I’m typically all about the jeans for fall… That is, until I fell in love with this under-$80 faux-leather skirt from Treasure & Bond.
At first glance, I knew I’d like this skirt: black, faux leather, A-line shape, midi length, cool details — what’s not to love. But I didn’t realize how versatile it would be until I started playing around with some outfit combos.
It turns out that this midi skirt was just the transitional piece I needed to take me from the end of summer directly into the fall season. It not only fits my fun sporty-edgy vibe, but it works perfectly for some workwear looks, as well!
6 Ways To Wear A Faux-Leather Midi Skirt In Alllll Your Fall Outfits
Yes, granted, faux leather is not the thing you want to wear if you have a really hot summer day… But you know those cool-ish days this time of year where you want to feel a little fall-inspired but you still need to be in short sleeves? Yep, this midi skirt is such a cute option for those days!
AND this Treasure & Bond skirt works for those layered-up, cooler days we’ll have later too. It looks great with knee-high boots, but it also works with sneakers and even loafers! I know. I was skeptical too, but I dig it.
Sizing Details: You might be wondering about sizing on this baby before we get into the outfits, eh? I’d say it’s pretty true to size. It has a cute front slit and a front zipper, and the faux leather is soft and high quality (no funny smell). I initially tried the small here and went with a medium for a comfier fit in the waist. As a reminder, I’m 5’4″ and a size 6/8 with a shorter, wider midsection.
1. With A Jean Jacket + Brown Knee-High Boots + A Green Crossbody
I love this outfit combo so much. I can’t wait for a dinner out or fun event when it gets a little cooler.
These Schutz Analeah knee-high boots are chic and gorgeous with a slightly high but walkable heel. They make every dress or skirt I wear them with look leveled up. You can see how I styled them up another way over here.
And this See by Chloe saddle bag is another outfit-maker. I keep grabbing it for a huge variety of looks, and I’m SO impressed with the beautiful details.

2. With Cowboy Boots + A Graphic Tee
This combo wound up being one of my very faves from this session. LOVE it. I was thinking of ways to make the on-trend cowboy-boot thing more “me,” more edgy…and this is what I came up with: Just add black (faux) leather. I adore this outfit so much! I already wore it out to lunch recently.
My favorite versatile cowboy boots are in a warm neutral tan like this, and I love a nubuck or suede for a soft texture that’s easy to pair with everything (like these from Dolce Vita).
For me, shiny leather cowboy boots with contrast stitching and fancier details stand out and look too costume-y. This neutral pair blends in with all my fave fall fabrics a little more seamlessly.

3. With A Preppy Striped Sweater + Lug-Sole Loafers
OK, I wouldn’t normally do a skirt with loafers, honestly, but the edginess of the faux leather made me attempt this…and I think I’m in love!
The chunky platform loafers by Franco Sarto are making a big appearance this fall too, and while I usually wear them with jeans or trousers, I’m digging this combination for something different.
This rag & bone striped zip sweater is also one of the sweaters I can’t wait to wear a ton soon. I know there were mixed reviews during the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale, but I really adore it — especially when it comes to the versatility of the double-zipper detail. It looks so cute unzipped a bit at the top and bottom. TTS.

4. With A Slouchy Sweater + Suede Booties
First of all, if you haven’t heard, I love a black-and-brown combo. Secondly, this dolman pullover is my new favorite comfy, easy sweater. It’s under $60 and from New Jersey-based, mom-owned brand Social Threads. It comes in a bunch of colors and looks totally chic!
Love the tan/black/caramel-brown color palette together for warming up this black skirt, temperature-wise but also in the color scheme. This will be a real go-to dressed-up fall look for me. It’s chic but comfy and could totally go to the office.

5. With An Ivory Blazer + Taupe Knee Boots
This was a look from my NSale try-on post this summer, and I’m still digging it. Again, the warm ivory and taupe tones here make the black take on a whole new vibe, and we totally have another office-appropriate combo on our hands. This Reiss blazer is stunning in person, BTW. I have so many blazers, but I’m now kicking myself for returning it.
I already had taupe knee boots, but, gosh, I wish I’d been able to keep this tall Sam Edelman kitten-heel pair too. They’re comfy and sooo soft and walkable. And because I always get asked, this is how I protect all my suede boots.

6. With A White Tee + High-Tops
I’m a little obsessed with high-top sneakers, friends. I keep collecting them, and these Nike Dunks are my most recent find. Love how they make this faux-leather skirt go in a sporty direction, and this long-sleeve tee from small brand Love Trust is SO good too! Comfy, a perfect weight and loooong sleeves with thumbholes. Size up if between. A little snug in the arms.
Shop A Few More Faux-Leather Midi Skirts
I love the one I have, but it’s always nice to compare what else is out there! I’m not a miniskirt gal, so I’m stoked to see so many knee-length, midi and maxi options out right now. That Isabel Marant option is stunning.
Welp, there we have it. This is the stuff I live for, friends. Fall is the best season, and stying up pieces like this rad skirt is so my jam. I hope it’s given you some inspo for our upcoming fall weather! Until next time…
xo,
L

Well, hi there, Pinners. You’ll love this.

Oooh these styling suggestions are so helpful. I have a pleated version from Buru and am now inspired to try it with a whole bunch of shoes I hadn’t thought of before.
Yay! So glad it was helpful! 🫶🏻
No lie, I’ve been on the hunt for a leather midi for weeks. But I’m looking for brown or maroon and not 400 dollars. Did you find any in your online travels?
Ooh I can’t think of one off the top of my head but will totes keep an eye out! Maybe Mango?
You can also order that long sleeve white tee direct from the LoveTrust website for 60% off! It is final sale though. I have one and love it!
I don’t own a faux leather skirt (or a leather one for that matter)….but I found this post so helpful and delightful. You are adorable; all your suggestions are fantastic. Thank you.
Gosh thank you so much! I’m so glad it’s helpful. That’s always my goal!
I have a black leather midi skirt that I thrifted forever ago that I haven’t worn in the last few years because it’s felt tired. I love these outfits for a fresh way to look at an older piece in my closet. Thanks!!
