Are you guys getting sick of this sale? I was too . . . but then I perused the merchandise that was left just “one more time” and found some GEMS for my fall wardrobe. Some of these pieces I’m super excited about – really versatile AND budget-friendly. Woot woot! SO glad I went back and looked one more time. As always, comfort and price-per-wear are my top priorities, and I threw in a pic of Zack’s favorites as well.
1. Start Your Fall Capsule Wardrobe with Skinny Jeans, Something Plaid + Tan Booties
A. Skinny Jeans, Classic Fall Sweater + Booties..DONE
These jeans are the perfect dark wash and, like other reviewers pointed out, aren’t super skinny the entire way down – which I like. They fit over sock boots without looking silly and come in regular or petite sizes for the correct length (I’m 5’4″ and wearing a 6P). I love that the sweater doesn’t pull across the belly (thanks to the side slits) and the scarf will be awesome to use as a nursing cover up come fall. But the BOOTS . . . hands-down my favorites. I don’t know how I passed them over the first time!
B. The Borrowed-From-Your-Hubby Flannel
Super soft. I’m wearing an XS and love the longer length (remember I have a huge 8-month pregnant belly now so it’s even longer than it looks – perfect for leggings!). Obviously button-ups are perfect for nursing and I love the yellow and navy combo – especially when paired with this comfy cardigan (that comes in a ton of colors).
2. Add The Core Pieces That Excite You (And Can Be Dressed Up or Down)
A. The Works-with-Everything Jacket(s)
Both of these (real!) leather jackets are amazing. I bought the brown one after reading so many reviewers saying it looked way better in person . . . I agree. It runs pretty true to size – I’m wearing an XS, my typical jacket size. (It also comes in a lighter pinky beige color that looks amazing). The drapey jacket on the right is a bit dressier than your typical moto jacket, which I love. I tried both the S and XS and found that the small worked better. It also comes in burgundy or grey, but I love the classic black.
B. The Interesting Sweater
I love the cut-outs on this sweater. It comes in a ton of colors and the burgundy looks great with the plaid scarf in the sale. I could easily wear the small with leggings (especially when the belly is gone), but if I wanted a more fitted look I’d go with XS. The blend of cotton and nylon feels soft and isn’t bulky at all.
C. The Skirt that Does It ALL
This was another favorite. Most skirts I try have some sort of waistband that’s thick or tight, which drives me nuts. This one is perfect. I’m wearing the petite small here and ordered the petite xs for after pregnancy. You can pull the skirt up or down for length and it’s super comfortable. You can wear it with sandals or booties now and add tall or over-the-knee boots in the fall.
The pink cardigan is lightweight cashmere but super warm . . . and I like the fit even better than the pink cardigan I found in the first round. It also comes in black – and did I mention how soft it is?? I bought this top after reading the reviews about how soft and comfy it is and am glad I found it. The fit is nice and loose around the belly so I can use it for nursing even though it’s a turtleneck. It also comes in a beautiful red perfect for fall.
D. The Updated Neutral Coat
I really wish my belly didn’t get in the way of this one. It’s such a pretty color but I couldn’t get the lower buttons around my belly. BUT . . . I actually love the unique way this buttons up. It’s kind of perfect for pregnant mamas who don’t want to shell out for an expensive maternity coat (as long as you’re not wearing it during serious snow storms or freezing cold). Loved the way it looked with the scarf I bought.
Best of What’s Left for Guys: Zack’s Picks
I had to throw in a few pieces that Zack is loving. This jacket is awesome. It’s super soft (I thought it would be hard or stiff – OMG I heard it, but you know what I mean) and I like the coated finish. The sweater is a great fit, especially with the longer length, and comes in three other colors. (You can’t beat $25 for a nice sweater!) We featured these Vans in our men’s shoe picks and for under $40 we couldn’t pass them up. Zack likes to swap out the laces for different vibes.
