Weekend 8.29

0

We dropped R off at college this weekend, and I’m a bit of a mess. Everything went great it’s just…bittersweet. So let’s just jump riiiiiight into the distractions, shall we?

The Heirloom Edit – We launched a collection of vintage and antique jewelry!! These one-of-a-kind and/or exclusive pieces are – easily – some of the most exciting pieces of jewelry I’ve worn. Some are fancy, but none are too fussy to wear with a t-shirt, ya know? Each piece is…well, stunning, honestly, and I love the how they don’t look like anything else out there.

Love the colorway on this striped shirt: emerald green + brown.

If you’re not ready for baggy jeans, but your old style is looking stale…this pair. There’s something so leggy, casual, and cool about them.

Waterproof boots that tick all the boxes: These. (The boxes: pointed toes, a walkable – but interesting – heel, good fall colors.)

Fuck you, Calloway Golf. If you haven’t yet seen the ad Calloway Golf released, showing a man shoving a woman down on the golf course because she touched his driver (and no, that’s not a euphamism)…don’t. It’s awful. And while the company quickly pulled the ad and issued some lukewarm apology, Dick’s Sporting Goods simply pulled all Calloway products off of their shelves. Dick’s CEO is a woman, and decisive, badass moves like this are one of reasons I LOVE shopping at Dick’s. And their in-house line, Calia, has some seriously cool golf clothes, too.

Ancient Greek Sandals is having a huge summer sale. The best buy in the sale – hands down! – are these ridiculously comfortable (yet sexy) flat sandals. I have them in a nude color, and wore them all over Corfu this summer. The sole is thick and supportive, the bottom is grippy (Corfu is soooo hilly and all of my other sandals were too slippery), and the thong upper is made from really comfortable leather. I wear thong sandals, like, NEVER, and I still loved walking miles in this pair. So much so that I’m buying another in silver.

Hunter Rain Boots, in seriously chic colors? These. Each color (dark red, hot fudge, natural) is muted, neutral, and beautiful. (Except fo the light pink – not my fav, haha.)

Is it worth doing a try-on of painter jeans? I keep looking at J.Crew’s boyish pair and Free People’s paint-splattered pair (ugh – not the pink), and Zac Posen’s pair for GAP. Anyone else’s heart beat fast at these jeans?

Best thing on sale at Saks? This. Been waiting since last winter for it to go on sale.

Styling inspo for the week? Bright blue accessories (and here’s the same idea with a bag). Love it.

“Skin vitamins” are shaky science…but I’m intrigued by Ritual’s HyaCera. Apparently, Ritual scientists were skeptical about entering the beauty market since this area is pretty light on actual studies…but they picked two ingredients that looked to be the most promising (hyaluronic acid and a plant-derived ceramide) and ran their own. It was a 12-week randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled trial, using 63 people, ages 26 to 64. The results were a 3.6x reduction in crow’s feet and 2.9x improvement in skin smoothness. Sooooo….I’m going to try it. Ask me about it in November, haha.

My consolation prize for dropping off Raines at college: the little boutique hotel we’re staying in has a little coffee/tea service set up for whenever, so I’ve been having a cup of tea on the porch every night. But the electric kettle that’s available to use is this sexy beast and now I WANT ITTTT.

Two left: these micro mosaic pendants are special enough all on their own, but we loved their playful vibe so much that we paired each with a colorful leather cord in addition to their usual gold chain. It’s like two necklaces in one, and I…love the end result SO MUCH. Good job, us!

Last one: These mini bee hoops are almost sold out! From a distance, they look like delicate drop earrings, it’s only up close that you can see it’s actually a bee. I’ve been wearing mine all weekend – they’re impactful enough to look like something, but comfy enough to sleep in. If you need an gift for someone who loves to garden, they’re especially perfect (says the girl who kills all plants, haha). Anyway, they’re great. Made in France, hand-painted porcelain bee.

Enjoy your weekend!
