Switch Up Your Holiday Style with a Faux Leather Jumpsuit

Ok you guys. If you are a new reader you may not know about my love of overalls. It runs deep. I think that’s all I wore for a whole stretch last year. Whoa. And I think that was the first reader pic I shared with Shana ages ago that started my whole ride with TME. So fun!

Well, I have done it. I have found DRESSY OVERALLS…and I couldn’t be happier or more excited for the multiple holiday parties we have lined up to attend this year because I’m going to be sooooo comfortable. Sidenote: I’ve been dying for multiple holiday parties since we moved to Portland 6 years ago and…this is the year y’all! Hooray!

Some may call this a jumpsuit or one-piece and yes, that sounds way fancier and is probably more appropriate, but um, they’re essentially overalls and I love them. They are faux leather, look great with a variety of tops and shoes and is this a thing? They are waterproof. OMG (DYING LAUGHING.) I’m sure that’s what everyone looks for in their holiday attire. But, well, it’s a plus in my book. And little hands touching mommy’s outfit before I leave the house? Totally wipe-off-able. BAM. Maybe I will start wearing all faux leather. Anyway. Let’s get on to how these are actually so wearable AND chic at the same time.

I felt festive, fun AND comfy in this outfit and while I honestly don’t mind dressing up, I just don’t do it very often. I really love when I find something that feels so me but that works for special occasions. That’s what I think we are all after when we ‘dress up’ yes?

I did have to hem these but it was the easiest thing ever. Here I used hem tape, but there’s a more permanent option of using leather glue that looks super easy. I was worried about getting a piece that needed special attention, but it couldn’t have been more easy to take care of the length. For my height, I turned up the whole cuff and secured it with the hem tape and they’re perfectly ankle length.

Wearing

Free People Vegan Leather One Piece (sold out, but this year’s version is adorable!) – This is an amazingly badass addition to your closet. It’s so comfortable, warm and just rad. The straps are a little long, but are adjustable so I was able to tighten them. Amazingly these are also super durable in the rain! I had to hem it but it couldn’t have been easier with hem tape (or you can also use leather glue apparently – no sewing required) I’ll be wearing them all winter long to various events. They run TTS. Wearing a Small.

Free People Sweet Secrets Turtleneck – This gorgeousness was also super comfy and quite sexy. Personally, I love that my tattoos show through and I love the neck on this. It also has thumbholes, which I don’t know about you but they’re kind of the new pockets, amiright? TTS. Wearing Small.

J.Crew Factory Faux Fur Stole (out of stock but this one is so similar) – Love that this is stunning but cozy warm and makes any jacket look like it has a fur collar. This is the perfect winter accessory I didn’t know I needed!

Halogen Anita Bootie (similar) – Mine are old Nine West, but I love this updated sleek bootie.

Urban Decay Comfort Matte Lipstick in Tampered – Love this lipstick. It’s not too dark for everyday, but it’s darker than I typically wear. It’s about 3 shades darker than my natural lip color and I adore it.

Marc Jacobs Dew Drops Coconut Gel Highlighter – I mixed this with my go-to foundation, Laura Mercier Tinted Moisturizer (I usually cannot stand foundation at all so I only use a tinted moisturizer) This gives you a nice glowy look but it soaks in well and doesn’t leave you looking like you made out with the Christmas decorations.

More Ways To Wear It

This really amazing piece for the holidays is just that…amazing. But nobody wants to have a one-trick pony in their closet. Here are some ideas for styling for the holidays and beyond because I know I want to rock my leather jumpsuit as often as possible…

Keep it understated and sharp with a pretty blouse and pop of color for the office.

I adore this look. Comfy, but chic is always my favorite.

Holiday Date Night

These boots though. They’re just gorgeous. I’ve seen them in person. Pair them with a cozy sweater for a glam but practical date night look.

  1. So cute!!! Thank you for showing a plethora of different styling suggestions! I love eyeing new ways to wear things once they’re in your closet. I just wish I had seen this post last week before I bought the faux leather jogger pants, what a bust those have been ?.

  2. You look phenomenal!!! This whole look is perfect! One question for you…do you find that the stole was difficult to keep in place? I have it also, and it kept coming untucked when I had it on! I’m thinking I may actually pin it underneath next time I wear it. Any suggestions?

    • Thanks lady! Mine has the loop to tuck one need through does yours? It seemed to stay pretty well but I didn’t wear it for a long time. Pinning would totally work I think though.

      • I do have this same one. I did have it on all day for a day doing all the. Christmas-y things in town. Plus, I’m a bit bigger than you, so that might have something to do with it. I am definitely going to try pinning it next time. This look is so fabulous. Killing it, as always!!

  3. This is a fantastic post! I don‘t think I would ever wear this outfit, but it looks SO COOL on you! And it‘s fresh, interesting and edgy. Definitely unexpected. Love this post – extremely well-done!
