All I Want To Wear Are These 3 Pairs Of Uber-Comfy Shoes

Why guys? WHY????? I get ready to step out of my house and ONLY want to wear these three pairs of fuzzy, furry, cushy, uber-comfy shoes.

Now remember… I’m the one who would happily display a pair of clogs as art in my living room. I find clogs absolutely beautiful, so for me to question if a pair of shoes are “too comfy looking” for me to wear is kiiiiiind of a big deal.

I would be THRILLED, though, if someone chimes in that they find these three pairs of shoes stunningly chic and glamorous. Seriously. Because I think I could easily get onboard with this type of thinking. I’m likely almost there.

Shearling Birkenstocks & Platform UGGs: Fuzzy, Comfy Wear-Anywhere Shoes

I do wear higher-heeled fancier dressier shoes for special occasions or when I want to have a more polished look, but on the regular THESE are the shoes I actually want to wear. Since the moment these cozy, fuzzy, made-for-function, built-for-comfort, Birkenstock mules arrived, I’ve worn them at some point every.single.day.

And I’m not the only one. These fuzzy comfy shoes are DEFINITELY a thing. I see them EVERYWHERE.

Is it because we’re all struggling a bit with the current denim silhouettes and how they work with shoes? Is it because some of us are wanting desperately to stay in our 2020 uniform of house slippers 24/7? Or are we just craving something different, something interesting, something a bit bold, but not willing to part with comfort?

I don’t know, but I’m going with it.

I tried all three pairs of shoes with the pieces that I grab to wear without thinking…jeans, a black sweater, and a beautiful bag or backpack

These shearling-lined Birkenstock mules are my favorite of the three. I’ve already been wearing them confidently EVERYWHERE, so if you guys HATE them that’s okay, but I’m going to keep wearing them anyway. I love them THAT much.

I often have a difficult time giving up my comfy flip flops or Birkenstock sandals this time of year, and THESE are the perfect substitution when it starts getting cooler. They are so incredibly comfortable –cozy shearling lining, and just enough arch support that molds to the bottom of my foot without feeling too stiff.

They also come in a non-shearling lined version, but sizes are going FAST!

Sooooooo comfortable guys. So comfortable. Like walking on squishy marshmallows. These shearling-lined platform boots by UGG feel fantastic on and are pretty fun to wear too.

I am VERY drawn to the platform look (bold, but an easy-to-wear neutral color), and I think they would work even better once I throw on a puffy winter coat and hat.

And then…there are these. I haven’t decided if I could actually pull off wearing these fuzzy teddy shearling Birkenstock sandals outside of the house on the regular, but they are so darn fantastic that I’m definitely tempted to try. And the more I look at them and wear them around the house, the more I want to boldly wear them out and about.

These Birkenstocks sold out SO fast, then came back in stock, and then sold out again! So they are obviously VERY popular. The pink that are still in stock are pretty special, but I’m keeping my fingers crossed that the cream will come back in stock before the holidays. It’s worth checking back for sure. Or I rounded up similar cream fuzzy options if you scroll down.

**Quick note…if you’re in the market for fuzzy sandals, but don’t want QUITE the wild fuzziness above…my fav fuzzy Birkenstock sandals from last winter are back in stock! I wore mine inside and on the patio all winter long, but looks like this might be the year to rock them on sexy date night too! Okay…fine…maybe not sexy date night, but who knows what winter of 2021/2022 will bring!

  1. I love your shoe recs. I wore the fit flop sandals and Vince sandals you recommended all summer. I just got my first pair of Aquatalias (black mules) and I adore them. I am not sure about fuzzy mules but maybe…

    • Oh my gosh I’m so glad!!! Glad to also hear you’re going to keep an open mind about the fuzzy mules…ha! They are kind of ridiculous in the MOST amazing way. 🙂 Here’s to happy feet, Amy! Thanks for writing in.

  2. I just bought the fuzzy Birk mules too and will enthusiastically vouch for their comfort. I agree with your assessment – while I am sure I can wear them around town and be fine (yay suburbs), my entire reason for purchase was ‘something warm but comfy to wear for quick errands/school pick up and drop off’ for fall transitional weather that would rival the ease and style of my Birks in the summer. I feel like the more squared off toes of the newer mules read less slipper-like than their original model. Or so I’m telling myself! 🙂

    • I love it! I will tell myself it’s all about the squared-off toes too. There is something about them for sure …I literally 30 seconds ago tried to put on some flats and then quickly changed into the Birks instead. It’s so hard NOT to wear them! Glad I’m not the only one. 🙂

  3. Always love your posts, especially about comfort shoes. This time round, I want to know more about your sweater! It looks fantastic on you. Does it run true to size?

    • Thank you! I’m wearing an XS here. AllSaints usually runs so enormous, but I kind of wish I would have tried the S for even more drape. It’s a fun sweater to wear…it can be worn long or medium or short for three different looks. I love the sleeves!

  4. I’m here for all of these choices! The platform Uggs have been on my list too and I’m wondering if they are difficult to get on your feet?

    • Yay! So happy to hear it, Shannon! Because of the zipper in front, the Uggs aren’t difficult to get on. I often have a hard time with pull-on boots if there’s no zipper.

    • I honestly can’t stop wearing them. Glad you like them too. I’m usually a 7 in sandals, I’m usually a 7.5 in boots, and I usually order a 38 in European sizing. These are 38’s and they fit perfectly!

  5. The fuzzy mules are just…extremely bad. Very, very bad. Lol sorry but true. that being said, I have the worst feet ever and comfort is very important to me and often has to compete with appearance so I get it. I think the UGGS are kinda cute and the fuzzy birks are definitely cute. I wore my shearling lined birks (a navy pair for outdoors and a grey pair for indoor houseshoes/slippers) like CRAZY last year. I’m sooooo tempted to splurge on the jennie kayne shearling lined mules – have you or anyone of staff tried them?

    • Hahaha! Ummmm…..”extremely bad” in an oh-so-stylish-oh-so-amazing hot mama kinda way??? LOL! Fair enough…they’re not for everyone for sure. Those shearling-lined birks are pretty fantastic…love that you have an indoor and outdoor pair! Glad to see they came back in stock after selling out everywhere last year. I haven’t tried the Jenni Kaynes, but there are some Jenni Kayne fans in the TME crew, so I’ll have them chime in when/if they try them. Thanks for writing in, Chris. 🙂

    • Sooo…I haven’t tried the shearling-lined Jenni Kayne mules, but I did not like the regular ones at all. They weren’t nearly padded enough, and the shape make them really hard to walk in. I much prefer Madewell’s mules and/or ABLE’s mules. My old Madewells are long gone, but the new version IS shearling-lined: https://shopstyle.it/l/by6tn

  6. LINZI I am a lawyer and starting to go back in for court appearances (UGH) – typically I’m walking to court now to avoid subways and crowded public transit! Can you do a post on walkable, work-appropriate shoes? My high arches thank you in advance <3 <3

    • This is harder than it should be for sure! I’m a little disappointed with the range of styles (especially professional ones) from the comfort brands this year…I’m hoping they’ll be adding more in the next couple weeks. Beginning of November tends to be the best selection. If you’re looking for “professional enough” with maximum walkability, I personally would go with a black simple pair of Fly Londons (maybe these? https://shopstyle.it/l/by6sz)…maybe they would be okay under pantsuits? But Fly London style is a bit clunkier and isn’t for everyone. If you want a chicer look maybe try something like these Geox Booties? A lot of people love Geox for comfort. https://shopstyle.it/l/by6rq. Or these Eccos for a standard (but walkable) pump? https://shopstyle.it/l/by6sr. You could always go Naturalizer if you’re a heel gal (they’re usually okay for weddings for me, but I wouldn’t necessarily wear them to walk the city). Have you tried Everlane flats? They are not technically a comfort shoe and they don’t have any special arch support, but somehow I can wear them walking the city all day…which is definitely saying something. And they look great casual or more dressed up. I have them in several colors. I’ll keep looking and will hopefully have a nice big round-up of all sorts of comfort shoes soon-ish…just waiting on more selection. Good luck with going back to court appearances–what a transition!

    • Thank you! I got a professional pedicure just before these photos were taken and have no idea what the color is. Next time I pass the salon I’ll see if I can pick it out again. 🙂

  7. Love the mules, but with the Arizonas, how do you keep the shearling clean? Maybe it’s just me (I’ve never been able to keep my shoes clean) but white shearling is going to get dirty so fast.

    • Such a good question. Last year, I had a pair that was lined in black shearling, so it wasn’t an issue. But yes…the teddy shearling cream ones are likely a nightmare to try and keep clean. I’m wondering if dry cleaners that clean Uggs (many around here advertise that service during the winter months) would also give these Birks a cleaning/refresh?? Worth an ask. Or even a shoe repair place might have a way to give them a good cleaning every once in a while.

  8. I love this post and all of your shoes/outfits! Now I’m debating which to get. And for what it’s worth, I think all of those look fantastic as outside of the house shoes 😊 I’m leaning toward the shearling lined mules OR the unlined ones. Do you find that any of the typical birks support is lost with the added shearling?

  9. Yes! This is my issue with the various shoes that have shearling on the outside, especially so close to the ground. How do you keep them from picking up debris? I have a pair of Sorel Out & Abouts from last year (the ones that look like a Danner hiking boot and an UGG boot had babies) that have a little shearling at the top of the ankle and luckily it seems high up enough that it hasn’t been a problem. But I still worry.

And I just can’t with the first mules. Too many “Grandpa’s slippers” vibes. But someone in the stall next to me at Target was wearing them the other day, so they are definitely out in the wild. That said, I have the faux fur lined Bostons (which to me say “hippie” not “grandpa”) and I LOVE them–but they don’t leave the house.
