I’ve Stopped Wearing Birkenstocks Because Of This Shoe

I love Birkenstocks. They’re comfy enough. They’re cute with most outfits, in that casual, Malibu farm sort of way. And they’re easy to slip on and off.

Or so I thought?! Until I found this clog that has seemingly completely replaced my beloved Bostons.

Rothy’s Casual Clogs vs. Birkenstocks: Are These the Best Clogs of 2025?

Maybe I’m being a little dramatic. I don’t think my Birkenstock’s will ever be so replaced that I would donate them. They have a sort of je ne sais quoi that I will always love. 

But when I finally took the plunge to try Rothy’s Casual Clogs, I was a little taken aback. They were arguably more comfortable, even off the bat, than the Boston’s popular “soft footbed”.

I also couldn’t help but take quick notice of the fact that they were easier to slip on. With my Birkenstock Boston’s, the little suede top usually needs lifting to get my foot inside, but with Rothy’s Clog, it’s as easy as stepping into a slipper.

Are Rothy’s Clogs More Comfortable Than Birkenstocks?

In fact, they are so comfy and easy that it has quite literally begged the question from some people, “ARE you wearing a slipper?” 

Maybe I am?

Because Rothy’s Casual Clogs DO make for the perfect house shoe. They are comfortable and supportive for all day wear, minimal enough that I’m not annoyed they’re on my feet when I’m moving around the house, but still help me be better productive in getting chores and tasks done than if I were barefoot (which, to my brain, is full feet-up-relax mode).

But they’re not just a slipper or house shoes. Rothy’s Casual Clogs are made with durable gum outsoles with genius(!) ribbed detailing for traction. Like, really good traction.

And the VERY best part of them?! As if their extra roomy, “EverDreamyFootbed” wasn’t enough?

They’re machine washable.

I’ve dripped salted caramel and flour on them when baking. I’ve gotten sidewalk chalk on them. They have simply collected scuffs and marks from regular everyday wear. I’ve even splashed wine on one of the clogs. And ALL of it has come out in the wash.

Note, I did use a spray or two of Shout stain remover on the wine, lol.

All I do is toss them in the wash with a towel and it’s like magic when they come out looking brand new.

My fancy leathery-suedy Birkenstock clogs?! Could never. 

The amount of times I’ve accidentally ended up at a splash pad in my suede Birks is laughable. With Rothy’s, I have zero care in the world.

As a busy, messy, sometimes chaotic mom (who, yes, takes spontaneous trips to splash pads), these shoes have become my lifeline. They’re so practical and comfortable I find myself choosing them over most shoes in my closet every single day.

Fit Notes: Rothy’s Casual Clogs are roomy. I run between a size 9.5 and 10 in shoes and went with the 10, but there’s a bit of space behind my foot. Not so much that I notice, but enough to show they run on the bigger side of things (you could probably size down if a half size, depending on how you like your shoes to fit).

Their fabric is stretchy to accommodate all sorts of foot shapes, and as someone who loves to wear socks with clogs, these are perfect for any type of sock, making them wearable in most seasons, if not all, depending on where you live!

Final Verdict: Are These the Best Clogs of 2025?

As I said above, I can’t foresee myself ever completely forgoing Birkenstocks. They’ve got the buckle for a little extra texture which can be nice for certain outfits. They’re the name brand clog, if you will. But when talking comfort? Practicality? The no-brainer easy choice for a mom with messy kids (and is, uh, messy herself)? Rothy’s Casual Clogs, all the way. They’ve got my vote for the best clogs of 2025!
