfit 1: Tan Knit & Blue Jeans
I’ve been seeing knit tops for summer everywhere. Tube tops are all the rage, but I’m liking the not-so-tight ones like this knitted number from Madewell. As for the other options – there are lots of preppy, tennis-esque knitted button-ups out, too. The whole sportswear but for every day (and not sports) seems like everyone’s go-to for this season.

As much as I love the idea of going full-on sports mode with a tennis skirt and court sneakers, I know I’ll get the most wear out of this trend with some classic blue jeans or loose denim cargo. And I’m loving how it looks with the Birks instead. I might accessorize with a baseball cap to keep the sporty nature, but these crotchet hats are everything to me. I saw someone wear it with braids and I was instantly sold.
Birkenstock Outfit 2: Maxi Denim Skirt & Graphic Tank
If you’ve been following along with any of my posts, you might know graphic tees are an essential part of my closet. Often times they’re band tees, but after seeing graphic slogan tanks…I think that’ll be my move for the upcoming seasons.

Oh, the accessories. I had fun with this one. If you can’t imagine yourself wearing the silk scarf as a bandana, wearing it as a headband or even tied around your purse can make that much of a difference to an outfit. That Tory Burch purse is selling out, but it also comes in a crossbody style. And the sunglasses. Depending on what pair I grab, it completely changes my look. I swear! The Birks let the accessories do the talking, but they also add to the nostalgic feel that the rest of the outfit has.
Birkenstock Outfit 3: Cable Knit Tees & Lightweight Pants
Another cute version of a knitted top: the cable knit tee. It’s like a more polished version of a plain white tee.
I would argue that this outfit looks chic and fancy-enough, so it dresses the Birks up just a bit. Keeping the accessories in the same color family as the Birkenstocks and top gives the monochromatic look I’m partial to. And don’t miss GAP’s 100% breathable cotton pants. Amy raved about them, saying they’re the most comfortable pants, and might even replace her linen ones for summer. I’m sold.
Birkenstock Outfit 4: Crotchet Tops
Here to announce that I am indeed a crochet-knit kind of girl. And I always have been. But for some reason…I don’t really own much of it? Blasphemy if you ask me.
I think they’d look great with some denim shorts, but if you’re like me and tend to steer clear of them — try out some cargos. The relaxed fit is perfect. With that said, I’m still tempted to try out these Madewell denim shorts because they’re a bit longer. So, hopefully they won’t ride up.
Birkenstock Outfit 5: Button-Up Dresses
I decided a bit ago that I want to be a dress person this summer. It’s never really been my style (even from the time I was a kid — picture me in basketball shorts, sneakers and tees everyday), but after finding a bunch of button-up styles, it felt more like me. Not too fancy and could work for every day. (Perfect for the nursing mamas out there, too).

I’m definitely more likely to wear these dresses if they’re styled with casual shoes like Birks. And I cannot decide between the crotchet hat or baseball hat, but they both add in that casual element, too.
Birkenstock Outfit 6: Asymmetrical Top & Peachy Pants
If you told me I wanted a pair of colorful pants three years ago, I would’ve laughed. “You mean, black pants…right??” But I don’t know, after seeing all the pretty peach shades…I’m into it.

The asymmetrical top isn’t something I thought I needed in my wardrobe, but I’m in love. It’s still a simple white top, but slightly dramatic. Again people, that high-neckline. Just looks elegant!
The Ulla Johnson pants might be a good starting point since they’re lighter, but there’s no denying the Free People and ASKK NY ones are gorgeous (and on sale at Shopbop!). It’s also the style and detailing in these pants that I like. Makes them more wearable for every day.
Last Quick Tip For Your Birks Outfits: Accessorize!
I feel like this is the year of accessories. I’ve found SO many good hair accessories, jewelry, bags and sunglasses. I might even break out the Y2K skinny scarf, we’ll see.
Hope this gave you guys some styling inspo for spring/summer!
