Weekend 8.8

0

Hey everyone, it’s Aliya (TME’s Social Media & Engagement Manager). I’m taking over Shana’s weekend post this time around.

There’s nothing I love more in the summer than being with family. That’s it. I don’t care where we are, what we’re doing… just as long as we’re together.

And by family I don’t mean just my immediate family. My second cousins too!! And their kids!! I feel so fulfilled when I’m surrounded by all the different generations, of people who are descendants of my favorite aunties and uncles who are no longer with us. I long for the days where we lay around on the beach and read People’s magazine because that’s what our Grandmas used to do. Or hear everyone’s impressions of Aunt Helen (who had the most Jersey accent you could ever imagine). It’s moments like that that keep our family history alive, even the ridiculous stories.

And then there’s the youngest generation, the grandkids, the great grandkids, the people I spend myself running around with most these days. I keep thinking in the back of my mind that these are the little humans I’m going to grow old with. The ones who I will be sat with at weddings, and suddenly our age gap doesn’t feel that big anymore.

These are the moments that fulfill me more than anything else. They make me feel refreshed and recharged. To spend time with the people who really get me, because at the end of the day, it was the same crazy people that made us all.

The Nordstrom Anniversary Sale ends tomorrow! The last minute finds to not miss out on: the thongs Shana buys every year, setting powder that doesn’t creep into fine lines, our favorite jeans in the sale, top drawer refresh for him, I’m always grabbing a new silk pillow case this time of year, my favorite non-toxic cookware duo, and the totally unnecessary phone strap I’ve been loving… I could actually go on all day long ha!

10k step approved sandals on sale… our team favorite fisherman sandals are on sale for 15% off this weekend at Freda Salvador! They come in blue or brown mesh (or all the other classic colorways too). See my review video here.

The buttery soft workout set I’ve been wearing on repeat: the tank, and the leggings both in the color ink (also comes in shorts).

I’m now addicted to flossing?? Thanks to this stuff.

The only pants I’m wearing in this heat and that will be taking with me into the fall: this lacey pair and this yogi pair.

Wedding guest approved – picking out a dress for MRS!!! Abby, the fashionista herself’s wedding, was a tall task, but I landed with this fun (but splurgey) number by Ramy Brook that they kindly gifted a few months ago. You can also find it at Bloomies & Saks. This under $30 purse went so well with it. You can see my outfit on the third slide here and some sneak peeks of Abby’s big day.

Extra special birthday decor… For my boyfriend’s birthday this year, I wanted to do something a little more fun, so I decorated with this paper garland pack, star garland, and these flags strung across the room. We ended up loving them so much that we still haven’t taken them down. They’re literally still hanging as I type this.

Neutral nails for weddings and beyond… the shade Pearl (a soft, shimmering champagne) has been my go-to neutral this summer. One coat gives a natural look, while two coats gives a more opaque finish. I added the Gel Shift Top Coat before some upcoming travel for extra staying power, and it’s so much easier to remove than traditional gel since it’s just one top coat.

Is it crazy to say that my mom and I have a favorite pair of dish gloves???

For the kiddos… We are collabing with adidas this month and the face of the campaign this month is my adorable godson. He’s been running around in these sneakers this month and of course I had to throw in a soccer ball for him too.

If you have an hourglass figure… this dress has been super flattering on me (ordered a M petite so the straps would be shorter). I’ve also always wanted to try the Tobi Shirtdress – have heard so many good things about it.

For the office… my mama needed an outfit for an upcoming conference – we just ordered these pants, this top, and this blazer (keeping it simple)

I freakin’ love MegaBabe… because of course they would come out with “Magic Powder Stay-Dry Lotion Potion”

The best protein powder – I just ran out of my all-time favorite. It’s sweetened with dates instead of stevia (please tell me I’m not the only one who can’t stand the taste of artificial sweeteners 😂), it’s plant-based, and packed with a superfood blend. I add it to my oatmeal every morning. I’ve also loved the Cacao + Strawberry, and I’m still using the Vanilla in my smoothies.

Bad sunburn… my boyfriend absolutely cooked his back on our last beach trip. We did too much napping. One of my favorite face moisturizers has actually been saving his skin thanks to the colloidal oatmeal. These aftersun face masks have also been a big help too.

Back-to-school… my little brother is headed back to college gahhh! We just launched this Dorm Move-In Set in our shop that we are totally going to send to him.

Speaking of back to school…  okay so my little brother isn’t so little – he’s going into his junior year. This jacket and these barrel pants are the updated pieces we added into his wardrobe.
