Laura’s Top Sale Picks

Hey, hey, Friday! HOW is it June? Lordy. This year is flying. I’m not complaining because we’ve had the most gorgeous days here this week. I’ve napped outside in the shade twice. Hi, I’m Laura. I’m 45, and apparently I love naps now. How boring, hahaha.

Let me just give a little plug though on the flip side of that for strength training. I started doing the barre3 strength class once a week in late December when they were rolling them out and WOW. I’ve seen the most amazing improvements in my body since then! This 45-year-old now gets why people say to lift weights. I feel so strong in my core and back and can properly do a plank without feeling like I’m going to die for the first time since having a kiddo. 5/5 stars…recommend!

Ooh, OK, this linen-blend tank at Gap for $22 is my top find. So summery and feminine. I’m loving Madewell’s sale section this weekend too. Lastly, the cargo skirt I adore is on sale at Nordstrom! I wear an 8, and it’s perfection…front slit and a sporty fabric drawstring waist. It’s super-cute with a simple tee or tank.

jeans (28) | blazer

ONE: These Madewell Dadjeans are now my go-to jeans. I hacked off a bit at the bottom (just at the top of my foot) after having and not wearing them for months. I adore them now, AND they’re on sale. TTS. Wearing a 28. Slouchy and so great. And still cute on the booty even though…the slouchiness.

TWO: I just got this Madewell Larsen linen blazer in, and wowza. This color is gorgeous. True to size, but size up if between. I got the small, and it fits just right with a tee underneath (if you want more slouch size up too). I love it so, so much! On sale in green, and it also comes in a bright white. It’s a fab summer blazer.

I love short weeks after long holiday weekends. This week has been HOT here, and I’m loving every second of it. We even made it up to camp on Lake Independence, and I’ve been living in my swimsuits and cover-ups…if you haven’t checked out my swimsuit cover-ups post, I shared six cute ones under $100. (I just snagged this one in green since it’s over 30% off right now!)

The kids are with their dad this weekend, so I’ll be keeping myself busy with work and friends and general distractions like retail therapy. Speaking of, I just bought these Jeffrey Campbell sandals and am thinking they might be the solution to pants getting stuck up on the heel? They’re 25% off right now, and seem like they’ll go with everything, so I’ll be sure to report back!

top | dress

ONE: The Kut from the Kloth top everyone went crazy for last year is back in stock in a ton of colors/patterns — up to 40% off! (I layer it over my fave Hanro cami for extra coverage, and I like to either tuck it in or knot it at the bottom like I’m doing here. Wearing a small.)

TWO: The ruched dress I have in multiple colors for summer is also up to 40% off (under $30!) — and it looks cute layered under the Kut from the Kloth top too.

May Gray has turned right on into June Gloom, and both months appear to be taking their titles very seriously. We’ve had so much gloomy, gray, chilly, misty skies here in San Diego that I’m still fully in cozy outfits on a daily basis. I haven’t lived through a full summer here yet, so while everyone keeps telling me it does get hot here…I’m not sure I believe them. And honestly, I don’t mind — my cozy outfits have been ON POINT (if I do say so myself).

Sales are random but fun this weekend: Nordstrom threw up a ton of Topshop products in the Limited-Time Sale section, and if you can look past the wildly artistic product shots, a few things actually look really epic. I’m eyeing up these cuffed joggers and this 100% cotton poplin dress, to name a few. Don’t miss my sale picks below — because THE PANTS OF SUMMER are back, friends.

crochet tee (M) | gauze pants (M, T)

ONE: After selling out over Memorial Day weekend, my crochet T-shirt was restocked (also in black)!! But seeing as it’s still on sale (under $30), I’m sure it will fly quickly again. Soft, stretchy and surprisingly versatile, this cool tee is perfect as an alternative to a regular T-shirt…just helps me feel a bit more put-together. TTS, wearing a medium.

TWO: The pants of the summer are back in stock (currently in all colors!!), and you can score a sweet little 10% off in cart. I’ve worn these more than anything else in my closet the past few months — they’re worth every penny! TTS but extra-long in length — a regular inseam would have been perfect on me, and I’m just under 5’10”.

P.S. The new matching top is PHENOMENAL (TTS).

A little real talk today (TW: mental illness)… Depression is just something I’ve dealt with for as long as I can remember. It’s not something I talk about often because it’s always on my mind anyways. Sometimes these little dark periods come out of nowhere, even when life is going well, and with that comes a sense of guilt and FOMO.

The older I’ve gotten, the more I’m trying to sit with these feelings and deal with them head-on instead of pushing them away and ignoring them like usual. Acknowledging my feelings and talking more openly about them have been a goal of mine this year in hopes of shining a light on this issue, and trying to help others out there like me know that you aren’t alone, no matter how good you’ve gotten at masking it. 😉 Small daily rituals, like early morning walks, always help. And today I’m grateful for my TME community and the opportunity to talk about fashion, which is one of my passions.

 leggings (M) | jeans (28)

ONE: Vuori Daily Leggings (in Oxford Blue) – These are my favorite workout leggings — ever. And despite the light shade of blue, they’re thick as can be without any see-through. Still fully stocked in sizes XS to XL.

TWO: rag & bone Logan Distressed Wide-Leg JeansThese are some of my most-worn distressed wide-leg jeans in my closet. I love these jeans! Limited sizing available.

Kat’s Top Sale Picks

Hi, hi, hiiii, beautiful people! I’m finally slow-rolling my way back into work again, and am now officially six weeks post-op from my plus-size tummy tuck and bra-line back lift. It’s definitely been a journey and has been life-changing in more ways than I can tell you. If you want the full tea on my experience, then listen to my podcast for the 411.

I’m still taking things very slow and spend the majority of my day drinking a ton of water and elevating my legs, because I’m still swollen af and will be for quite some time. While wearing actual clothes isn’t a top priority for me, I’ve gotten some new things that are beyond cute. Especially this blazer-&-short set that I can’t wait to wear out to brunch with my besties sometime soon! Oh, and this summery dress from Anthro…immediately added to cart. XX – Kat

bralette | blazer | shorts | hat | sandals | bra | shorts

ONE: Would you believe me if I told you that the entire outfit I am wearing above is $100?! I’ve been a big fan of crinkle-gauze material this season, and I’m in love with my set that I picked up from Maurices. It has some seriously cute summer staples for straight- and plus-size babes — sizes go up to a 4X! For sizing reference I’m wearing a 2X in the bralette, 3X in the blazer, and 4X in the shorts. The shorts and blazer don’t have stretch, so if you’re curvy like me, you’ll want to get a larger size.

TWO: I’ve been living in loungewear, and I’m so in love with this cute af bra-and-shorts set that I recently picked up from Lane Bryant. It’s such a freaking fun color and gives me all the Barbie vibes, and the fit is too good!

It’s our last day in Italia and I’m so ready to go home. It was our first time doing a multi-city trip in less than two weeks and I don’t think I’d want to do it again. We did get some nice relaxed days in Abruzzo, and I fell in love with the Adriatic Sea. Gorgeous.
Now on to sales. These Joe’s Mia jeans are on sale and I can’t believe most sizes are in stock. They’re some of my most worn jeans. The wash is lighter and bluer in person which I think is perfect for this season.

dress l sandals

ONE: Free People Open Back Dress – this was my best seller last week and for good reason. The top part is amazing and the ruching is so flattering. It’s the perfect summer dress.

Anne’s Top Sale Picks

I leave this weekend to fly out to Portland, and I couldn’t be more excited. This week has been so, so busy preparing to take a week off, and my recent favorites have been sustaining me. I need those outfits that I can just grab off the hanger. Some of the sales that brands started last week are still ongoing, and I have some great picks this week.

First, my favorite A-line shirt dress in a bright red color has been restocked. The dress inspired my widget below, featuring all my favorite bright red and orange items. Personally, I’m thinking about picking up this beautiful, structured linen dress and this stunning blue bag

dress (L) | dress (L)

ONE: Crinkle gauze is the fabric of the season! And this tiered halter dress is giving Grecian goddess for under $60 right now. FYI, the dress is lined and opaque.

TWO: This linen-blend puff-sleeve dress is just so easy to wear. Not too casual, not too dressy — this is the baby bear of summer dresses for me. On sale for under $50 this weekend.

  1. Jess you’re mentioning your mental health is so awesome. We just don’t about it enough. I’m also trying to be ok sitting with my feelings… and being ok feeling depressed. Transitioning to becoming a single mom has been so hard emotionally and financially.
It’s crazy how we can put on such a brave face and no one has a clue!

With that being said… Scotti your mention of “kids with their dad” made me pause and re-read…. That’s what I say every other weekend now. Are you going to be a single mom as well. I was just hoping that I was reading into it wrong !

    Love these sales reports !

  2. Hey Laura, what tan slides are you wearing with the black Madewell dad jeans? I’m looking for something just like that.

  3. Scotti- just had to re-read your line about “ kids with their dad” too…. Did I read that the same as the above comment? Thinking of you …

  4. Deirdre, I feel you 100%. I’ve gone back and forth on if/how/when to share the news of my divorce with you guys and I never really landed on the “right” answer. So I thought I’d sneak a little line in there…let’s just say I’ve learned this past year that being a single mom is not easy. Your brave face comment is so true – I hope you’re doing ok! You’re definitely not alone. 🙏🏼

  5. Thanks Deirdre! It’s hard to talk about, but it shouldn’t be. I never am sure how to bring it up…So, you’re support and your comment really mean a lot! xo, Jess
