Bright, Warm & FUN: Winter Gear We Love

Does it get any more festive than tromping around in the snowy mountains this time of year, y’all? Not for this Oregon gal and fam. Cozy by the fire is great, but it’s that much better after a fun hike in the snow. We recently visited the gorgeous Mt. Hood area and were stoked to find it perfectly snowy — the most beautiful backdrop for a fun Saturday.

Bright Coats & Accessories Make Winter More Fun

If you’re an avid reader, you know I love my neutrals — you’ll often see me in my beloved black and gray. But, this year, the gray days seemed extra long already, and I couldn’t shake the idea of a bright, beautiful coat to get me through. This gorgeous blue is so fun and makes me happy, even on these short, dark days. I’ve been wearing this Basin and Range jacket non-stop. It’s soft, warm and adorable.

Outfit Details

On Laura (me):

Basin and Range Short Down Jacket (s) // This is so soft and warm. I love the colors (especially this bright blue, of course). Fits TTS.

Free People Oliver Henley // Love this top…cute and flattering, but wearable. I have it in two colors. It hits right at the waist but is perfect with high-waist jeans and leggings.

Girlfriend Collective 7/8 Leggings (s) // This is the third pair of Girlfriend Collective leggings I’ve owned, and I can’t say enough about their durability and comfort. They’re nice and thick — and also made from recycled water bottles. YES! Another Pacific Northwest-based company, too. They’re size-inclusive and body-positive, as well!

Danner Stumptown Mountain Pass Boot // I’ve had these for a few months now and they are SO comfortable. They’re high-quality and another Oregon brand I love. You won’t need any other hiking boots ever again. They don’t take ages to break in either, which is great. The Danner Light boots and the Mountain Light boots are two other solid choices I’ve tried and love — and have friends who swear by them, too. TTS.

The North Face Mittens // So cute and super-cozy inside. Run a little small.

Fjallraven Laptop Backpack // We have three of these backpacks and I love them. Sienna has a mini for little day trips, this blue one for school, and I have a black laptop backpack for traveling and working away from home. The laptop sleeves protect well, the fabric is really durable and easily wipes clean. I love that they work for anything from hiking to bopping around town (and we don’t have to have multiple backpacks).

Pendleton National Parks Blanket, Crater Lake // These blankets are classics. The perfect gift whether they match your loved one’s favorite park (mine is Crater Lake) or base the choice on their decor style. They’re such great quality — you can’t go wrong.

On Sienna:

The North Face Coat (runs exactly TTS) // SO lightweight and comfy. Some coats are so heavy on the littles, but this will be one she actually wants to wear all winter.

Dakine Beanie // Another Oregon brand. Yay!

Blundstones // Some of our go-to boots. These hold up really well (we’ve even passed down our outgrown pairs to friends) they’re comfy and work for just about any season. We’ve owned at least four pairs for Sienna now!

  1. Camper and Sienna look so happy! Does he love the snow as much as my old girl Zippy the wonder dog? Wonder if we will get any this year up in Seattle. Your outfits are so fab, btw…

    • Thanks so much, Lois! She does love the snow so much! She had a blast this day. Thanks so much! And hoping we get some snow in Portland this winter, too!
