Happy Friday! Early Black Friday sales are in full swing, so let’s jump right into the good stuff — starting with Shana’s fave Fair Isle sweater, now 50% off at J.Crew (code: SHOPEARLY)! It’s a little festive, a little sporty, cute with cozy layers and also dresses up rather nicely. Even if the “dressing up” part just means a fancy bag (also on sale) and walkable heels.
Our Editors’ Top Early Black Friday Sales Picks: J.Crew, Nordstrom + More
Saks’ sale section just got really good with extra markdowns up to 50% off. These jeans go with all the winter boots, and Linzi’s eyeing up this cropped faux-fur jacket.
Cashmere on sale? Yes, please — we’re stoked to see Naked Cashmere half off sitewide. This boxy turtleneck is Shana’s go-to this winter (going fast), and this mock-neck pullover looks just as good with loose, straight-leg jeans as it does layered over slip dresses.
Take 40% off at Madewell with code OHJOY! What’s more holiday-chic than velvet wide-leg pants or a pair of metallic Mary Jane flats?
And be sure to check out our Black Friday cheat sheet — the one-stop-shop for all the deets on Black Friday deals. When you’re done there, take a peek at our post dedicated to Nordstrom’s Black Friday sale (happening now!).

Hey, hey, Friday! Well, my fam sure will be glad today because…I’ve totes lost my voice. This dang fall, y’all. It feels like the preschool days again. But thankfully I can cozy up and peruse the sales, drink loads of my favorite tea and — I do NOT usually do this, this early — watch a Christmas movie later today. Oh, I will full on start the decor and music NEXT week, but I try to wait. No excuse this year, though, with this dang cold and all…diving right in.
I gotta do a Christmas-movie-light, though…no “Home Alone” or “Elf” yet, heaven forbid. Wait?! How have I not seen “Bad Moms Christmas”? Oh lordy, haha. For any fellow Bill Murray fans, I highly recommend “A Very Murray Christmas.” It’s as quirky as you would hope.
OK, but not to disregard the holiday-table-fun happening NEXT week…I’m thinking of making this app and a salad like this to accompany all the regular dishes for Turkey Day. Mostly I can’t wait to make my East Arkansas grandma’s cornbread dressing, though. I make her exact recipe from an email she sent me years ago (you know, the “recipe” that’s essentially just “put in a bit of this and a bit of that” but add a few chestnuts to it and lots of fresh herbs. Mmmm.
Oh Dang, Those Fancy Sneakers I LOVE…are on sale today! Free People is having 20% off $250+, so I’d snag a pair of those sneakers (check the colors, y’all!), these pants I love (size down), and/or this lovely puffed-sleeve cashmere sweater. There is SO much amazingness at Free People right now. I’d also recommend that Packable Poncho Scarf thing. I have it in the beige color, and it’s so good to wear over bulky sweatshirts + sweaters.
I Need This Gorgeous Slouch In My Life: This Gap waffle turtleneck sweater could not look anymore enticing, and it’s 40% off with code FIRSTDIBS right now. I can’t decide on that gorgeous sky blue or the black tho…
Newest Item On My Wish List: A cashmere robe. YEP. Quince has one now! It’s under $170 and looks light and floaty and amazing. I love the Oatmeal color best, but the others are so lovely too. Gosh. I didn’t really ever think about a cashmere robe until my fab friend Tamara said she had trouble finding one to replace hers from years ago. The epitome of loungewear fanciness in my book, haha.

Hello! I’m in Philly for the first time in over a year and am loving it. The city is such a fun place to be — especially during the holidays. I also kind of can’t believe Thanksgiving is next week… I have the plates for it and pretty much nothing else. #priorities 😂
Being in the city, I just spent a ton of time in Nordstrom Rack and always forget how good its deals are — like this faux-leather jacket I’ve had and loved for years (see it on me here) that’s on sale for under $60, or even Sorels and UGGs and Sam Edelman shoes I’ve been wanting, for a fraction of what they are at Nordstrom. I’m definitely going to be doing a ton of my Christmas shopping there. (Nordstrom Rack makes stocking stuffers really easy too.)
Time to Stock Up! Colleen Rothschild’s Black Friday sale is EPIC — 30% off sitewide with code BF22. All of my favorites (from skincare to hair care) are in this post, but if you want my two faves: This eye serum and this retinol night oil are my holy grails.
AM I CRAZY?? I just love these Grecian bust pots from Anthro (30% off in cart) and was happy to see over 300 reviewers agree with me. Whew! (Take 30% off a ton of the home decor right now!)
AG Jeans In Winter White? Sak’s Black Friday sale is really good (extra 50% off select styles), and I’m seriously tempted to get these AG jeans in the Silent Smoke color (I’ll just call it Winter White). They’re down to $103 (from $198), and this particular cigarette fit is one of my favorites. (They look very different on me than on the model — you can see what they look like on me here, scroll to #2.)
Free People, Tho… We’re obviously all obsessed with Free People’s sale (because it’s such a rarity for everything to be on sale), and my favorite cashmere sweater is from there — I love it so much I have it in two colors. It’s super-soft with a sexy neckline, and it looks amazing with the necklace I just got from there! ❤️

It’s beginning to look a lot like winter here in Colorado! I woke up this morning to a foot of the prettiest white snow. It’s that perfectly fluffy and airy snow that Colorado is so well known for, and I have to say I’m quite excited about it. I just pulled out my moon boots and one of my favorite puffers to shovel a path for my pups. One is seriously snow-obsessed, and the other can’t stand any kind of precipitation. Now that the weather has me fully in the wintery holiday spirit, let’s talk about these sales because they’re GOOD!!!
Oh, Sale Yeah! Free People’s entire site is on sale!!! This is such a rarity, and right now you can get up to 25% off your purchase depending on how much you spend. My absolute favorite sweaters: The Easy Street tunic and the cropped version are both available in lots of colors, and for sizing reference, I wear the sweater in size large.
Sneaker City: I can safely say that adidas is my favorite brand when it comes to sneakers. I own several NMDs and Sambas, my favorite hiking shoes are from adidas, and my running shoes and dropset trainers are also from adidas. I easily own at least 10 pairs of sneakers from adidas, and right now it’s running a pretty major sale! My trainers are currently $39 for members, and these Supernovas are on sale for $40! And if you’re curious, this is one of the things I’m buying my 19-year-old brother for Christmas, and it’s only $21!!!!
Caraway vs. Our Place: I currently own three sets of nontoxic cookware and have decided I’m going to spill the tea on which one is the best in a future YouTube video. My current favorite pot is from Our Place, and I just received the entire Caraway cook set and can’t wait to tell you all my honest thoughts! Caraway’s entire site is currently 20% off, and Our Place is 30% off sitewide!

Well, Thanksgiving is officially less than a week away, and…I’ve barely thought about it.
This holiday will just be my sweet little family of three, and the forecast shows temps in the 70s (oops, looks like I need to change up my outfit idea), so I imagine we’ll be spending a lot of time outside. I’m genuinely so excited for holidays in a new climate.
While planning the menu IS on this weekend’s to-do list, so are the sales (OMG, they’re good)…
Best Sale Of The Weekend: My favorite investment cardigan is 25% off (as is the whole site, babes!), just use code VIP25 at checkout (code may change as we get closer to Thanksgiving/official BF). Also in love with this cardigan (same shape but alpaca) and this crewneck — I prefer size large in everything for an oversized drape.
Scratch That, THIS One’s The Best: Only available today (Friday) my all-time fave brand is taking up to 25% off depending on what you spend (automatically applied in cart). I have this puffer vest and my most worn light fleece in a new color added to my cart (…so far, anyway…). And don’t skip my all-time-fave sweater set!
Members Shop First: The perfect black sweatshirt? Sign in to your account, and it’s just $33 (mind blown).
IT JUST KEEPS GETTING BETTER: The blue cords I can’t get enough of (nor could the employees when I tried them on for this Dressing Room Selfies post) are on sale (runs big, I sized down to a 27).

Well…it’s the Friday before Black Friday, but it definitely FEELS like Black Friday to me! I’m excited to get my shopping done now, so I can relax and spend some time outdoors on ACTUAL Black Friday. Easy to do with SO many retailers getting an early start on all the good deals.
Best Deal (So Far) On MOTHER Denim: I love this style and wash with a big puffer and all the winter boots…more MOTHER on sale here. Or if you’ve been wanting to try Moussy Vintage, AMAZING prices and selection here. I’m ordering these.
Cushiony Comfy Cute Hiking Boots: 25% off my Danner 600 Waterproof Suede Hiking Boots AND the full-grain leather version. Lightweight, cushiony, bouncy footbed, and more of a sneaker-boot feel than the traditional Danners (which are also 25% off!)
Top Deal On Quick & Easy Skincare: Black Friday sales started today at Colleen Rothschild with code BF22! A whopping 30% off!!!! This is my fave CR product (that’s an absolute pleasure to use), but I’m SUPER into the spa-strength, easy-to-use glycolic-acid pads too.
All 4 Of Us Are Fighting Over this. Every. Single. Night. 30% off. We need more.

We’re going to see “Wakanda Forever” this weekend, and I’m THRILLED. You have no idea how much this movie means for the Indigenous people or those of us proud of our Indigenous ancestry in Central America (it’s mostly inspired in the Maya civilization) and the rest of Latin America. I’m not a Marvel fan, but the “Black Panther” part is so GOOD.
Best Black Pants I’ve Seen: Abercrombie killed it with these mixed denim/faux-leather pants. Big WOW — they’re already added to my cart.
A Statement-Making Bag: This quilted bag is so cool while being a good size. I’m obsessed with the wine color.
All About Flare Jeans: Flare jeans are all I want right now, and this pair is so feaking good. It looks substantial and flattering.

We broke the snow seal in Grand Rapids on Monday, and it’s been snowing all week. I’ve been dreading winter basically since last Spring (can you tell I’m sick of it??), but I have to admit that all this snow has finally got me feeling festive. I’m trying not to scratch that Christmas-decoration itch until after Thanksgiving, but it’s getting harder to not pull out all holiday decor by the day.
Oh, Kale Yeah! These organic, non-GMO kale chips are super-yummy and also filling. They’re a little expensive but so good, and they shipped super=quick.
Faux-Leather Love: My favorite faux-leather pants from Gap are currently on sale for $71. Also, be on the look out for my post on three ways to style these pants for the holidays — coming soon to TME!

Holy heck, did the holidays sneak up on me this year! I am sorely behind on holiday shopping (which has me feeling just a wee bit anxious — but also…excited? What does it say about life when I get my kicks from shopping under pressure?). But I’ve at least figured out what I’ll be wearing to feel festive (and yet still like me) this season.
Just about the only person I’ve got completely checked off our list is Lana-bug. If you’ve got a bookworm too, we picked up the latest installment of the illustrated Harry Potter series (on sale!), and it’s been a genuine challenge keeping it under wraps since it arrived. Everyone in the family pores over Jim Kay’s artwork. If you’re just getting started, the illustrated series (start here) is a great way to introduce young’uns to world of Harry Potter. Some of the pictures are a little dark and creepy (in the best way!), but we went through all seven books twice by the time Lana was 6, and I completely credit these books with getting her hooked.
Here’s everything else worth shopping this weekend!
Buy These Three Things At Gap: 1. This shaker-stitch sweater (it’s finally on sale!); 2. this shaker-stitch cardigan (I have two and am considering a third); and 3. these barrel jeans. Oh, OK, or these barrel jeans. The quality of the sweaters is so freaking good — they wash well and feel like they’ll last a lifetime. I can’t get enough. And I have the jeans in four washes (soon to be five) and love the forgiving yet flattering off-duty-model fit. I wear my true size.
This Almost Never Happens. My Danner boots are 25% off — and, wait for it, fully stocked. Shana could also tell you that these might be the only hiking boots you’ll ever need, and on top of being comfortable and expertly crafted, they’re also cool enough to wear off the trail too. Iconic, even.
Battle Of The Black Jeans: These Joe’s Jeans are in my Nordstrom cart as we speak. They look endlessly wearable, especially in a non-distressed black wash. (So easy to dress up or down.) Also contemplating these black-washed jeans from Abercrombie, which are admittedly a whole different (read: trendier) vibe but look so fun and potentially flattering. Decisions, decisions!
Happy weekend! Xo, Em
