I’m always about balance when it comes to my outfits. It’s my favorite way to approach getting dressed. I never feel comfortable in all-preppy, all-feminine or even all-rocker style looks. The most ‘me’ is when I have a mix of these styles all in one. This actually may stem from my need to make things difficult for myself at all times. Ha. Challenge. I love a challenge when it comes to fashion or design.
Florals can often scream spring and summer, but who wants too many pieces you can’t wear all year? Not this practical mom. This mixing of styles comes in handy here to extend the life of your springy floral tops and successfully bring them into the fall season. Hooray!
Honestly, most florals will work. Those with a fall-ish color in the print will be easiest to pull into this look, but you can see below that includes a real range. Black florals are always my favorite, but even bright florals with all black look fall-appropriate.
AllSaints Bales Leather Jacket – Soft, perfectly broken-in with wear, but not stretched. Amazing collar. LOVE. Wearing US6.
Madewell 9″ High Rise Skinny Jeans in Black Sea – Yeah, you’ve seen these before. Still my favorite. I wore out an old pair over a year ago and bought another. They just soften and break-in so well, and fit me to a tee. Wearing 27. TTS.
The Fix Hazel Boots – I’m loving this multi-buckle style for that London/mod/rock vibe I adore. I need a better way to describe that vibe, but that’s it. These look great with dressier ankle pants, too, and could pass for a casual office when you want a little tougher element. TTS.
The Horse Watch – I didn’t wear a watch for a long time, but I recently switched out my brown leather band for a black leather band and I wear this all the time. I love the rose gold details on the face. Super-reasonable for a gorgeous watch, too.
Warby Parker Haskell Sunnies – These are prescription and they are so great. They’re cool, reasonable and they fit well. I’m a big WP fan.
