Announcing…Our Spring Style Challenge!!

Hey Gang! Spring has sprung, the grass has, uh…started to grow? Or whatever. My point here is this:  it’s time for a new style challenge. The seasons have officially changed, and there’s no better way to stretch our collective sartorial muscles than by copying each other. We can call it “inspiring one another” if that makes you feel better, but I’ll sleep just fine either way. So for the next four weeks, we’ll come out with a style challenge (one per week) to try and make better use of our existing wardrobes. And if you play along, you’ll be entered to win a $50 gift card to any retailer of your choice.

How To Join In On Our Spring Style Challenge

Every Wednesday, for the next four weeks, we’ll kick off a new Style Challenge. Give it a try, and show us your interpretation. Either post your pic to Instagram (and tag us with @themomedit #TMEStyleChallenge), or, if you must…email us a photo. We’ll feature reader submissions each week right here on The Mom Edit.

Week 1: Show Us Your Best Rainy Day Outfit

April 5th – April 12th

I’m so freaking over my Hunter rain boots, it’s not even funny. If someone has either A) a fun way to wear them or B) another option altogether….I’m all ears.(Eyes?) So let’s try to make April showers a little more interesting and show how we’re rocking the rain gear.

Lole sent over this gorgeous pink raincoat and it’s making my life.

The spring style challenge gives us a l'il style inspo, plus some minimalist & creative vibes...re-style the clothes we already own? Yes, please. Let's go.

Week 2: Wear Head-To-Toe Neutrals

April 13th – April 19th

Think rich caramels, tans, beiges and white — this lux look is HUGE this spring. I had high (HIGH!!) hopes of finding a pair of perfectly refined tan flannel trousers…no luck. Yet. But white jeans count, so there’s that.

Week 3: Mix – or Match – Your Denim

April 20th – April 26th

Denim separates are kiiiiind of a big deal right now. Match them to spoof a suit, or purposely mix it up — both options work! And feel free to think beyond the denim jacket and jeans — skirts, chambray, little denim tops, shorts, even a romper with a jacket?

Week 4: Wear a Barrette (or two) in Your Hair

April 27th – May 3rd

We love fancy little things that are also dead easy. This is one of them. Barrettes are having such a moment this spring, and there are a ton of fun ones to choose from. Slide one in, or layer a bunch. (My personal favs? These.)

I can’t wait to see what everyone comes up with!! You guys always come up with some seriously creative outfits.

  1. Any chance you could do a piece on suggestions for Easter Brunch (at the in-laws, at The Club etc). I live in northeast and find it a tricky season for dress-up. Plus it’s nice to look good but it’s harder to look good when you’re going to be ruining after a 3 year old who is running after a bunny!

  2. Hi Shana, I have never done this kind of thing before, so I was wondering if you could see my post on Instagram?
