I initially mistook this picture for something AI-generated, but to my surprise, it’s the real deal. It seems black wedge sandals are making a comeback, and I have to admit, I’m excited about it. Wedge heels have always been a favorite of mine; they add that extra height I love. I’m known for pairing wedges with everything, from flirty summer dresses to jeans that are just a tad too long. And while I appreciate luxury, I’m not quite ready to splurge a grand on a single pair of shoes (though, hey, if anyone from Chloé is listening, I wouldn’t say no to a gift! 🤣). So, I’m diving into some budget-friendly options—think under $200—to satisfy my wedge obsession without breaking the bank.

I Tried 10 Black Wedge Sandals…I Recommend 4 of Them

Top Pick Overall: Sam Edelman

These sandals from Sam Edelman stood out as the cutest of the bunch. Surprisingly lightweight, the heel (4″) to platform (2″) ratio strikes the perfect balance for comfortable walking, and the ankle strap is substantial enough to create a sense of stability. I absolutely adore the added height these shoes give me, especially when paired with wide-leg jeans; they really elevate the whole look.

Reviewers said these were super comfortable and cute, with most people only complaining about the color not being what they thought. (They also come in brown suede or three different textured colors – and I kind of love the orange for summer!) They’re currently on sale, too! Originally $150, they’re now a steal at $105.

Most Comfortable: UGG

I almost kept this pair simply because they were so ridiculously comfortable. Like cushy, walking-on-clouds kind of comfy. Reviewers agree as well…93% of them gave these 5 stars with words like “amazing,” “feel like sneakers,” and “I stand all day in them.”

The heel feels like 1.75″ with the platform, but you still get over 3 inches of height. I love the easy velcro closure and stable feel of these. They also come in a chestnut brown and a bright coral color, which might be fun.

The Ones With Fun Details: Yarrow

I love the versatility of these. The ties can be tied in front like a bow, or wrapped around and tucked in (second picture). Either way, the tightness can be adjusted to your comfort level. The zipper on the back makes them easy to get on and take off, and I love the chrevron-striped wedge.

At 2.5 inches, these are the shortest of the bunch, but with a 1″ platform it only feels like a 1.5″ heel…which is basically flat. 🤣 They run tts, so no need to size up (even with a wider foot). They also come in a cream or bright red color.

The Pair My Mom Would Like: Cole Haan

These sandals are perfect for my mom. She’s always looking for a very specific type of sandal, and this checks all of her boxes. The ankle strap isn’t too high up around the ankle (if it’s too high she says it cuts her off), and with a heel height of 3.5 inches, they provide that extra lift without the steep angle, thanks to the 1-inch platform.

The thicker toe strap ensures her foot stays securely in place, and along with the cushy GRANDFØAM footbed and grippy tread, she won’t be wobbling around while walking. I think she’d like the gold detail as well…and they also come in a pecan (tan) color.
