When Nordstrom reached out, asking to work together, I knew exactly what I wanted to cover. You see, I have a winter uniform of sorts — I have for years. And it always (always!!) seems to involve a black cashmere turtleneck and jeans. The jeans get tweaked over the years, the boots and bag get swapped out, but that sweater?
It’s always a black cashmere turtleneck.
And Nordstrom has a really good one. One that rivals some of the more expensive brands (*cough*Equipment*cough*) I’ve tried.
And — even better — I’ve been especially happy with the other, uh, Turtleneck Accoutrements I’ve found this winter. So happy, in fact, that I think any of these pieces — including aforementioned turtleneck — would make a seriously good gift (or self-gift, as the age-old tradition says).
“Thou shalt seek the joys of the holidays by seeking out that which brings thine the truest joy.”
I may have made that up.
Winter Outfit Inspo: An Insanely Good Turtleneck Sweater For Day-to-Night
But what brings mine eyes the truest joy, it turns out, is this seriously soft black cashmere turtleneck, waterproof sneaker boots, and Clare-freaking-V.
Black Cashmere Turtleneck Outfit 1: Weekend

First of all, we’ve gotta talk about these boots. I’ve mentioned them before (they were highly recommended by a friend of mine), but these JSlides Carole Boots are seriously rocking my world. They’re completely waterproof, wildly comfortable (even for all-day city walking) and they’re warm. The black is almost sold out, but there’s a really pretty navy (with gold zips) in stock…and mine also come in a shorter, chelsea boot-inspired shape that is really cute on (still waterproof, still lined in faux-fur).
*NOTE* – Nordstrom doesn’t explicitly state that the Carole or Henley (the navy version) are waterproof, but I did confirm that they are, indeed, waterproof.

Now….the BAG. I love all Clare V bags (this straw honeypot bag has been my summer go-to for years), but this sporty little cross-body is my newest obsession. It has an inherently casual vibe making it perfect for day…but it’s small and pretty enough for date night (without being overly precious). And, in case you are new to the brand, Clare V bags are all made here in the United States (LA, in fact).

Next up? This coat. I’m wearing Pendleton’s Darby Metro Waterproof Hooded Coat, and despite the fact that it’s wool, it really is waterproof. I picked mine up a few years ago, and it’s nice and warm, too. I also appreciate that the styling isn’t overly fancy — some wool coats can skew so ladylike that they look strange with sneakers, sneaker boots or Doc Martens. This coat, however, still retains a casual vibe (and is great for those cold, rainy days in Philly).
And, uh…did I mention the fun lining?

Black Cashmere Turtleneck Outfit 2: Date Night

faux-fur jacket (xs) | sweater (small) | jeans (25) | boots | bag | earrings (similar)
For my next trick…I’m turning my everyday outfit into a sexy date night one! (We can debate the use of the word “sexy”. I’m willing to meet halfway, and settle for ‘cute and warm’.)

But honestly — nine times out of ten, if I’m going out in the winter, I’m wearing some version of this. I simply swap my sneaker boots for heeled boots (the Smartwool socks stay, haha) and the wool coat for a faux fur. I add statement earrings and a fancy bag (I like mine a liiiitle quirky) and…DONE.
If I’m feeling optimistic, I’ll layer a silk cami under my black turtleneck — like this one — but it may or may not see the light of day.

This bag, BTW, is yet another Clare V. I love the ‘old fashioned lady’ vibe and the fact that I can stuff my sweater inside of it. (Otherwise, it’ll hold my hat — key for Philly winter date nights.) Any Clare V bag would make a seriously swoon-worthy gift (see all of them here).

A huge thank you to Nordstrom & Shopstyle for sponsoring this post! Nordstrom is one of my very favorite places to shop — if that isn’t already obvious — and I’m always thrilled when my endless searching turns up such cool, practical finds. As always, all thoughts, opinions, and product choices are my own. And readers, thank you for your continued support. It doesn’t go unnoticed and is so very much appreciated.
I love this style and the fact that you are wearing the same jeans and the same sweater for each look. Do you wear a t shirt under the sweater on “non-cami” days? You know, to keep the sweater fresher I’m always looking for ways to cut down on cleaning the cashmere. Do you know where I’m going with this?
I seriously love both of these looks. I’ve had this Halogen sweater for about two years now and it really holds up well! I shave it after every few wears and I’ve even washed it (as per your post on the subject) and it still looks great, even being worn at least once a week for the past two winter!
