Weekend 9.6

This week was wild, Gang. Not only did Raines submit his first-ever college application (1 down 12 to go or something insane like that?) but we now have two high schoolers. Which means that when Mike and I went to watch Raines’ first cross-country meet of the season…Pax is also running. Tbh, this might be our last season watching – I’m not convinced Pax will keep running once Raines graduates. Raines was all, ‘it felt SO GOOD to be running again, Mom’ and Pax was all, ‘WHEN DOES THIS END??? NOVEMBER???’

So, you know. Two different perspectives.

Additionally, the TME crew has been working on our upcoming holiday shop like mad. It’s…so freaking fun, Guys. Hunting down small, mom-and-pop businesses with the coolest freaking stuff (most of it handmade) is both deeply gratifying and really inspiring. This job can be both a grind and a joy, but there’s been a little more joy/less grind this week. If interested, we dropped a few more giftable items into our Holiday Shop Sneak Peek. Everyone can look, but only our Discord members can pre-order (it’s a little thank-you for subscribing, along with the monthly code for 15% off – use anywhere in the shop, including pre-order items). My favorite gift is probably…this (suuuuper excited about the different designs).

Anyway, I hope you guys are getting back into the swing of fall, and finding a little time to enjoy.

Speaking of joy, did someone say, “chocolate brown flats”? Here, haha.

Why does La Ligne do everything better? For example: this cashmere sweater. Ugh – so cool.

Worth hemming: GAP’s denim dress is the exact shape and color (‘dark wash’ or ‘rinse’) that I’ve been looking for…but I can’t tell where exactly the hem hits. I’m going to try the petite length, but even if it hits a little past mid-calf, it’s definitely worth hemming (especially on sale).

Are we going to wear puffer vests again? If so, I want this one (that cool stripe!).

An affordable gem: If you had wanted Staud’s tomato sweater for $325…maybe try this one (under $100) instead. So cute (and from a small business run by two really nice moms).

Fall jacket pick: a soft, cropped navy one that made me gasp out loud.

French-girl dress. This J.Crew dress (part of their Rouje collab) exceeded all of my expectations. It honestly reads more fall than summer, too, and I like it better than this Doen lookalike. I uploaded a selfie of this dress (with clogs!!) on our group chat.

All leggings should be like this: Lulu’s new align “no line” leggings don’t have that front seam, and they look SO MUCH BETTER in the, uh, [S waves hands around] area that now I don’t want any other leggings. Like seriously WHY did it take this long?

WHOA: the coolest suede pumps I’ve EVER seen. For office or parties, honestly! (Kate Spade, of course.)

Splurge v save: I am still not at all over this SIMKHAI dress – it’s been haunting my dreams for over a year – but this cute little GAP bubble hem dress is fun to just play around with. (I’d get the white and wear it with a black hoodie.)

Mother denim, still kickin. These jeans are next on my never-ending quest to find the perfect straight leg jean. Don’t worry guys, I’ve found soooo many I like! (JUST KIDDING I HATE EVERYTHING. sigh.)

ATTN: Petites!!! Classic Adidas track pants in petite sizes (black only). These sell out quickly after each re-stock, so I had promised to let you guys know when they were back in stock. Definitely don’t wait – they’re really annoying to hem.

Did Barbour get a new creative director or something? I mean….here’s an It-Girl jacket, a seriously cool plaid, as well as a perfectly fall cord + sherpa jacket, or even the best freaking collar on a trench coat. [applause]

Ooo…fall dress, major sale: Farm Rio. It’s the kind of print/colorway that you could wear all fall with boots and a trench coat, but I could see this dress being really fun during the holidays, too. And I’d honestly just wear it now with flat sandals for 2nd summer and call it a day. Hmmmm.

The cutest studs: these hearts. (Congrats, Kilee – love to see you carried at Nordstrom!)

I swear these menswear-style PJs are sexier than most…yes? (Because of the bagginess?)

Weeknight dinner, 20 min: How Sweet Eats claims this Basil Chickpea Curry is both delicious AND comes together in literally 20 min. I’m going to try it.

Enjoy your weekend!
