Nothing like a week in the upper 80s to put one in the mood for summer outfits, amirite? If this little heatwave has put one thing on my mind, it’s this: bring on the breezy cotton pants and swingy dresses!
Gap is currently running the perfect promo (ends today 5/3!!) to get ahead of the game: take 50% off select summer styles (including sale) + 60% off mystery deals and an extra 10% off with code: TREAT. Soooo… we just had to pull together a little roundup. And it turns out, Gap is the perfect place to pick up everything we’d want to pack for a little summer getaway.
Summer Essentials For A Quick Trip Away, On Sale At Gap
Each year when spring and summer roll around, we wait with bated breath for Gap’s gauzy cotton collection. The wide-leg pants are beloved by team TME (so lightweight, breathable and vacation-ready), and the matching button-ups make for a versatile swim cover-up, too. And how cool is this patchwork denim tank? It’s the perfect, easy statement-maker to take an everyday outfit up a notch (and wearing lots of denim is trending!). Onto our list…
1a + 1b / 2 / 3 / 4 / 5 / 6 / 7a + 7b / 8 / 9 / 10
1. Bandeau Bikini Top + Classic Bikini Bottom
Polka dots have been grabbing my eyes lately and this bikini aced the darling little print. Simple lines, a basic black & white, removable straps + 50% off at checkout. Amaze. Always necessary for a summer getaway.
2. Vegan Leather Platform Flip Flops
The vegan leather on these platform flip flops looks really luxe for the price. I’d go with an all-black pair for a mini trip (to make matching as simple as possible) but I also have my eyes on the cognac brown which would work just as well. These can read fancy with dresses & skirts, or totally laid back with shorts + a bikini.
3. Tiered Mini Dress
This dress is such a good option to pack for a trip. It can work for a fancy dinner (especially the black), a cover-up, or an easy dress to slip on for daytime. The bright red & green floral colorways are great if you’re looking for something less sleek and more playful, too. I’ll always have an easy mini dress in tow.
4. Light Wash Wide-Leg Jeans
The light indigo wash of these jeans is so perfect for summer. (Click on the model pics for close-ups of the cool front seams.) IMO, you always need a pair of jeans packed – regardless of the projected temps. They always seem to come in handy. These come in regular, petite & tall! I’m dying to see them styled with the patchwork denim top below…
5. Straw Tote Bag
In my experience, a tote is the way to go for a quick trip – but especially one with a pool or beach (or lots of shopping) involved. They can hold tons, usually pack down flat enough (or be your “personal item” for the flight), and straw ones in particular look great styled in alltheways in spring/summer. The black straps on this beauty read elevated, too (and it’s $30 on sale at Gap!!).
6. Denim Jacket
Okkk, this style of denim jacket is SO fresh. (Shana styled it up here, you have to peek.) It’s a great option for trips because this chic wrap style can be worn with a mini dress, layered over some airy gauze, and (shockingly) paired with denim, because that’s in these days!! Completely love.
7a + 7b. Crinkle Gauze Button-Up + Wide-Leg Pants
This gauzey button-up & pant set is such a great beach option for day (breathable, light, soooo non-sweaty) + a comfy-cozy option for night if you’re lounging by a bonfire, pool, or just have ice cream on the schedule. (Drooling rn.) It’s such an easy set to pack (it’s crinkle gauze sooo wrinkles aren’t an issue) and wear in a brunch of ways.
8. Crinkle Gauze Shorts
These gauze shorts (same composition as the set above) act as a quick swimsuit cover-up if you decide to run to the boardwalk or can go a fancier way when paired with a more structured top (like the denim one down below). And it’s a dream for just lounging. Comes in 4 really versatile colors.
9. Rib Halter Top
I will never not bring a little cotton tank with me on trips. I throw them on in the mornings to grab hotel coffee or go on a walk, in the daytime when it’s really hot with shorts, or at night, slightly dressed up with some jewelry & jeans or a skirt (like this one ahhhh). It plays allll the roles. This one is on its way to me because of those cool contrast lines! I also love the white + red version, and would happily wear any & all of the solid ones. Such a dependable wardrobe basic for me in the summer.
10. Patchwork Denim Top
You need to pack a fun top for a getaway. There are no fashion rules… BUT this is one for packing. Even if your trip has absolutely no plans involved or if you’re just going to be lounging on the beach all day, still bring one. You never know when you’ll be itching to dress a little bit more stylish or when a fabulous cocktail date will pop onto the schedule. Be prepared!! Haha. This patchwork one has me absolutely swooning.
Who knew you could knock out an entire pacing list with pieces on sale at Gap?! Fabulously easy.
Thank you so much to Gap for sponsoring this post! Your pieces are soooo well done and are at the perfect price point to peruse as often as I do haha. We’re BIG Gap fans & wearers at TME.
