With the arrival of the ever-fabulous Duchess of Sussex on the scene, I think it’s a fitting time to take a moment and appreciate the Duchess of Cambridge, the one who helped pave the way, and one of the first to walk the Royal Runway — Kate Middleton.
Having been smitten by her ever since she stepped out into the public eye, I suppose I want to “send her a nod”…and what better way to do that than to share her most-loved outfits, and inspire you all to copy them? Imitation is the best form of flattery they say and…yes, while most of us have nothing very fancy to attend to in our daily lives, we can surely get a bit Duch-esque (see what I did there?) with Kate Middleton-inspired outfits…just in more subtle, less formal ways.
Kate Middleton Wearing Dainty Florals
Royal Visit to Poland
A smart floral set looked incredible on Kate. While I’m sure we all love the idea of actually having a place to wear an ensemble like this, the reality is that most of do not. Dainty florals can still be worn, however. It may not be in the form of a dressy set, but could instead be a more casual dress, accessory or even a t-shirt!
Here are some dainty floral options I found…
Kate Middleton Wearing Pale Pink
National Portrait Gallery
The reason this look is so good — the color. That pale pink is phenomenal. The style itself is going to be somewhat difficult for most of us to copy in our day-to-day, but the hue? Not difficult.
Here’s some pale pink that can be added into an everyday outfit (for us peasants ;)…
Kate Middleton Wearing Blazer + Stripes
Royal Tour of Australia
It goes without saying that an outfit with a striped top and a smart blazer is always a good look. Of course, Kate Middleton did them the justice they deserve. Thankfully, this is a look that can very easily be copied.
If you don’t yet have the classic duo, see wardrobe-worthy striped tops and blazers below…
Kate Middleton Wearing Playful Dress
Calgary, Canadian Tour
What a stunning yellow on Kate! Trying to find that exact shade and button style is a bit tricky…almost impossible, really (I tried). However, if we focus-in on the pretty playfulness of her dress, it can be relatively simple to find a similar option.
From short little minis to midi lengths, there’s an option for all…
Kate Middleton Wearing White
Sydney Royal Easter Show
An eyelet dress in white is always classic and pretty…and Kate pulled it off flawlessly. Since it is so very much a very seasonal look, let’s focus on the accessories here — the box clutch & watch. These are two things that, when worn with your favorite whites, help to add more interest.
Consider the below when pulling out your favorite white tee, jeans, dress, etc…
Kate Middleton Wearing Bohemian Inspired Dress
Royal Tour of India
A slightly more casual dress on the Duchess of Cambridge here. Apparently, she fed elephants in this ensemble. Sooo while you may not be on the way to feed exotic animals in India, many of you do have exotic children to feed, 5 million errands to run, and jobs to get done. This boho, relaxed style is the perfect option for looking lovely and being the BOSS LADY you are.
Cheers to Kate Middleton. Thank you for being so lovely! Also, big thanks to the Kate Middleton Style blog, which helped me to track down every one of her outfits.
Cheers,

Find me over on Instagram (@camilledipaola) and say hey! I love visitors and am pretty good at responding to messages. Also, I share a lot more of our messy, crazy life and #ootds on there. It’s a PARTY.
Thank you so much for the beautiful sketches, Madelynne Juenger!
Interesting, but not at all what I expect to see on TME.
I love the red dress from the India tour!
Loved This Article! So helpful! I love the Duchess of Cambridge!
I missed this article back in 2018. Thanks for the shout-out 🙂 I love your illustrations of Kate. Genius!
