Gosh, it seems like just yesterday I was telling you all about my travel style and my love of comfy flats in my first TME posts this spring. I’ve only had one trip since then, but I’ve finally added early fall travel to my calendar, which means I’m frantically searching my closet for what to wear. I’m pretty good about not overpacking, but when I’m traveling with the fam, a wardrobe for four adds up pretty quickly. I’m all about making sure every item I pack does double duty on a trip and a lightweight sneaker does that so well.
Why I Love My Lightweight Sneakers
True story: Every family trip involves my frantic, last-minute search for a random must-have purchase. Two years ago, it was these Adidas Neo Lite Racer sneakers. I searched high and low for a pair with enough support for moderate exercise, ease of styling with my casual/sightseeing wardrobe, lightweight for packing, and fashionable enough to wear after vacation. The Adidas Neo Lite Racer hit all the marks for me, so it’s no surprise I still wear them all the time. In updating this post, I found that the Adidas Neo line is turning into Adidas Essentials. Luckily, they still seem to have the same sleek, minimalist profile, so I’m looking forward to trying the white pair. My marble soles are about sold out, but the black/white combo is still well stocked. They’re TTS; the stretchy sock upper took some getting used to at first, but it’s pretty standard now and I love it. I thought I could size down a half size because of it, but I stuck with my usual size 9.
And, how cute are these sneaks for running around town? Athleisure is my go-to style whenever I’m out with my family. I love sneakers, but usually opt for dressing them up a little. This little tank dress number is perfect and is 40% off! Yaaas!
Lightweight Sneakers – Adidas – These are a staple when I travel and plan to workout and/or do some sightseeing. And they even look cute with easy, breezy dresses, which is always a win.
Chambray Button-Down Shirt – J. Crew – I told ya, I love chambray! I’m wearing a medium in this top; it’s TTS. I love that it’s lightweight enough to be layered with just about everything this fall.
Black tank dress – Leith – This dress is so easy to wear, but you probably guessed that when I styled it with the sneakers. There aren’t many sizes left in the black, but it comes in six other colors and is 40% off! The dress is TTS, I’m wearing size M.
Crossbody bag – Marc Jacobs (Similar)– Sometimes I gotta give my backpack a break. This sweet little bag is the perfect size for my essentials.
Kate Spade Cat Eye Sunglasses (similar) – These are a few years old, but I’m pretty sure they’re the Jazzlyn style. It looks like Amazon is the only retailer that has black in stock, but the Genice and Nastasi are pretty close, too.
Earrings – Red Giraffe Designs, Etsy – I snagged these drop earrings and bangle from a local jewelry studio to build up my everyday jewelry look. I’m really happy with the pieces. They’re minimal and classic, but still have enough character that I don’t feel bare. I’m so glad they’re adding a location closer to me!
Shop Lightweight Sneakers
I really can’t believe there was a point in my (very young) adult life where I didn’t wear athletic sneakers! What was I thinking?! We can probably all agree that sneakers have come a long, stylish way. I live in fashion sneakers and ballet flats anymore, and I’m not even mad at it! Which lightweight sneakers are you rocking and how do you wear them outside of the gym? Better yet, tag me on Instagram next time you’re styling them up! #AthleisureForLife!
