If you’re not quite ready to layer up, Scotti loves this slouchy Free People tunic. The fabric is mostly cotton so it can be worn year round, but it’s thick enough to keep you warm in colder weather.

Hey, hey Friday! We’re heading down to the California Central coast this weekend and I couldn’t be more excited. I’ve never spent any time there and have gotten some amazing recs from a couple of Portland friends, along with our own Em who lives not too far away. We’re going to eat food, hike, explore, shop, beach walk and sit in an Airbnb and enjoy the view…and eat more food. I booked my first Airbnb Experience and it’s a little food tour on Saturday. This Under $30 Classic Jacket I Love To Layer: …in straight AND plus sizes! I adore the classic three-stripe Adidas jackets for that sporty sporty vibe AND they’re on sale right now. The Most Useful Travel Item I’ve Gotten Lately: This little brush holder guy is so great for traveling with your makeup brushes. It keeps them contained and safe without smushing them!

After a busy couple of weeks, I’m looking forward to slowing down and relaxing this weekend. We’ve already put up the Halloween decorations, so now we can pop some popcorn and put on some silly cheesy movies to get us in that fall mood. Any recommendations for “scary” (but not really scary) movies to watch with an 8-year old who says she likes scary things but then sometimes is scared to walk down the hallway by herself? 😂(Also…Hocus Pocus 2 comes out today…whaaaaaat?)
In LOVE: I found these boots in store and OMG they’re the best ever. You can’t tell from the photos but they sparkle in the most beautiful way. (They’re also comfortable and stretchy and don’t require socks!)
Jeans for Short Girls Like Me: These FRAME jeans are absolute perfection. It’s hard to find such a cool hemline at 5’4” but these are amazing. (And the denim is soft and stretchy!)
Anyone Want to Party? I bought this dress because it’s gorgeous, super comfortable, and under $60. If only I had somewhere to wear it….

Happy Friday everyone! It’s hard to believe we are already entering the “spookiest” month of the year! I have to say I feel like 2022 has been flying by, and I don’t quite know how to feel about it. I’ve got a lot of travel upcoming towards the end of the year, and am currently in planning mode for an international trip at the beginning of 2023! My first stop will be to Antigua for one of my best college friends, my sorority little who is getting married this November, and then I will again be spending much of December in Nashville. The Only Jeans I Want To Try – TBH I am so unimpressed with plus size denim right now. Everything seems quite bland, and the plus size offerings have not caught up with what I am seeing from straight sized brands. I did however find this pair from Old Navy and am curious how they will fit. Oh, and their entire site is 40% off for card holder members.

This weekend my husband, toddler, two cats and myself officially hit the road, embarking on our new adventure! We’ve actually made the cross-country move more than once, but it’s the first with our kid (and cats) and that makes it extra exciting. We have a special event this weekend, and I can not WAIT to get all dressed up. Shana and I were talking that we should probably just start making up events to dress up for. Sequins for Friday after school playground hang time? I love wearing my joggers on repeat, but getting all dressed up — especially as a family, to celebrate something special– does feel really nice. Happy Friday, friends! We’ve got a chill weekend on the books over here – quite possibly my favorite kind, if I’m being honest (though I’m already having a little FOMO over Laura’s trip to my old Central Coast stomping grounds!). For us, it’ll be lotsa walks to the coast, maybe a meal out with the girls. Hopefully a workout or two.
I’ve made an effort to get back on the mat these past couple of weeks (I use Lindywell, formerly The Balanced Life, for guided pilates workouts), and it’s been feeling so, so good. I probably sound like a talking head for the program, but I really do find myself most capable of sticking with an active pursuit when it’s realistic for my schedule, and 15-30 mins a day of actually enjoyable time on the mat, while not the most hardcore, is what’s relatively doable for me right now. They’re kicking off a 14-day reset on Monday so it would be a great time to join, if you’ve been looking for something new.

Best Sale This Weekend? J.Crew. BUT WAIT. If I’m being honest, there’s not a lot that’s exciting me there at the moment, but they have 50% lots of fall favorites including some good-ass shoes! Very into the idea of these metallic fisherman sandals, and if I worked not from home, these mules would be a wardrobe staple. They’re classic and chic but still could be funk’d up a bit.
Extra 60% Off Sale Shoes At Nordstrom Rack. I repeat: EXTRA 60% off. Definitely a sort-by-size situation so you don’t get overly excited about something that’s only got one size left, but some excellent scores to be found. These Aquatalia snakeskin sandals are just $58 (usually $395!); these statement wedges are too fun (berries or daisies?!); and these wear-with-everything heeled sandals are worth having for $10.
But What Is This Vuori Lovechild Legging Situation!? These Vibe Elevation Leggings are currently in Vuori’s sale section for almost 40% off – and somehow I’ve never seen them before? They look like two of my faves, the Daily Legging (comfy high waist, drawstring) and the Clean Elevation Legging (buttery ultra-suede feel and SUPER flattering fit), had a really not-ugly baby, and I am smitten. (Matching bras are also on sale.)
Jess’ Sale Picks
Well, it’s been a week, for sure. And not a good one, to be honest. We had to put down our 15 year old mini-dachshund, Henri, after he developed fast-moving diabetes and chronic bronchitis. Both Jon and I were not emotionally prepared for how hard it would be to lose our best friend but we tried our hardest to live our best life this week in honor of our always happy bff. Also, my parents live in Osprey, FL, dead center in the path of hurricane Ian and they refused to leave their condo. *le sigh* Thankfully, they were completely fine but are still waiting for their power and water to be turned back on. As for sales, I didn’t have to look much farther than Anthro this week where so many of the items in my cart had their prices reduced up to 40%!

Mirror, Mirror, On the Wall: Just bought this floor length mirror from Amazon, and we LOVE IT! (It’s 72” x 31”). Although the first one came cracked, we love the uncracked version so much! It’s high quality and gorgeous in our front room.
