Happy Friday! We’re finally seeing the temps here dip below 90 in the coming days. Anyone else struggling with what to wear now that the fall transition is just on the horizon?

If there’s one piece to effortlessly take you from sunny afternoons to cooler evenings, it’s a black tank dress to throw on and go (on sale for $30 at Gap!). Just add sneakers to dress them down (Scotti’s eyeing up these Nikes, under $100) or strappy sandals and some fun jewelry for a night out. And when it gets chilly, having a light jacket or shirt to throw on top of those LBDs is essential.

Other wardrobe favorites to wear on repeat this season? This team-fave J.Crew sweater-blazer (under $100), a pair of relaxed wide-leg jeans (loving the details and wash on this elevated pair), and these super-soft leggings for every day.

Hey, hey, Friday! Portlandia update…my neighbors accidentally got a rooster when they got new chicks, and now the crowing teenage chicken makes me feel like I’m back in the country where I grew up. Ah, city life. LOL. Anyone else get to the “Frost and Starlight” book in ACOTAR series and, even though it’s the shortest book by far, just cannot get through it? Idk what it is, but I need to know if the rest of the books are worth it. I blew through the first three giant novels!

As for great stuff on sale right now…I’m into this sweatshirt that is the perfect cut, this beautiful camel coat for later, and this cute, soft-looking puff-sleeve top from Gap in the deep green.

Sandals (TTS) | Jeans (29)

ONE: These really cute, puffy crisscross slide sandals are on sale for $44. I LOVE them, and they’re great as transitional shoes right now with my comfy Frank & Eileen pieces! TTS.

TWO: I just photographed this outfit recently and was trying it on for shoe selection, haha, hence the two-shoes. I LOVE these Gap Faux-Leather Baby Bootcut jeans so much, y’all. They fit great and are so comfy. AND they’re mid-rise. I know! TTS. Wearing a 29.

This past week was crazy busy with the start of school, and my house is a total disaster — I’ll be spending the weekend picking up and cleaning in order to stay sane. So far, both kids are loving school (fingers crossed that continues), and Greenlea has been a great big sister to Ozzie: walking him out with her arm protectively around him, waving to him in the hallways… She even taught him the dance for her “Annie” auditions so he could try out with her (after deciding last minute he wanted to be in the show)! I peeked in the window when all the kids were dancing during auditions and about died from cuteness overload. Greenlea was called back for the roles of Annie and Molly…and I’m pretty sure this whole process is more stressful for the moms than the kids. I’ll keep you guys posted. 😜

Top picks for sales this week? These jeans | this cozy, oversized Vince sweater | and these Nike Air Force 1s that are going to sell out!

Sweater-Blazer (XXS) | Jeans (28), Jacket

ONE: Our favorite sweater-blazer from J.Crew is 50% off right now! Normally $158, it’s currently on sale for $79 in a number of colors. I sized down to an XXS here for a more fitted look, but the models show a more oversized look in the pics. (The faux leather pants I’m wearing aren’t on sale, but they’ve added colors for fall–I LOVE the navy!)

TWO: I’m OBSESSED with these wide-leg Veronica Beard jeans…on sale for over $100 off right now! They’re 100% nonstretch cotton, but they’re super-soft and lightweight. (And the raw hem makes them easy to cut.)

Happy weekend, everyone! Decided to pop in to this week’s Sales Report because I’m in full shopping/problem-solving mode, searching for what the heck I’m going to actually be wearing this fall. I’m on the wide-leg-jeans train for sure (loving the trouser look of these and the baggy vibe of these), but I’m still playing with proportions and how exactly my 5’2″ self will be pulling off this style. Stay tuned. For now…oldies but goodies on sale below and some fun new picks as well!

Sweater Blazer (XS) | Clogs

ONE: A classic sweater-blazer from J.Crew that keeps coming back year after year for a reason.

TWO: I adore these comfy Kork-Ease clogs for fall — and have talked about them on TME many times. SUPER-comfy (cushioned cork footbed) and the stud detailing makes them far from ordinary. They come in black too. Or…my fancy Veronica Beards are also on sale in all colors!

A few weeks back, somewhere in the end of August, I pulled all my brightly colored, fun summer pieces out and stacked them in front of my closet so I could wear them before I knew what would inevitably happen — a deep shift into craving neutrals for autumn. Welllll, I got about two colorful outfits in before I became “so over it.” I’m officially needing a more soothing palette. I’m still rocking shorts and tanks and will be for awhile, but the simple switch from bright tones to muted shades is an easy way to create space for the new season in my mind, even in a warm climate. I mean that, and a heavy dose of pumpkin spice in my daily beverages.

Fave sale finds of the weekend: shoes for warm-weather-fall | sporty-yet-chic leggings | a relaxed-fit sweater for now + later

Sweater (M) | Sweatshirt (M)

ONE: I’m officially a J.Crew girly, and this sweater is one of my new favorites. It’s lightweight enough that I’ll be able to pull it out to wear sooner than later here in San Diego (I can even throw it on for a morning layer), and the deep-cut blazer neckline makes this one fun to style up in different ways. I’m also GIDDY about this red as we near the holiday season — the one bright color I still gladly collect throughout fall (but there are more color options on sale too)!! Runs oversized, a medium is perfect for me.

TWO: I found my favorite late-summer purchase on sale! Which is shocking since it’s a newer release AND it’s been selling out everywhere. Wears like a sweatshirt more than a sweater — it’s stretchy and super-oversized (size down — two sizes, even — if you don’t like things big). I love wearing it both with the collar laid out and with the zipper all the way up. Bonus, it’s easily tuckable.

This weekend marks the kickoff for pumpkin patches here in Half Moon Bay (if you’re unfamiliar, pumpkins are kind of a big deal around here), and I’ve got a seriously deep craving for loading up our porch with an absurdity of gourds in the most blissfully basic way. Chris even gets pretty into it. He may or may not have removed his belt once so he could use it to carry home The Perfect Cinderella Pumpkin — just strapped it up and slung it over his shoulder. And they said the ideal man is a myth.

Sale finds I’m particularly passionate about this week: this gorgeously patterned indigo poncho | this cropped halter tank, worth stocking up on (especially for $10) | and this long teddy coat, which I’d put over black wide-leg sweats and some cool running sneaks for drop-off.

The key to Frye boots is getting the fit right, so size up a half size.

Boots, Jeans

A couple of times a year, my favorite Frye boots of all time go on sale, and this is one of them. I’ve had these for almost six years, and they’re as timeless as can be. The key is getting the fit right: In my true size, they seemed all sorts of ridiculous (the vamp was so tight, I couldn’t even get them on). BUT in a half size up, the sizing was spot on, and they broke in to become some of the most comfortable shoes I own in just a few wears. Worth every penny. (My exact 501s are on sale too! True to size. Try hunting the jacket here.)

I’m back from Colombia, and I’m struggling a bit to go back to regular life here. But the good thing is that my calendar for color consults in September and early October is open. Are you needing support transitioning to a cooler-weather wardrobe and feeling more confident with what you wear daily? Find more info here. There are two spots left in September.

I’m not ready to go back to jeans more often, but these and these are calling my name.

Top (XS), Pants (S), Shoes | Pants

ONE: Rails Textured Satin Button-Up (XS) – 50% off and I can’t believe it. This shirt fits perfectly, gives you an amazing quality, and you can dress it up or down easily. Size down if you’re petite. And if you want to create a monochromatic dressy outfit, the booties I’m wearing are also on sale and are walkable.

TWO: Joe’s Trouser Jeans (size up) – I can’t wait to get these in the mail. I have the blue wash, and they’re super-flattering (great bum). This brown option is perfect for fall.

We are Georgia-bound tomorrow, and I’m so looking forward to being deep in the mountains in Sky Valley, hopefully hiking until my legs fall off. We had to postpone until this week, which is okay with me since the weather will be nice and cool once we arrive.

Sorel Brex Boots (TTS) | Quince Tie-Wrap Dress

ONE: I’ve had these Sorel Brex boots for a few years now and can firmly attest to their worthiness! They look almost brand new, and they’ve survived two Michigan winters! I just pulled them out of my closet to wear all over again this fall and winter. The jumpsuit I’m wearing is from the new fall line at Target and is under $50!

TWO: This gorgeous Quince side-tie dress is so incredibly versatile and comes in five gorgeous colors. It’s also 49% off for under $50! It’s definitely a wardrobe essential piece that can be worn over and over throughout all four seasons!

Guys, I’m off to Copenhagen this weekend. I haven’t traveled internationally since the pandemic hit, and I couldn’t be more excited. I’m stoked to see what’s up with Scandinavian streetwear and visit Ganni HQ as well as the Danish Design Museum. After Copenhagen, I’m off to Paris. I can’t wait to share what I packed and wore with you. A couple of items I’m taking that are also on sale are the A&F Curve Love Sloane trousers and a cream-colored sleeveless sweater. Plus, I’m making this Everlane weekender bag my carry-on.

Blazer (10) | Skirt (32)

ONE: This beautifully soft gray-blue blazer by AllSaints is on sale at Nordstrom, along with the lace bodysuit that I’m wearing underneath. The same blazer is also on sale in a beautiful lavender color.

TWO: This denim midi skirt from Gap is stretchy, comfortable and formfitting. I’m shocked I’ve hopped on the denim-skirt trend, but now that I have, I don’t know why I didn’t do it sooner.
