I have been on the hunt for a seriously cute woven bag for summer.
I’m not much of a bag person, or at least, I haven’t been in the past. I’m someone who’s good with grabbing my mini card holder and keys while throwing sunnies on my head and calling it good. Yet, lately, I’ve been having a hard time finding reasons why a woven bag wouldn’t be the perfect accessory for all of my summer looks (especially now that I live near the ocean and have finally embraced my love of warm weather outfits).
One quick look around the internet and the options are amazing.
OH MY, the options.
12 Gorgeous Woven Handbags Giving All The Summer Vibes
J.Crew alone has an entire handbag collection that left me drooling a bit into my coffee cup. Even Target has a few stunners that are great budget-friendly choices, and don’t even get me started on Anthropologie’s bag selection — their woven purses and totes are what summer dreams are made of.
In an effort to nail down my choice, I rounded up what I considered to be the best of the woven bags on the market. All of them have detailing that could turn heads, and any of these 12 bags would be an undeniably good choice to finish off an outfit, whether for the city, the beach, or all the way to your European summer vacation.
What I love most about this open-weave bag from J.Crew is its larger schoolbook-like shape. It’s the type of bag that you could pair with a 100% cotton poplin dress and head to dinner, while also filling it with sunscreen and a juicy summer book for the beach.
J.Crew’s Open-Weave Tote Bag is also available in a chic navy and even an orchid pink that is wildly fun.
This macramé tote is the bag that began my journey down this woven bag rabbit hole. AllSaints has a way of making bags look incredibly cool. Whether through their puffy leather, bold color options, or tassels hanging from the side, there’s always an unexpected element that makes the bag very unique. The Sabine Fringe Macrame Tote is probably the most rockstar of this entire lineup, and you can even snap it up in black.
This is the do-it-all tote bag. You could throw sunscreen for the entire family, sand toys, portable speakers, and even a few snacks in this large Tropical Touch Tote from Free People. It would also make for very Instagrammable shots if you take it along for your weekend getaways or travels this summer.
The half moon shape of the Handwoven Caitlyn Tote from Sea & Grass is simply stunning. The bag is structured yet still casual enough for everyday wear, and with the handwoven repurposed seagrass it truly is the perfect bag for a coastal-inspired summer.
BTB Los Angeles made the everyday carry-all ready for summer with woven rattan material and a luxe clasp. This isn’t a bag I would take to the beach, but it does give the allure of “I’m headed to the Hamptons this weekend” — and that’s the kind of allure I want in my life 24/7.
Ah, Clare V. — a favorite brand here at TME. While I don’t own any bags myself, my mother does and I can attest that they are stunning in real life. The round silhouette of the Moyen Alice bucket bag feels very vintage and feminine (here’s more stock, and you can add a strap to make a customized look!).
If you’re looking for something a bit more bold? Check out the Clare V. Lil Bebe; the checkerboard and leather accents make it a bag to remember.
Target came in swinging this summer with the bags from their in-house line A New Day. This half moon shape on A New Day’s Handheld Straw Tote Bag is a darling complement to the wooden handles, making this a perfect option for a hot summer-night-out look.
OH, the details on Anthropolgie’s Bali Circle-Handle Satchel are enough to make a girl swoon. From the rounded top handle, to the inner rattan detailing, and the tassels that swing out from the sides, this might be a top contender for a personal favorite from this entire roundup. What sets it over the edge is that its a slightly larger size than this style of bag is typically. It’s a showstopper, that’s for sure.
If you’re looking for a bag to take with you on all of your summer travels, the Casablanca Raffia Crossbody bag would be an amazing choice. The leather detailing makes this a chic option to pair with any outfit, while the crossbody makes it an easy choice for clocking city miles while sightseeing. You can even transition into evening wear by removing the strap and tucking this baby right under your arm like a stylish clutch.
A stunner for under $100, The Sedona Basket Bag from J.Crew puts a summer spin on the very trendy bucket bag. It even has a drawstring closure to keep your wallet and lipgloss secure, and the netting overlay gives off mermaid vibes in the best of ways.
11| H&M Shoulder Bag
H&M’s Shoulder Bag is shockingly chic, and the smallest of all the bags in this roundup. The bag is a mini bucket style with drawstring closure, and you can switch between a top handle or a shoulder strap. The best part? There are four colors to choose from, and the pink is actually epic.
In the end, I think the Paris Farrow Bag from Sezane might be my most favorite. The floral detailing and leather knotted closure is enough to be an outfit-maker while still very humble in appearance. The bag is handwoven and embroidered, and you can choose from a few different colored florals (I can’t decide between the raffia flowers or blush flowers). But HANG ON, there’s a cherry on top…you can actually get the bag monogrammed with gold stamping on the handle.
I think I’m in love.
