Laura’s Top Sale Picks

Hey, Friday! Whew. First slumber party for my 9-year-old gal went well. They’re eating potato chips and mini M&M’s for breakfast and actually went to sleep at 11 p.m., so I call that a win. This age is so adorable and confusing. They still want to be kiddos but also so badly want to be teens. I love them. Checked that off our list for a while, tho, haha. They are loud.

Stuff I’m into right now? Vuori Daily Leggings are in stock at Nordstrom (sweet!). They’re so buttery soft but also hold you in. TTS. And I can’t get over these adorable $70 day-of-the-week sweaters there.

And lastly, THIS SET (bra and undies) I just got in and haven’t tried on yet — but, gosh, how gorgeous right? I’m not into lingerie really, but I couldn’t resist these! They’re selling fast, but there’s a pretty good size selection left as I write this. OOH, j/k, one more item: My favorite AllSaints denim shacket/shirtdress is all sold out, but Target of all places has a great alternative. It’s not quite as oversized, but the style is fab and for $36 worth a try!

One more thing. I’m in search of a lighter-weight (not flannel), long knit shacket, like this one from Anthro. This one didn’t fit me right and wasn’t quite the right color on me, but otherwise it’s amazing and would be such the perfect layering piece when I don’t need a coat. I stupidly gave away my older Abercrombie shawl collar cardigan years ago and could kick myself. It worked as a camel coat but for warmer days. Lmk, please, if you see something!

ONE: These plaid trousers from Madewell are my new favorites! They’re going quickly but are on sale for $64 now! TTS, but don’t size up if between. Button-front but elastic in the back, making them fit so much better for my bod (I typically have trouble with pleated trousers). Wearing a 6. They do also come in solid colors. blouse | sneakers

TWO: You may have seen my styling post about Free People’s green track pants this week…welp, they’re on sale for under $100 now! I love love these as a sporty, fun new closet piece. They have a super-soft, thin inner lining making them a joy to wear too. TTS. Wearing a M. coat | similar Bag

Like Laura, we hosted my girl Greenlea’s first sleepover this past weekend. Instead of having the girls in my small house, I rented a hotel room in town, so they could enjoy the pool and hot tub, and have all the breakfast food they wanted. Money well spent!

Ozzie’s ski lessons, however? Not money well spent. This weekend he told me he didn’t need ski lessons because he already knew how to ski. (He doesn’t.) He hid from his instructors, refused to put his skis on (I had to bribe him to even get his boots on), and went limp any time I tried to get him closer to his class. He laid down on the floor of the ski lodge, half inside/half outside the door, again outside in the snow…it was greeeeat. At least G is enjoying her lessons. We’ll see how this weekend goes.

As far as sales, apparently I’m obsessed with shoes right now… I just ordered these lug-sole loafers that remind me of the Gucci loafers but for hundreds less (they’re over 30% off). I also ordered these P448 sneakers because they’re 50% off (and the reviews are so good), and these sexy sandals because they’re 60% off (and also have really good reviews). I’ll report back! Happy weekend, everyone!

ONE: One of my favorite purchases of this past fall, these ’70s flares from Gap are 40% off PLUS an extra 10% (use codes TREAT and ADDIT)…along with the vintage-slim style that I just saw is now available in GOLD — AND on sale. OMG (Adds to cart.)

TWO: This faux-leather jacket is the perfect sub for a cardigan in winter. Sometimes you just want a little more structure, and I LOVE the fit and asymmetrical detail! (I also love the cream and burgundy colors.) Size up if in between sizes.

Hi, friends! My parents have been in town this past week, and I’ve been having the best time with them. We’ve soaked up nightly sunsets; lots of beach walks; spotted dolphins and whales and sea lions + countless ocean creatures; spent a day at the zoo; and have eaten all the good food. It’s been really fun to “vacay” with them in my new home city.

All that, plus the weather even touched in the 70s — glorious. I’ll have to come back down to earth next week when they’re gone and the temps go back to winter 50s, but for now…we’re sunshine, baby.

I noticed Nordstrom threw a ton of Free People sweaters into its sale section, including the one we all post about quite regularly and this turtleneck that looks extra-cozy. But what’s even better is that Free People itself just included one of my fave cashmere sweaters in its own sale section — in So. Many. Color options!!! FP cashmere is lightweight and really easy to wear, plus they’re often in a cropped silhouette that’s just so perfect with all high-rise pants. I highly recommend snapping it up!

ONE: Gap’s current promotions include a lot of my new fave staples, including the slouchy split hem cardigan. While you’re there, peruse the denim. The jeans are genuinely so exciting right now, with high-, mid- and low-rise options, plus a lot of jeans in on-trend gray washes I cannot stop thinking about.

TWO: Sorel boots are on saaaale, and in multiple places. These fantastic Joan Cozy boots, which I would rack up in multiple colors if I still lived in a cold climate, are now under $100. Just take a stroll through all of these boots on sale (I’m shocked! It’s January?!), or if preferred, Nordstrom has a handful of Sorels it just threw into its sale section as well (but, as usual, stock is a lot more limited over there).

Hey, friends. What a weirdly sad and jarring week around here. If you’ve seen the news at all (and kudos if you haven’t — a little news avoidance is feeling really healthy these days), our small town of Half Moon Bay was the scene of a mass shooting on Monday. The girls and I were at the library when we heard news of the shooting, and since the gunman was still at large, we hunkered down with friends who also happened to be there, and distracted the kiddos with books while we anxiously listened to the scream of sirens and helicopters overhead.

Finally, we were notified that local schools were released from lockdown, which we figured was the all-clear to book it home as soon as possible. Turns out the shooter was apprehended while we were at the library, just a couple blocks away. Oof. I shared some of this on IG, but if you’re able to contribute to the families affected by this tragedy, please consider donating to our local organizations ALAS or Coastside Hope (choose Farmworkers Fund). Thank you so much, friends.

Shopping hasn’t been front of mind much this week, but putting together today’s sales report has honestly been such a welcome distraction. Gap renewed its sale, so the barrel jeans I happen to be wearing as we speak are $43 right now with codes TREAT and ADDIT (true to size). Abercrombie’s got a spring-ready button-up dress in the sunniest, retro floral for $39, and Naadam’s 60% off sale is still going strong.

And as an honorable mention, these classic high-top Converse sneaks aren’t on sale, but Nordstrom does have them fully stocked in both black and white, which hasn’t been the case in quite a while. At $65 a pop, I’m considering grabbing a fresh pair of each while I can.

Cheers to a restorative, peaceful weekend, pals. xo, Em

ONE: Speaking of Naadam’s sale, I couldn’t be more in love with this cashmere quarter-zip sweater, now 50% off. It’s “luxe” weight, so definitely lofty and warm while still being layerable, if needed. I’ve gotten so many compliments on the rich green color, but the oatmeal version is on sale too. Wearing a S.

TWO: One of my favorite pieces of the past few months, this flirty baseball tee with subtle puff-sleeve details is such an easy way to elevate jeans and a tee. I’ve been reaching for it as soon as it’s clean – so much so that I’m also considering getting the nutmeg color. Wearing an XS.

Yay, we made it to the weekend! And, man, am I excited because I actually have fun plans for once. It’s one of my best friend’s birthdays, and we are celebrating it RIGHT. Starting with mani-pedis, then on to our hotel room in downtown Grand Rapids, a comedy show at the B.O.B., and then finishing it off with a ’90s Dance Party at the Marriott after (if we can handle it).

I’ll be wearing this fitted denim mini dress from Madewell. I figure it covers all my bases, it’s cute, comfortable and a *little* bit ’90s style. Denim dresses were a thing in the ’90s right? Or was it the ’80s? The years are all kinda blending together at this point.

As for sales, two of my favorite MOTHER wide-leg jeans from my latest post are on sale!

ONE: I absolutely love how these MOTHER The Maven Heel jeans look on! And they are currently almost $80 off.

TWO: MOTHER High-Waist Spinner Skimp wide-leg jeans are the perfect pair of vintage-inspired denim.

Same as Shana, I also love to get a really nice statement coat during the January and February sales. That long brown coat in my latest posts? I got it last year around this exact time. Funny enough, I fell in love with one that’s not on sale this year. Why, Julieta, why? Luckily there’s a 15% code for first orders. Yay!

ONE: Noize Coco Puffer – I’ve been waiting for this jacket to go on sale at Nordstrom, but nothing — it’s also almost gone there. Luckily it’s on sale on the brand’s site. It’s incredibly warm and comes in other gorgeous colors (check the wisteria colors), and also a hooded version in green and blue. WOW! P.S. I can’t believe I haven’t photographed this jacket professionally. It’s my favorite puffer.

TWO: Tory Burch Ladybug Sneakers – I’ve been eyeing these sneakers for a while now, and think they would be perfect for spring and summer. Reviews claim they’re VERY comfortable, so…hmm.
