Before we get into our usual roundup, we’d be remiss not to sound an alarm in response to the devastating wildfires in Hawaii. Our hearts go out to the affected communities. Check out @ainamomona, a non-profit organization, dedicated to environmental and social justice in the Hawaiian Islands, for more resources and information. You can also donate directly to the Maui Strong Fund, here. Your support goes a long way.
Our top five sales this week come from brands and retailers that have made a sustained level of environmental commitment and manufacturing transparency:
The 5 Best Sales This Week
- Reformation has boasted 100% carbon neutrality since 2021 — and they’ve also committed to reaching a circular model by 2030. Ok, technically not on sale… but this linen mini dress is a practical steal for under $100.
- Vans made the top 10 on the 2023 Fashion Transparency Index, and has committed to major goals (decreasing CO2 output, eliminating packaging waste and adopting a circular model) by 2030. Shana wears their iconic slip-ons (the ComfyCush version) with everything from jeans to dresses; take 20% off at checkout.
- Eileen Fisher has been diverting textile waste since 2009 with their ReNew program, which repurposes damaged textiles. This jersey tee in an updated silhouette is the kind of wardrobe staple you can dress up or down. Now marked down to $60 and fully stocked up to size 3X.
- DL1961 reduced their production water waste by over 1,000+ gallons, breaking down landfill textile waste into recyclable fibers to make their jeans. Use code: AUGUSTSALE23 and snap up these relaxed, full-length jeans for fall.
- Levi’s has committed to new standards of denim production, including the use of low-impact materials (like reconstituted cotton) and significantly reducing water waste. Love the longer inseam on these 501 denim shorts (under $60). You can also shop vintage secondhand straight from Levi’s (use code: LEVISVINTAGE for 15% off!)

We took the kids to the county fair yesterday and they had the best day ever. Riding all the rides, petting all the bunnies/goats/chickens/horses, eating the BIGGEST ice cream treat I’ve ever seen (topped with TWO cookies 😳), getting their faces painted…there was even a magic show that blew Ozzie away. He was running from one thing to another, just hopped up on sugar and having the best time. We passed by some toys he wanted on the way out though, and it quickly turned into “the WORST DAY EVER!!” when I didn’t buy them for him. 🙄 Parenting is fun.
Onto sales: Gap’s Friends & Family Sale is SO good…40% off everything, plus an extra 10% off with code TME10 (oh, and 50% off dresses!). Check out this post featuring two Gap jeans I’ll be wearing all fall…and the comfy outfit I’m wearing now and into early fall (below).

shirt (xs), dress (petite small) | Cover-Up Dress (xs/s)
ONE: This dress is super-comfy and is 50% off (normally $60, on sale for $26)…and the cropped utility shirt is the best layering piece to transition into fall (normally $60, on sale for under $25).
TWO: Becca Beach Date Cover-Up Dress (xs/s) – 30% off one of my favorite cover-ups of the summer! I love the soft fabric and vivid color…I might have to snag that bright yellow or orange since they’re on sale!

Hey, hey Friday! I’m back. Spent two lovely weeks with my family in Bentonville, AR with lots of cousin time, some quality brother time (did you see I roped him into one of our YouTube vids? Ha!) and pool time…where I promptly forgot I’m a pale Portlander now and brought home a sunburn. I KNOW. But I couldn’t resist that good, good vitamin D I have to store up for the winter months haha.
Glad to be back home with my hubs (who had to work) and our pets and my bed, but also happy to be browsing the awesome sales this weekend! Amy and I are both in love with stuff at J.Crew that’s 30% off…fall stuff, too! This soft camel blazer is my top pick and I’m adoring this cable knit sweater, as well. If you’ve been around here for a bit, you know I love a lug sole loafer and I found a few on sale for under $100! This is my favorite pair on sale and I’ve got more below. Happy Weekend!

ONE: These NSF pants I’ve raved about this year are on MAJOR sale, more-so at Saks but also at Shopbop. Saks has them for $88 down from $295! Idk why they’re still around because they’re SO good. TTS and a nice lighter weight for a carpenter style, slightly barrel-leg pant. LOVE mine.
TWO: The Gap Runaround Pants I have in three colors are 40% off and well-stocked! These are super-lightweight but hold up beautifully with all-day wear. I love, love that they come in Petites because that means the rise is shorter and perfect on me! I covered them in my 8 Most-Worn Pieces So Far This Year article that just came out, too.

The hubs surprised me with tickets to Taylor Swift’s last show in L.A. this past week, and it was totally one of the best nights of my life. My voice is hoarse, my feet are sore, and my soul is happy. There’s nothing quite like live music, ammiright though?! We stayed at this gorgeous little hotel on the water and everyone there looked like they had just stepped out of a J.Crew catalog (children included). I’m now fervently scrolling through their 30% off “almost fall” styles…I think I need to start with this and wear it over bikinis for the remainder of summer.
Sales feel extra exciting this weekend, with a pretty little mixture of summer and fall items being available at discounted prices ALL AT ONCE. So whether you’re looking ahead at the seasons to come, or you’re living in a place that requires summer clothing for an extended length of time, there’s a little something for everyone this weekend. Personally, I think I’m most excited about this roundup of Farm Rio flip flops on sale — I’ve wanted a pair for years, and the available color options are so good!

ONE: It’s a fantastic weekend to shop at Gap: they’re having a big 40% off sitewide friends & family sale, and they recently launched a bunch of pre-fall stuff that all looks stellar. They even brought back a few of my favorite staple pieces from last year, including this 100% recycled vest. Super-comfy, runs large (perfect for throwing over everything) and sold lightning fast last fall! RUN!
TWO: Easily one of my most-worn pairs of shorts this spring and summer just hit the sale sections at, uh, every retailer? Find them at Saks OFF 5th , Bloomingdales’, Dillards, Zappos, and Nordstrom — where sizes going fast! They run perfectly slouchy, I grabbed my true size and they’re phenomenally comfy and easy to wear (so much so that I didn’t even care they were shorty-shorts, which is SAYING. SOMETHING).

It’s my Birthday weekend!!! We flew from Jamaica to Bogotá on Monday and will be here for the next few weeks. We will spend my birthday with my Abuelita materna; it’s been 13 years since I got a hug, a kiss, and a blessing from her on my birthday, so that’s all I want (plus some gallina asada (hen), yucca and plantain). Some tias and cousins will be there too, and it will be a packed tiny apartment full of loud and loving people.

ONE: Joe’s Goldie Palazzo Jeans (size up) – I’m so excited to see this on sale. Perfect for fall, these jeans have the most beautiful waist and are some of the softest jeans you’ll ever find. I wore them last fall and winter nonstop. They run small, especially if you’re between sizes. I’m wearing a 27 in the photo but now I need a 28.
TWO: Free People Floral Sundress (S) – Probably one of my most-worn dresses this summer. I love the sexy back, but also how forgiving, soft and comfortable it is. Did I mention it has pockets? If you can’t find your size through the link above, try here or here.

Hi and happy weekend, friends! We start school next week, so we spent the past few days soaking up those last summer break vibes in Calistoga. Lana loved playing for hours in the mineral pool, we indulged in far too many poolside treats (or was it just enough?) and walked to town for sushi and ice cream. We left with Lana begging to come back ASAP – always the sign of a good vacation.
Sale picks I can’t get off my mind this week: this outfit-making tank (available in standard, petite and plus sizing); these (dishwasher safe!) back-to-school water bottles in loads of fun colors; and these Vuori Luxe At Ease Pants, which, with the flat waistband, could almost pass as…dressy?

ONE: If you haven’t already, snap up these Low-Rise Stride Jeans during Gap’s Friends and Family Event (marked down to $47 at checkout). They’re worth collecting in multiple washes. Wear them in your true size if you want them to sit a little higher on your waist with a more fitted bum, or size up one (like me) for a slouchier fit. (tank | sandals)
TWO: These Sorel Ella II Sandals almost never go on sale, but they’re 25% off at Zappos right now ($67, which feels like a great price to pay for literally the only tan sandal you’ll ever want to wear). The sole is super soft and flexible while offering more traction and support than most slim sandals, and the elastic straps never rub. They’re the only shoes I packed for our four days in Calistoga — with zero regrets. True to size. (romper here)

Here’s a hot tip (and I do mean “hot”). Don’t plan a beach trip in August. The temp here right now is 114 degrees and the temperature of the sand is, wait for it: 130 degrees!! I mean, dang! I haven’t even been able to set foot on the beach, even at night because the sand is still close to 100 degrees. Now understand why flights were so cheap! My bad.
As for sales, I am still obsessed with Banana Republic Factory over here. It’s literally the first place I stop to look these days when I start my online browsing. The prices, the quality, the styles are just right up my alley at the moment. Right now everything is 50% off plus an extra 15% off at checkout. So much good stuff to browse through, I’m telling you.

ONE: I can’t believe this tank is still in stock at Anthropologie. But I seriously love it. A reader asked if it gets picked up easily by the wind and although it does look like that it might, the added fabric at the hem helps to keep it from doing that. It also comes in a gorgeous orange color, too.
TWO: I love the look (and price) of this denim utility jacket for fall. I have been searching for an updated denim jacket because I’m getting a little bored of my Levi’s jacket. And I’ve finally found it! It’s on sale for $60 plus an extra 15% at check out. I love the shade of denim too!

Where did this week disappear to exactly?? I’m not sure, but I’m ending it as a first-time entrepreneur (!!!). Wish me luck! I’ve been really enjoying the chill in the morning air and in the evening when I walk my dogs, which makes me plot and scheme about just how long I should wait before I get out my pumpkin decorations.
Plus, I love fall fashion. But before summer ends, there are some fantastic sales to take advantage of, and, frankly, I’ll probably need summer pieces for another two months here. I’m stoked that Abercrombie is doing 25% off its denim this weekend — I love the Curve line. I’m also going to take advantage of GAP’s 40% off sale. I’m looking at this gorgeous dusty olive trench and this classic striped sweater.

ONE: My magic work pants are on sale! Run, don’t walk — these pants are popular and tend to go fast on sale. These trousers come in a Curve cut and also in a regular trouser cut. FYI the matching blazer (not pictured above) is also on sale.
TWO: 40% off this cute denim midi skirt at GAP that is definitely a great alternative to the sold out rag & bone Sukato denim skirt that was part of the NSale. If you were hoping to get your hands on that one, this one is great. Just enough stretch to the denim and fits TTS.
