I love dressing up, but a lot of my friends (most of them, in fact) don’t. They want to be comfortable, warm and still be able to wear their jeans, regardless of the plans they have over the holidays. I mean, we do live in the frozen tundra, so I can understand their desire to not want to freeze in little sequin dresses and fancy tops.
Cute Holiday Party Outfit Ideas: Add A Lace Top
So what’s the easiest way to accomplish all those things and still be a little fancified for parties this season? Add lace. A festive lacy top is an easy way to dress up without trying too hard–and still be able to rock your favorite jeans. (Or if you want to be fancy, shiny black jeans. #ohsofancy)
So while this top may in fact be sexy, fun and all things party, it’s not altogether practical to wear alone on a mid-December night. Which is why Shana wrote this post last year about sexy little tops that can easily be layered under a blazer. But in my case, living where I live (it’s currently 15 degrees outside and it’s the middle of the day), I’ll be forgoing that blazer in favor of a puffer coat. Same idea, different climate. (#whateverworks, right?)
top: Halogen Blouson Sleeve Lace Top – Also in blue, I’m in love with this top. It fits really well and is sexy without being too revealing. Perfect for anything from a family party to a night out.
cami: Hanro Seamless V-Neck Cotton Camisole – This is expensive, especially for a cami, but it is worth every single penny. It literally lasts for YEARS, and I’ve worn and washed it more times than I can count. Super comfortable and flattering (read the reviews!), and I especially love the delicate spaghetti straps. You could also layer the top over a bodysuit like this one that comes in black or tan.
jacket: Mini Velvet Puffer Jacket – I love this jacket and am wearing it all the time. It’s warm, comfy, and easy to dress up or down. It also comes in faux fur, sherpa and faux leather–inventory is constantly changing so keep checking for your favorite color to be restocked!
boots: Jeffrey Campbell Siren Bootie – I like the stretchy neoprene fabric on these — they fit nice and tight like sock boots, but aren’t stiff around your ankles. They fit really well under jeans (even tighter ones).
