Hey, hey, Friday! Whew. This gal is READY for longer days. My friends in the northern part of our country know what I mean. SHEESH. Bring on the coffee and fun sale picks, please.
First up though, I got to do a fun little segment on local Portland channel KGW yesterday, on their morning show “Hello Rose City.” If you’d like to peek at it, you can watch it here. It was a blast! I might mention graphic tees…
Otherwise, I’ve been styling up a bunch of stuff this week (stay tuned for some posts!), having more kitchen dance parties and still kinda avoiding cooking. Gah, I want my cooking mojo back, please! I’m hoping to go see Deb Perelman of Smitten Kitchen when she’s here at Powell’s soon, so maybe that will help!

ONE: OK, one is a restock, but they’re jeans under $80, so I feel OK sharing it in the sales area! They’re SO soft and comfy and stretchy. The wash is just a tiny bit different than mine, but the same cut and brand. I went down a size due to the stretch. I love them with heels or high-tops. blazer | heels
TWO: TALL FRIENDS, go get these Athleta Cosmic pants! They’re on major sale and still stocked in most tall sizes. I’m 5’4” and wearing the petite length. They’re in my top five favorite pants ever. They typically come back in stock later too! Everyone else, grab the Rainier Bootcut pants (on sale in a fun blue/purple) and thank me later. I’ve been living in them all December/January. TTS. I wear a M regular in those.
THREE: This adorable cap-sleeve Madewell tee is on sale in black and a periwinkle color, in straight and plus sizes. I’m definitely grabbing it in black. TTS. Wearing a S.

So, um…this week wasn’t…great. Both kids and I got a lovely stomach bug that I’m still not over a week later. I have cleaned up puke all week, changed sheets, held back hair, snuggled the kids, slept as much as possible, and am looking forward to eating normal food again soon.
Local MARQUETTE people, I have to give a HUGE shoutout to Freshcoast Wellness — I went in for IV hydration therapy Wednesday morning and was absolutely “cured” for the rest of the day. I felt amazing and was able to run errands and get work done. Unfortunately I didn’t keep up my liquid intake and felt awful again the next day, BUT…it was SO nice to feel good again, even temporarily. I highly recommend checking them out!! (They also offer vitamin shots that I’ll be checking out in the future!)

ONE: I’m currently trying on a ton of sweater dresses for an upcoming post, but I wanted to share these two that are currently on sale! This Treasure & Bond sweater dress (also in a pretty rust color) is up to 40% off, and it’s a super-easy, versatile layering piece. (And these booties aren’t on sale, but they’re some of my favorites, come in a TON of colors, and have a higher shaft that’s perfect for cropped jeans/dresses.)
TWO: I’m so bummed I missed out on this feather-cuff sweater dress in the gorgeous green color, but the camel is over 40% off, and I LOVE the feather detail on the sleeves! Wearing it here with the same booties (love).

Hello, hello, Friday! It’s hard to believe that we’re already halfway through January, and let me tell you all the start to the year has been quite exhilarating for me and my family! I can’t share too much, but let’s just say lifelong dreams that my brother and I have been working toward our entire life are finally coming to fruition. I feel so incredibly grateful that the dreams we set as kiddos are now coming full circle.
And the best part is that we’re all together in Nashville and experiencing these changes and dreams as a family. My heart is full and happy, and I’m confident that 2023 is going to be my best year yet.
P.S. The latest episode of “Big Girls Gone Wild” is now out wherever you get your podcasts! Sending you all the happiest and brightest vibes this weekend. XX – Kat

ONE: It’s no secret that I’m a hoodie girlie, and if I had to give one phrase for my current style obsession it would be “tomboyish.” I love all the elevated tomboy vibes right now, and I can’t stop, won’t stop wearing this hoodie with everything in my closet.
TWO: If you’re looking for a warm + cozy hug, then this long hooded fleece is for you! I was stoked when I saw that it’s now half of it’s original price of $160.

Does anyone else love Valentine’s Day? My husband and I don’t exchange gifts, nor have we even gone out for it since having a baby, haha. BUT I love the candy, I love rom-coms (OMG, who has seen the preview for the Reese Witherspoon + Ashton Kutcher movie?! Cannot waaaaait), and I’m allll about the colors red + pink. I’m already thinking ahead to it because I’m spotting a ton of reds + pinks in the sale sections, which seems serendipitous…uhm, or just really smart marketing. (& also because my hubs brought home Valentine’s Day candy last night, YES.)
These new UGGs currently on sale would make for a sweet little Valentine’s gift to a daughter or even yourself (I have them in neutral, TTS, so unique + cute). OR go sequin. Actually, just go ahead and peruse this entire section of all cozy pink + red items on sale. It’s so good (and has wayyyy better stock than Nordstrom has, FYI). If I WERE going on a Valentine’s Day date this year, though? I’d jump out of my typical wheelhouse with this (stunning and 60% off).

ONE: Saks is having an “up to 20% off” event, and the section is really impressive to me (but only through Friday!). Includes a lot of new retail, as well as trusty ole faves like the Varley Vine half-zip (the view of the collar from the back is amazing, see it on me here). Good news, if you miss the Saks event, you can also score the sweater on sale here in the most gorg color.
TWO: Free People really threw all its puffer jackets + cashmere sweaters into the sale section and said, “Plus, take an additional 25% off for a limited time” — OKAY. Worth a peruse, but I’m loving this jacket and this sweater.

And we’re back from Colombia. I got my period the minute I got here, so I’ve been unpacking, putting holiday decor away, and going back to usual life slowly — I no longer push myself to the limit during those days. On the other hand, Ron and I are celebrating our 13th wedding anniversary this weekend, and it feels surreal. We still don’t know what we’re doing as partners and parents, but we have to give some credit to couples therapy. It’s helped us a lot.

ONE: Joe’s The Georgia Coated Bootcut Jeans (27) – I’ll probably wear them with heels and a pretty top, but for now I love how the coated finish looks with a sweatshirt and sneakers. They have a nice structure on the inside that holds your belly in without sacrificing comfort.
TWO: ASTR the Label Gaia Dress – This dress feels and looks more expensive than it is. I wore it to a wedding but also while on vacation with a small straw bag. You can find it in different colors and a lot of them are on sale.

Hey, gang! Happy Friday! It seems we have officially reached our saturation point here in Northern California. On Tuesday evening, Chris got home from his commute and said, “I noticed a serious a new dip in the highway coming down the hill today, watch it be a sinkhole…” Chuckle, chuckle. Then, yesterday morning: This.
ARE YOU FREAKING KIDDING ME?
Super-grateful to CalTrans for having the forethought to close the highway and inspect the “dip” just hours before the collapse. This is the main thoroughfare in and out of Half Moon Bay, so I can’t even imagine the tragedy that could have ensued if cars had been on the road at the time. In the meantime, the highway is closed in both directions…indefinitely. There are still (far lengthier) ways in and out of town, but suffice it to say, I’m not in a hurry to go over the hill any time soon. Plus, there’s more rain in the forecast, if that’s possible…
One of my best friends is coming into town to spend the next week with us, and I’m so looking forward to a little girl time (maybe even some of it sans kiddos!). But given the weather and road conditions, I’ll just be happy lounging around, cooking and catching up with my bestie. Hope you have a chill and cozy long weekend as well, friends! Xo, Em

ONE: These Belted Paper Bag Chambray Wide-Leg Pants from Saks might not necessarily be winter apparel where you are, but grab them now for spring and thank me later. On sale for $64, down from $215. I mean…what. They’re buttery soft, so chic and comfortable to the max. I’m wearing my true size, but the elasticized waist definitely requires cinching the belt to size up, so maybe size down one, especially if you tend to be between sizes. (My cardigan is also on sale – for under $20! Sizes are going fast so get on over there.)
TWO: Naadam is having another epic sale (60% off!), and my top pick is this recycled-cashmere rugby polo. Talk about timeless. My lush green quarter-zip sweater (my Christmas gift to myself!) is also included in sizes XXS to 3X, and it’s available in oatmeal too. Since it’s final sale, a sizing note: I’m between an XS and S and always go with a S in Naadam.

January and February are my least favorite months of the year, especially since moving to Grand Rapids, Michigan. Last month I read that we had 15 minutes of sunshine the whole month! FIFTEEN. MINUTES. (No joke). Honestly, I don’t know how much longer I can do this. As much as I love Michigan in the summer (it’s perfection), these months are hard on me, and I rely on my Light Therapy LED Lamp every day to help me keep my mood up. I just upgraded to this one, and I’m loving it.
In other sale related news, there are currently SO MANY good Sorels on sale right now at Zappos. I’m trying to narrow it down to either these or these. Or both?? Also, if you’re looking for a really good full-length mirror, my 71-by-32-inch framed arch mirror from Amazon is amazing. My new dog freaked out the first time we left him alone, went on a holy terror, knocking my mirror over face first, and it didn’t crack!! I’m still in awe.

ONE: I just bought these MOTHER jeans, fell SO hard for how flattering they look, and woke up today to find them over 60% off! That means they are less than $100 right now! I don’t know the last time I saw a pair of MOTHER jeans for that cheap. They run small, so order up.
TWO: I also purchased these SLVRLAKE jeans that just went on sale for 20% off. They’re the wide-leg jeans style I’m most excited about at the moment. I need to return them for a bigger size because they also run small, but I LOVE the style, length and double-yoke high waist. Order at least one size up.
