Hey, hey, Friday! I keep convincing myself it’s getting lighter out, but gahhh, it’s still dark and it’s five minutes till 7 a.m. here. Winter, you are a tough one.
My gal Sienna has her first School of Rock performance tomorrow here in town. The songs are from the “Stranger Things” soundtrack, and I cannot wait. She’s singing lead on “Detroit Rock City” by KISS, “My Bologna” by Weird Al (yep, haha), and get this…”Time After Time” by Cindi Lauper. I know. I’m gonna be a mess in the audience. She’s just 9 and already performed in her school talent show last spring. She’s a brave little soul and loves it so much. Stoked. I’m sure I’ll share some proud mama moments over on my Instagram.
Items I’m into this week? These lug-sole loafers (gah), adidas Forum Low in a gorgeous stone monochrome, this adorable Valentine’s card kit and our Printfresh x The Mom Edit PJs. The print is SO freaking cute (I now have them in my possession), and the T-shirt is ah-mazing. I’ll wear that all the time, not just as pajamas. Ooh, and I JUST spotted this and this at Social Threads in its new-arrivals section. SO GOOD! Lots of happy vibes over there. Social Threads’ stuff tends to get snapped up quickly, though, heads-up.
There’s a glimmer of daytime here now. Whew! Have a great weekend, friends. xo
ONE: Athleta Stellar Flare Trouser – 20% off your purchase at Athleta, friends. Time to stock up on those versatile pieces, like these amazing black pants. Just did an article where I styled these up — check it out here. LOVE them. They fit a little small. Wearing an 8 reg, and I’m 5’4”.
TWO: Sorel Ona 718 Low – These sneakers are so cute and comfy. I would suggest sizing up a half size for a little more room with socks. LOVE the blue detail, but there’s also this similar version in monochromatic options.
THREE: Sorel Brex Chelsea – LOVE. These ivory boots are my current fave non-sneaker shoe. They’re so great for our rainy weather but look so chic and add a fresh pop. See them styled up for barre3 on our Instagram here. TTS.

The kids started ski lessons last weekend! Greenlea was NOT happy I “made” her go, but she ended up loving it. She went from looking like me on the tow rope (grabbing the bar, bending forward, falling backward, and then crouching into an awkward squat until reaching the top) to cruising down the hill on her own. Ozzie did a great job too — I love hearing his little noises of excitement as he comes down the hill. His class of 3- to 4-year-olds learning how to ski is BEYOND adorable. Those little red cheeks! 🤗
As far as sales, Athleta is offering 20% off purchases right now, and I dare you not to gasp out loud when you feel how soft and comfy this Coaster Luxe Sweatshirt is (love the thumbholes). Pair it with these flare pants and some sneakers for a super-easy weekend look. More faves below!
ONE: I seriously cannot get over this deal — these buttery-soft, leather Vince boots are over 60% off at Saks…down to $168 from $450! My mom said, “Ooh, I have to get these,” the second she felt them. I love the higher shaft that works with cropped jeans…SO, so good!
TWO: This cashmere boatneck sweater from Naadam (sustainable!) is on sale in a number of different colors, and I’m eyeing up that peacock blue, myself.
THREE: These PAIGE jeans are everything. I’ve been wearing them with lacy tights underneath for extra warmth. 30% off!

Happy Friday, beautiful people! I feel like every week for the past few weeks, I’ve raved about how much I’m loving my time in Nashville, and today is the same! I’ve found an incredible community here in such a short amount of time, and I’m full of gratitude that I get to really experience living here and being with my family.
This week was also a monumental week for me as well, because after deliberating for years I’ve finally decided that I’ll be getting a plus-size tummy tuck. I’m proud of myself for choosing to do the things that make sense for me, and I can’t wait to share more of my journey with you all soon. In the meantime, if you want to hear more about my story, head over to the “Big Girls Gone Wild” podcast for all the tea.
XX – Kat
ONE: I’m a sucker for Alice + Olivia’s vibrantly colored tops, and the quality is beyond good. I just picked up this gorgeous Kelly green sleeveless turtleneck and am obsessed. It’s seriously so good!
TWO: Athleta is running a major sale right now and offering 20% off your purchase! I’ve been wearing my Elation flare pants everywhere, and I love that they work for athleisure looks, but they’re also nice enough to wear to work.
THREE: I’ve got a major crush on these Moncler boots for winter, and even though there’s zero snow here in Nash, I’m convinced I need them for the rest of my winter in Colorado. They come in black and a pretty cream color.

It’s back! The cheery yellow sweater from one of my latest posts sold out the very first day. But I just noticed the sweater has been restocked — along with a new, really fun multicolor stripe that’s tempting. PLUS, you can score major discounts right now (cha-ching!). It’s the perfect piece to carry you through winter and into spring.
Speaking of winter, I think our multiweek rainstorms have finally calmed down here (although it did unexpectedly pour again last night, hmm). I’m a big fan of rain, I just wasn’t mentally prepared for PNW weather in San Diego. But the long-range forecast is showing sunny + 60s, and that is juuuuuust what this girl needs.
As for sales? There is so much good denim: Abercrombie has most everything on sale right now (both the flares and slim straights are calling my name), and I love that you can grab different inseams. And between Zappos, adidas and Nordstrom, there are some wildly good sneakers + boots up for grabs too!
All my faves are below. Happy weekend! Xx
ONE: Levi’s jeans for 50% off?! Yes, please! These vintage-inspired straight-leg jeans are 100% cotton and make your booty look fantastic — scoop ‘em up fast!
TWO: Need a little pep in your winter step? Add color into your workout gear — it totally works. My red leggings (TTS) are currently marked down (available in plus sizes), and you can score even more savings on the bright baby-blue pair too!
THREE: You’ve heard me go on and on about the Elation flares (still heavily wearing on repeat), and now I’m just a fan of all Elation leggings in general. These Elation Lasercut Tights are maybe the *prettiest* leggings I’ve ever owned, and they level up my leggings-and-sweatshirt outfits immensely (20% off in cart)!

Well, hey, gang! This past week was so good for this tired mama’s soul. My bestie, Amanda, was in town from Ohio, so we pulled the kiddo from school for a couple of days and all went to hang out in wine country for a few days. It’s one of Chris’ and my favorite homes away from home, and even though we did a whole lotta nothing, it was memorable all the same.
(I even went off the no-dairy wagon and got the mandilli pasta at Bistro Don Giovanni because it’s easily the best pesto dish that exists. It’s a must-do if you’re in the area. And if you’re not, it’s the dish after which I modeled this super-easy pesto recipe. A little taste of Napa right at home!)
Other fun things from this past week: Eleanor started cruising, which is both so fun and so terrifying (cue all the baby-proofing); we popped into on of my favorite local boutiques, Crow’s Nest, and I was reminded just how much I love in-person shopping; and we re-upped our CSA membership for 2023, and I can’t wait to fill my bod with all the good plants. (If you’re in the Bay Area, I can’t recomment Greenhearts Family Farm enough. The weekly or biweekly produce boxes are delivered to your door, bursting with some of the freshest fruits and veggies from the area.)
Off to shop the sales, specifically this tee, these $20 cords and these white aviators — such a deal! Have a great weekend. Xo, Em
ONE: Restocked and on sale! For some reason, people hold a real grudge against these Frye boots, but I’ve had them for five years, and they’re one of the most-worn items in my closet and *so* comfy. (We’re in Sonoma this week, and they’re the only pair of shoes I brought.) I will say sizing up half is absolutely key (the vamp was so tight on my true size that I couldn’t get them on), so maybe that’s the issue? Anyhoo, I can’t recommend them enough. Oh, and my Levi’s are on mega sale too. We’re talking 60% off (just $40). True to size.
TWO: The sunshine this week has me dreaming of spring, and this little dress would be so cute layered up with a cardi and boots. Nursing-friendly and a great price.

Hiya, happy weekend! Not much new to report other than my dad and I are planning a trip to Northern Italy for the end of this March, and I’m beyond (BEYOND!!!) excited. I live for traveling, and being able to plan this trip out will help me pass the dreary January days a little faster.
My dad is my best friend, and we plan a trip like this together every few years. Last time, we went to Paris! Our itinerary: We’ll fly into Rome, take a train to Florence, then to Lake Como and finally Milan, spending a few days in each place. Any suggestions for places we should go while we are in the area would be so appreciated.
This will be my first real visit to Italy — we stopped in Rome for less than 48 hours on our way to Ethiopia when I was in high school (over 20 years ago), and all I really remember was throwing a coin into the Trevi Fountain and wanting to grow up to be the uber-chic Italian woman who was our tour guide one day. I’m practicing my Italian on Duolingo everyday. “Un caffè con latte, per favore.“
When it comes to sales happening right now, at the top of my list is Athleta because currently everything is 20% off, including the Transcend Stash Straight-Leg pants that I have and love, as well as these Venice Colorblock Wide-Leg Pants that I just ordered.
ONE: I fell in love with these MOTHER Spinner Skimp High-Waist Jeans earlier this month. They have such a fun, casual, vintage vibe. They’re super-comfortable and run a little large. They’re currently 40% off at Nordstrom.
TWO: This Bernardo Plaid Collarless Coat is one of my favorite coats from last year’s Nordstrom Anniversary Sale — it’s the perfect statement-making coat. The blue is gorgeous in person, and it’s over 60% off at Nordstrom, while supplies last.

Old readers! Remember when I joined TME? My youngest was only 4 months old, and he’s turning SIX this weekend. SIX!! I’m feeling all the feels and getting some baby fever which is crazy for me. I’ve claimed to be done since he was born, and now…hmm, I don’t know. My husband is crossing his fingers it’s a phase. We shall see…
THREE: Joe’s Goldie Wide-Leg Jeans (27) – Not the same as the other pair. This is a higher-rise, wider-leg style, which is so sexy yet comfy. My exact wash has only a few left, but a newer and lighter shade is also on sale. Prefer a black wash? Not on sale but so good too.
