The Maternity Sweatshirts You’ll Want to Wear Allll of the Time (Even if You Aren’t Pregnant)

I started wearing maternity tops loooong before I was pregnant (or even married, for that matter).  Because of my small shoulders/bigger butt issue like many of my pear-shaped ladies, finding longer tops was always an issue.  They were either too tight in the hips and/or too loose up top.  And then I discovered maternity tops.  I was perusing Target one day with no specific list in mind (as we all do, amiright??) looking at clothes that I thought were cute.  It wasn’t until I tried on the “tunic top” I had put in my cart that I realized it was actually maternity.  But . . . I mean . . . it was cut longer, a little more generously and looked perfect over leggings.  Who needed to know?

I recently came across the cutest maternity sweatshirts while searching for a cute and comfy top to pair with my new favorite moto leggings.  I love all of the interesting details of Kimi & Kai’s tops like asymmetrical zippers, slouchy collars and versatile (neutral) colors and stripes.  Best of all, they work now, two years postpartum, and will work if/when I’m pregnant again for all four trimesters.

These leggings are awesome.  They have compression to hold you in without being super uncomfortable and have cool moto details like mesh inserts and moto panels.  You can work out in them, of course, but also wear them to run errands or even out to dinner if you want to dress them up a bit.  I’d pair them with a cut-out sweater like this and some statement earrings for dinner or a graphic t and sneakers for errands.

  1. I’m pear-shaped with the added bonus of a long torso. So the layered look is my everyday fashion… I buy Tall t-shirts from Gap, etc., and then I’m good to go with anything else, because almost everything is just a little too short. I had never thought of maternity for length!

And thank you so much for your fashion advice! Not much help is out there for the pears among us so I totally appreciate you (and the blog).

  2. No maternity sweatshirts here, but at 5’10” and long-waisted, I’m still wearing maternity tanks/camis…having long-enough clothes is a wonderful thing! I need to check some of these out 🙂

  3. This shirt is quite convenient, it helps pregnant women look more compact is more important is very comfortable for both mother and child. After giving birth to baby I still make use of it and look good.
