I spent a few days in Detroit last week since I had some doctor appointments at the University of Michigan. I typically have to go every three to four months for synkinesis treatment, aka Botox. Although there are some benefits to having to keep up with the injections (it does help with some wrinkles, of course), getting over 25 shots in my face, neck and eyelid isn’t suuuper-fun. And although I’ll never look the same as I did before brain surgery, the injections help me look more like me again.
I picked up this cover-up (25% off!) while I was down there, and found these awesome platform sandals (40% off!) that I now want in all three colors. 😍 Happy weekend, everyone!

ONE: MOTHER Rider Skimp jeans are sooo good and on sale rn at Shopbop! I’m not a flares gal, so these slim straight-leg jeans in a great summery wash are my favorite pair of MOTHER denim. Size up for more room in the waist. Wearing a 29. The SOFTEST.
TWO: Vuori is having a fab sale on some of my favorite lounge and low-key workout pieces. The Halo Performance Crop is just $29! It has a built-in bra and is the softest material. Perfect for sleeping when you want some support (ie. visiting the in-laws) or for low impact workouts. The softest joggers (that don’t lose their shape!) are also on sale in some really pretty shades! Wearing a medium in both pieces here.

This past week was my birthday, and while most of my life I’ve done the super-shy-let’s-not-acknowledge-the-day sort of thing, something came over me this year, and I was excited and thankful to have a day to celebrate my life. It was a far more revitalizing mindset to have (haha), and I’m looking forward to what this new chapter will bring.
I know Memorial Day weekend sales are always great, but don’t rule out the few gems springing up early. My favorite jeans for summer are 60% OFF (under $35!!), and have you seen this vintage tee? My sister was rocking one last weekend on our Mother’s Day getaway, and it looked/felt amazing. Turns out she owns multiple colors because she loves and wears them so much, many of which are on sale this weekend (I’m scooping up the green)!

TWO: My favorite linen pants are on a limited time sale — available in six colors (I miiiight have to scoop up a second color). They’re a relaxed style and the most comfy linen pants I own. This week started with my son and an ear infection and ended with me being sick in bed. Great week! Ha. But…we’re flying to Italia in just a few days with my in-laws. It will be my first time in Europe, and while not my type of trip — literally, my dream trip is to go to the Andes or Amazon jungle — there’s a reason for it, and I’m excited. I hope that whatever Italian I learned in two months at the Istituto di Cultura in Bogota decades ago comes back into my brain. But I know my Spanish will come in handy. ONE: Joe’s Mia Jeans – In case I haven’t said it enough times, I can’t get enough of these jeans. They get better and better with time. My exact wash is long gone, but I’ve seen the one I linked in person and it is pretty close, slightly lighter.
TWO: Cami NYC The Daisy Cami – Similar style that I also own and love. The sizing is limited, but finding these camis on sale — and hopefully in your size — is a lottery.

Happy Friday, friends! Last weekend, my mom and I attended a quasi-family-reunion of sorts and met up with other descendants from the Chinese Fishing Village of the Monterey Peninsula, including a couple of direct relatives we’ve never met. I think we both felt a little shy on the drive down, but when we got there, the historical element was so cool, and meeting some long-lost family members, especially alongside my mama, was special too. I’ve always felt an inherent pull to the Point Lobos area, and it’s fun to think it might be ingrained in me on a biological level.
This weekend is far more ordinary, but I’m looking forward to it nonetheless. This was a tough week for me, honestly. Anyone who has struggled with fertility knows how draining and difficult treatments can be. One of the reasons I love fashion is that putting on an outfit that makes you feel beautiful in the midst of difficulty can help lift your spirits. The items that have lifted my spirits this week are the linen dress, cute straw beach hat and easy cover-up featured below. This week, I’m tempted by this white dress that looks like something a goddess would wear on a picnic and this pretty red blouse.

Anne, I cannot say I know exactly what you are going through as each of us has our own journey, I can say I know the roller coaster of feelings (physically and emotionally) that accompany infertility treatments. Sending you lots of care.
I ordered the BCBG cropped jacket after this post. I ordered XS and S. Only the XS arrived today, and I am keeping it. Am 5’3-5’4 and 110-115 lbs but I hate things that are too tight under the arms, so often size up. In this case, XS is perfect. The fabric is mostly linen with some synthetic component. I was expecting more of a classic trench/raincoat fabric, and this is decidedly more linen-ish. Hopefully will not wrinkle too terribly much! Very cute though and I am happy with it (I plan on taking it on 10 day London/Edinburgh trip with my teen daughters in June).
