A Transitional Night-Out Outfit (Rock Your Fav Pieces Into Winter)

Have my Philly people heard of Dance on the Falls Bridge? With friends, we’ve made it a yearly thing and it never disappoints. They completely close off Falls Bridge for the night and well..you dance. I like to compare it to the best kind of wedding reception. You buy a ticket for open bar (get a table if you want – we skipped it) and get your girls and guys and enjoy the night out. The live band is seriously what makes it. It rained this year (boo) but we obvi went anyway.

Rainy + muggy + dancing always makes for a WTF should I wear moment. This is a night we go all out for – sitters, drinks and group dinner beforehand, and we (try to) dress up a little more than we do for date night.

Come in: leather shorts and a silky camisole.

Yup. Problem solved.

  1. This question may have come up before, but what kind of bra do you wear with these strappy camis? I have a loft cami that I haven’t worn yet because I’m at a loss. My particular issue is that I’m a very small cup-size and can’t fill out the structured strapless bras, but the bandeau type stretchy ones are not padded enough. Thanks, I really enjoy the blog!

Personally I would most likely go bra-less or use the sticky nipple covers. If you like bandeaus, you can find ones that have light padded cups for coverage. I have these (although they have straps) + they work with a lot of different tops: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00ZQ7AY08/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o02_s01?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Another option is a lacy bralette (I like all the ones from American Eagle’s underwear line- affordable, comfy, good quality).

      Hope that helps!

      • Thanks for the link, Cristina! Those are a great price, too. I do have some of the lacy bralettes from AE and they’re some of my favorites. It’s just the strapless bra that eludes me.

    • Awesome advice here!! My rule of thumb, if I want to wear a bra, is to mimic the straps. So if the sexy cami is racerback, I find a little lacy bralette pretty enough to show, with racerback straps. I have more than one racerback bralette because sometimes the straps are set wider apart than others. And I find that black is the best choice 99% of the time. The Free People one I linked to is one of my current favorites, but I also like Aerie’s and Madewell (especially this one: http://rstyle.me/n/ctggaab89h7 ). The silk cami I’m wearing in the post is trickier than most because it’s so open in the front, too. I think you could try either going realllly bare (like just a string between the cups), or go the other direction, and find a bra top. I’m thinking this one might be interesting under that cami: http://rstyle.me/n/ctgf8pb89h7

  2. Hey Shana, Great post, but when I click that fabulous fuzzy cardigan I get taken by the link to a different one at Nordstrom (Dreamers by Debut Rib Knit cardigan) that doesn’t look much like it. Please tell me that fuzzy one is still for sale somewhere!

I’ve been on the hunt for a WRAP style sexy cami and it’s it proving to be very hard to find. It doesn’t even need to be a true wrap, faux wrap would be fine. Has anyone seen this?
