I had big plans to start this post off by mentioning the sustainable denim Amy & S found (hi, Re/done & Boyish…I’m talking about you). Until Em graced us with a little selfie on Facebook wearing this crazy adorable Cotton On Set that she just got in the mail.
Jeans? What Jeans? Kidding…
But the Cotton On leggings are a mere $15 and the top is $10!! ($10!) They’re made from recycled coffee grounds, and Em says she fully endorses this set. For now, here’s a sneak peek of Em in the set (seriously, so cute) and she’s working on a full try-on post that’s coming out soon.
There are more sustainable style picks we’re crushing on below…enjoy!
1. Amy’s Pick: Boyish The Billy Jean
I have recently fallen hard for the denim brand Boyish. I was drawn in by an ad on Instagram (ah, they always get me), but once I discovered how devoted they were to sustainability, it was true love. They are a great follow on Instagram, too, as they post daily educating stories with facts about the denim and clothing industry, plus how they are committed to raising the standard!
2. Kat’s Pick: Summersalt French Terry Lounge Shorts + Puff Short Sleeve
I am such a sucker for lounge sets these days, and this set from Summersalt is so dreamy! I love that the set is made with USDA certified biobased product, TENCEL™ fibers, and certified biodegradable and compostable material. I personally like that the shorts have exposed pocket detailing and always gravitate towards puff sleeve tops. This set is winning on all levels, and is a total stunner!
3. Linzi’s Pick: Moon + Arrow Brass Earrings
One of my go-tos for spring and summer is to wear neutral basics (my black jumpsuit, a solid-colored dress, jeans and a white tee) with beautiful bold earrings. Local small business Moon + Arrow in Philly has a gorgeous selection of bold (but elegant) earrings handcrafted in their brick and mortar shop and made from recycled metals. I’m in love with these in brass.
4. Shana’s Pick: Re/Done ’90s Loose Jeans
Ever since I saw Re/Done’s 90s Loose Jeans on Amy (see her jean try-on post here)…I can’t stop thinking about these jeans. They’re full-length, which feels really fresh right now, and have a boyish vibe I can’t get enough of. Amy, of course, is 5’9″, so I have no idea if these will also work for my shorter self…but fingers crossed. And in terms of sustainability…Re/Done jeans are made in LA using water conserving methods and no harsh chemicals. According to their website, “quantities will always be limited since each pair is handpicked, hand cut, and distinctly one of a kind.”
5. & 6. Laura’s Picks: adidas x HER Studio Jacket & Track Pants
I mean, how freaking rad is this adidas set? I think maybe I’d just go for the jacket, honestly, but gosh, both are so cool. I’m also TOTALLY digging this dress from the same line for summer. I ordered Sienna (my 7-year-old) this little set, too. I couldn’t resist. And she’s stoked. She just got new roller skates, and why yes, I’m living vicariously through her awesomeness. I wish I’d been a skater girl.
7. Scotti’s Pick: Vitamin A Playa Linen Shirt Dress
I have vacation on the brain with all this cold and snow, and this linen shirt dress would be the perfect piece to pack. Wear as a cover-up, tie it up, button it, belt it, throw it on over a mini dress or shorts…it’s super versatile. I’d wear it now buttoned up under a sweater dress like this or throw it on over leggings and a t-shirt. (And right now it’s 20% off with code LUCKY21!)
8. & 9. Em’s Picks: Cotton On Lifestyle Vestlette + Leggings
I’ve been intrigued by Cotton On for a while now, so I loaded these pieces (and a few others) into my cart today for a little try-on haul soon. What’s even more intriguing, though: these pieces, specifically, are made from recycled coffee beans. I admittedly need to look into the process by which the beans are spun into yarn and knitted into these performance fabrics to make sure there’s no greenwashing in place here (what chemicals does it involve? is it water intensive?), but I have to admit it certainly sounds cool. And the style of this top — or vestlette, which I will be calling all my sleeveless cropped tanks from here on out — is so cute with the crossback and reversible colorway. More to come!
