Hey, hey, Friday! Second snow day here for Portland folx, and it’s a beautiful winter wonderland outside. We got a record amount here, up to 10 inches in some places! All I know is, two snow days is perfect, but now please bring back the almost-50-degree and rainy weather that I know and love. IT’S COLD.
Plus, I’m missing therapy, a nail appointment and probably book club tonight, and this social butterfly is not OK with all that, haha. We did walk to our local pub the first night while it was still snowing and hung out with neighbors, and that was the literal BEST.
Need something funny? A bot wrote an obituary, and I cannot stop reading it and dying laughing. “She had no horses but thought she did” LOL. And the last line. The last line!

ONE: This Abercrombie sweat set (sweatshirt here, sweatpants here) is SO incredibly soft and now on sale! Wearing a M in both pieces. I don’t know how Abercrombie get its fleece this soft, but it might involve some magical spell. I like that the fabric is not too heavy but still cozy and warm. Comes in other colors, as well.
TWO: My rag & bone Slade blazer I’ve talked a bazillion times about is 20% off! This piece rarely goes on sale, and I can’t say enough good things about this gorgeous jacket I drooled over for years before buying. It’s stretchy-soft Japanese wool and unlined, so it’s the comfiest layering piece I’ve ever worn. Right now you can layer it under a coat, and later it’s the perfect jacket for throwing on over tees. Happy weekend, everyone! We had a snow day yesterday, and G and I enjoyed spending some time relaxing together while Ozzie spent the day with his dad and grandparents. They’re at the age where they’re fighting about everything, so it was nice to separate them for a while. G is convinced her little brother is The Cause of All Her Problems, and I’m hoping she’ll grow out of that — someday.
Meanwhile, I’m SO excited because I get to go to PHILLY this week!! Ooof, you guys, this winter weather hitting ¾ of our country, including California, is killing me. I’m in desperate need of warm sunshine…so, naturally, I’m neck-deep into planning spring and summer outfits to help my mood. I want soft printed shorts paired with a (silk? linen?) button top. I want skirts, alllll the skirts, but probably an old-school denim skirt (maybe in white?) and a silky calf-length skirt — both to dress down casually (of course). And this might be the first year (ever) that I’ve found jeans shorts I actually really, really like. Finally we’re seeing shorts without massive amounts of distressing. I’m ELATED.
But getting me through these cold, dark days? Possibly the best sunless tanner I’ve ever discovered (the brush is brilliant), Anthro’s in-house candle brand (No.05 Golden Hour is my new go-to, even over the signature Volcano store scent), and finding clogs in gorg colors for spring.
ONE: My metallic pants have been a fun divisive topic on social media — although I was surprised as to how many people were FOR them, because usually these unique choices of mine don’t win the popular vote (wink). Regardless, they’re freaking FUNNN, and you can score a few bucks off right now (wearing my true size).
TWO: My love for cargo jeans is serious, and this pair from FRAME has been on heavy rotation for awhile (even during a Disney trip last fall). The lighter blue is currently marked down at Saks, find a black wash on sale at Nordstrom (swooning over that wash), or find all washes on sale directly at FRAME! Wearing my true size, but they’re just slightly loose on my waist, making them really comfy.

ONE: Levi’s Ribcage Straight-Leg Jeans – These are the softest and lightest Levi’s you’ll find. Make sure to choose one with the “sustainable” tag or that has lyocell/TENCEL in the fabric composition — this is what makes the denim soft and light. It stretches after the first wear, so I like to stay with my true or size down if between sizes. I’m wearing the “light wash indigo” but also own and love the “dark indigo – dark wash” with a 29-inch inseam to achieve the longer length.
TWO: Are you ready for all the color and goddess dresses? I just found a very similar and equally gorgeous version of this dress on sale of course. Some color variations, but the same vibe. There’s also this shorter-sleeved version. GORGEOUS.

This week I’m heading back to my childhood hometown, Lubbock, Texas (Wreck ‘em, Tech!), and I’m beyond excited. I haven’t visited or seen most of my friends from Texas in over 20 years, and I cannot wait to spend time with them. You know the kind of friends you can pick up with right where you left off? Yup, those kinds of friendships. I have such great memories of growing up there, and even though I was a preacher’s daughter, make no mistake, I was a hellion and a tried-and-true tomboy.
I also hope to visit my grandparents’ old home, Ransom Canyon, where I spent a LOT of time. I was especially close with my grandma as a kid (to whom my parents would hand me off when I became too much for them to handle). It will be great to reminisce, since my grandma developed early-onset Alzheimer’s disease, and to this day, I feel a deep sense of regret that I missed out on an adult relationship with my favorite person.
