The Best of Black Friday (And Cyber Monday) Sales
OK Gang, I could start with “happy holidays” and some sort of sentimental story…but if you’re here, at this particular page, I know what you’re lookin’ for. Have a seat — here’s a virtual toast *clink clink* — and let’s get right to the goods.
With Thanksgiving coming later this year, (which means, theoretically, a shorter holiday shopping season) my bet is that Black Friday sales events will start in earnest….two weeks before actual Black Friday? And…if the last few weeks have been any indication, I suspect the whole month of November is fair game.
Why do we care?
As someone who tracks these things verrrry closely, last year many of the good pieces — our top recommendations — were sold out by Black Friday (and certainly by Cyber Monday aka Cyber Week). And the difference in discounts between actual Black Friday and earlier sales was typically 10% or less. So keep that in mind when perusing the early sales, as well as our recommendations.
We’re already doing a ton of dressing room selfies (it’s a good way to know what to recommend), and we’re pulling together Black Friday wish lists now. And while we don’t know exactly what the Black Friday sales will be…we do have some really well-educated guesses. Both dressing room selfies & wishlists can be found below.
My goal? To actually finish shopping (and wrapping gifts and, uh, mailing gifts #theWORST) before December hits. I have high hopes for a December filled with hot cocoa-and-movie nights (WHITE CHRISTMAS, HOLLA), ice skating outdoors, and basically anything that Norman Rockwell would’ve pinned to Pinterest (ha!). But I’ll settle for some extra snuggles and better headspace than my usual frantic December self. Cheers to a holiday season that is, actually, filled with joy and peace.

Abercrombie & Fitch – TBD% OFF
If you haven’t checked out Abercrombie in a while…you’re in for a treat. The brand has completed reinvented itself and is now a TME team favorite for reliably cute sweaters, great coats (with a cool heritage vibe – think parkas with good details) , and shockingly good jeans. (In fact, Abercrombie’s denim for men is one of Mike’s favorites.)
Anthro certainly knows how to bring the holiday joy. From party tops to swoon-worthy dresses…it’s easy to forget that they’re also one of our favorite sources of jeans and winter accessories (seriously — they carry the cutest winter hats and mittens).
I somewhat recently discovered (or rediscovered) Athleta’s workout leggings, and they’ve quickly become some of my favorites. I love the inclusive sizing, and their (admittedly small) foray into sustainable products. The colors this season are particularly good….hello, oxblood.
Banana Republic – TBD% OFF
Banana Republic, masters of subtle-chic, should’t be underestimated. While we’re loving their statement coats, don’t over look that thick, slightly cropped sweater. It’ll halt-tuck perfectly into jeans and looks exactly like a designer piece…but at a fraction of the cost.
I’m totally obsessed with this sale. Not only are all of my favorite things on sale, but Bloomie’s has the best stock (in terms of sizes) right now. Totally worth checking out.
If you’ve been reading this website for a while, you likely have noticed me raving (and raving and raving) about Colleen Rothschild’s skincare. I’ve been using it religiously for years as my nighttime routine, and whenever I’ve tried other products (just out of boredom), it isn’t long until I switch back. (The one product I’ve NEVER switched up is the facial cleansing oil.) Use code BF2018 for 30% off your entire order.
Our entire team loves Dyson products for home and beauty. Stay tuned for an Airwrap review in time for Black Friday…
We especially love Express for their affordable, party-ready pieces. (And if you’re considering a sequin showstopper, they have those, too. Scotti’s fav.)
Gap has recently come back on our radar for it’s cute and affordable (and surprisingly on-point) options.
H&M has been getting better & better. The quality of the pieces seem to be going up, and we’re thrilled that they’re continuing to expand their conscious (aka more eco-friendly) collection. (ps. H&M is our first stop for little boy suits. They’re machine washable, and look great no matter how many times they get washed.)
Intermix is pricy…but when there’s a sale…it’s usually GOOD. This is the only place I’ve ever seen my beloved IRO leather jackets on sale.
J.Crew has managed to put together a collection of happiness for this holiday season. Sweaters that are truly unique and special (whether via details or spot-on colors), a ski-inspired line of sweatshirts and tees, and, per usual, dreamy velvet and quirky, vintage-y baubles (like these) to dress everything up.
Our favorites from LOFT are all about texture. We’re talkin’ velvet everything, furry slippers, cozy sweaters with shimmer…and if you come across “flecked” sweaters (or dresses), look closely – it’s GOOD.
If you need SERIOUS winter coats for SERIOUS cold…. Lolë rocks at this game. They manage to make the most lightweight puffers I’ve ever had the pleasure of wearing…without losing an ounce of warmth. Add to this a thoughtful selection of technical clothing disguised as real clothes…I’m a die hard fan.
This sustainable fashion brands makes – and I take these words verrrry seriously – THE BEST cashmere sweaters on the planet. Best. Gift. Ever.
The best deals right now are on beauty tools, boots, and some seriously cool jackets. (And I’ve also rounded up a few pairs of jeans and sweaters….)
Parachute Home – TBD% OFF
This sale doesn’t actually start until Black Friday, but it’s too good to miss! Parachute Home, if you haven’t yet tried them, makes my all-time favorite bedding. It’s….delicious.
Still some of my most-worn denim, rag & bone has been a longtime favorite of mine. Their high-rise skinnies are my favs. They manage to stay up without totally squeezing my stomach uncomfortably. But there are plenty of Dres in this sale (a low-rise, slim boyfriend jean that I can’t quite quit. Like here. Size up if you want that slouchy fit.)
Almost all of my favorite dresses this year have come from sustainable fashion brand Reformation. They’re masters of the subtly sexy, girl-next-door vibe.
Shopbop’s epic Black Friday sale has ended, and for Cyber Monday, they’re offering an additional 30% off all sale items. Per usual, the sale section is pretty picked over, but here are the standouts:
Shop Buru – TBD% OFF
My friend Morgan launched Shop Buru several years ago, specifically to give Moms better shopping options. She’s evolved, over the years, into designing her own line and it’s SO freaking fun. Here are a few of my favs…
Still my favorites. For the whole fam.
Every year Splendid comes out with a few pieces that are absolute perfection. They nail the shape, the color palette, and, of course, the softness. This year, I also found a few pieces for the guys.
The North Face – TBD% OFF
A few of the pieces from our The North Face try-on video are on sale, as well as plenty of stuff for kids and guys. Here are my favs from the women’s section…
