There’s been a lot of chatter about these By Anthropologie lace trim balloon pants this year…around our Discord channel and on the blog. I loved them on others, but didn’t think they were my jam for the warmer months. I saw the lace trim pants recently again though and envisioned them styled with boots and a blazer for fall…I was intrigued and had to try them out. (We do also have a whole guide on styling balloon pants, free for Group Chat Subscribers if you’re interested in more!)
Which Color Lace Trim Pants Should You Buy?
But…then I went to Anthro’s site and promptly had no idea which color to choose. These pants come in a bunch of pretty shades…so I ordered three different colors to try out to see what I liked best. And here we are with a full article trying to help me decide which lace trim pants to choose and how to style them into wearable outfits. If you’ve been curious about these parachute balloon pants with the pretty lace hems, too, I hope these outfit ideas are helpful.

Overall, I found the olive green lace trim pants to be the easiest to style up with pieces I typically wear. The red definitely read holiday to me and the navy, while almost great, was a little too blue. If the navy were darker, I think those would be my top pick. And I’m being quite particular here because they are super cute. But what can I say, I’m a color snob and I’m ok with that. They come in a nice array of colors (I’m honestly still confused and wish I’d also tried the brown, the evergreen, and the light blue, too. Lol. Maybe I need a part 2!)
4 Ways To Style Anthropologie Lace Trim Balloon Pants
A bit about the By Anthropologie Reverie Lace Trim Tapered Pants: they’re a pull-on style with a drawstring waist and lots of volume in the legs. The fabric is silky-ish but not too shiny and the lace trim is such a pretty addition to the hem. Most of the colors are also offered in Regular, Tall, Petite and Plus sizes which is fab (though some are selling quickly.) These pretty pants interested me because they’re such a fun alternative to anything I currently have, so I wanted to see how they’d look on me with actual pieces I’d wear.
1 | Lace Trim Balloon Pants With A Black Blazer
Blazer (10) | Pants (M) | Similar Boots | Bag | Strap
This M.M.LaFleur O’Hara blazer is one of my most beloved closet pieces. You may have seen it in my 8 Outfits I’ve Worn On Repeat This Year article that came out last month. It’s the perfect cut and the perfect weight and makes any outfit look instantly chic. I love how it turned out with these pants. A blazer is usually my go-to piece when I want an outfit to feel ‘my style,’ especially when I’m trying out an item that leans a little more romantic than I typically wear. The blazer adds that menswear touch that balances out the lace and the structured jacket to me contrasts well with the flowy, voluminous pants.

This combo worked well with all three colors, and honestly, I think with any color. I love this outfit.
2 | Lace Trim Balloon Pants With An Oversized Graphic Tee
Tee (L) | Pants (M) | Sneakers | Bag
I think it’s safe to say I want just about every pant in my closet to be able to work casually, with sneakers or a tee. I’m a sneaker gal and so I had to try the combo. I like it with the olive pair, and I would totally rock it. As for the red and navy? I felt like those colors looked better with boots, slightly dressier, but not as great with my sneakers with the oversized tee. I showed a couple of pics at the bottom of this post so you can see for yourself. Again, on the fence about the navy with sneakers, but the red? Definitely not, IMO.

3 | Lace Trim Balloon Pants With Cozy Sweaters
Sweater (M) | Pants (M) | Sneakers | Bag
I ordered some cozy sweaters from Banana Republic to check out and I was super impressed. This brown sweater outfit may be one of my favorites overall. I love the cozy vibe and the little touch of lace just makes it feel a bit femme and special. So fun. I went with more of a monochromatic look below with the navy and red, and I’m in love for a bit of a dressier option. These would be great holiday outfits and oh so comfy.

4 | Lace Trim Balloon Pants With An Oversized White Button-Up
For the final outfit combo I put on this seriously smart white button up boyfriend shirt (it has the coolest hidden button options for the perfect no-gape fit AND it’s wrinkle free fabric.) I like it. I don’t think it’s my very favorite outfit combination of them all, but I like the crisp shirt with the flowy pants.

Lace Trim Balloon Pants Outfits I Didn’t Love
Blazer | Tee | Similar Boots | Pants (M) | Similar Jacket | Sneakers
With a specific pant style like this, it takes some trial and error to figure out what works best…for me. But I know sometimes it’s nice to see the process. I hesitate to put my least favorite looks on the internet, but I did want to show a few things I tried but wound up not loving. The above looks have a few too many colors for such a statement pant, and the quilted jacket is just kinda blah with them…too long and too casual.
While these outfits aren’t horrible, they just didn’t quite feel like my style….especially with the red and navy pairs. I much preferred them dressed up a bit. I definitely don’t think I’d wear the red pair casually at all…perfect for the holidays, but not everyday. And I’m not in the market for a holiday-only pant like this right now. The olive green color reads more casual in general, but can also be dressed up a bit. It depends on what you want to get out of the lace pants and what colors you have in your wardrobe.

As always, my goal is to be helpful in these try-ons and styling posts, and I hope that’s what happened here, too!
