Fall is officially here!  And this fall means back to work for me. Now, working from home I do appreciate being able to do my design work in my PJ’s occasionally, but for the most part, (as I mentioned in this post early this year) I try to get dressed everyday. It helps me get in the right headspace for work. And, as a designer, nothing gets me inspired more than finding a new favorite color combo!

This fall, the palette I’m obsessed with is navy, black and camel. I put together some favorite items in these colors and paired them with a few great pieces courtesy of Sole Society to round out the look…Join me (and one gorgeous cup of tea).

It’s starting to sink in that getting out of the house to work is a good thing to do…for my psyche and productivity. Getting out and working from a coffee shop, or in this case, my new favorite Tea Bar, helps me focus on work and lets me ignore the messes and chores around the house. Plus, who wouldn’t work better with a delicious matcha latte and rose croissant! I think I’ll head there next for their London fog tea latte (I adore Earl Grey) or a yummy Boba Milk Tea. (My friend Sarah from Nashville visited Portland recently. She makes delicious chai tea and she raved about Tea Bar, so I had to go! Now I’m obsessed. Thanks, Sarah!)

Sweater: Livvy Sweater – Love love this sweater. Cozy and comfy and just oversized enough but not overwhelming. Size Small, for reference.

Pants: Pilcro Vegan Leather Ponte Pants – These are my new favorite fall pants. The ponte fabric in back is so comfy and the vegan leather with moto details on front is amazingly rad. They fit great, true to size. I would consider them mid-rise. LOVE. Size 27, for reference.

Boots: Bowie Bootie (c/o) – These boots are so cute. The cutouts are super flattering and I adore the color of the sole and stacked wood heel to contrast the black. They fit true to size and are the perfect height heel for style and wearability. They also come in a lovely caramel color, too!

Bag: Dawson Shopper (c/o) – This bag is so amazingly soft and the color is perfect. It’s nice and big enough that my 15″ laptop fits easily inside for trips to work outside the house. I do wish it had interior pockets, but without them it is useful for these bigger items.

Earrings: Dainty Front to Back Earrings (c/o) – These are lovely, rose gold and so super lightweight. They also stay put and don’t snag on things. They’ll be perfect to wear with turtlenecks and scarves this winter for that reason. When I’m not wearing studs these are definitely my new go-to earring.

Do you have any new favorite color combos for this fall? Or any tips for making your work-from-home days super productive? It’s a tricky balance, but I’d love to hear your thoughts!

Happy Fall!

A huge thank-you to Sole Society for sponsoring this post! They have seriously great shoes, accessories and more to complete any favorite color palette.  And readers, thank you for your continued support of The Mom Edit.  It doesn’t go unnoticed and is so very much appreciated!

  1. Umm, I pretty much love everything about this !! LOVE camel and black !! And the navy thrown in is surprisingly good. Love the bag so much, and that tea spot sounds amazing !!!

  2. You look gorgeous!! I love this color combination. So chic and classy. One of the Nordy’s sweaters is sold out! Is that the power of TME?? Wow. I agree that coffee shops are the best places to work.

  3. I am pining for a generous camel sweater and am not loving the ones up there. Any other suggestions? I love all of the $500 ones at Nordstrom but that ain’t happening. Four boys. All I’m saying.

  4. Hi Laura–

I am a new Portlander and am falling IN LOVE with my new town. But, I am sorely undergunned when it comes to rain gear! Would love a post on stylish outerwear for the winter! And if I run in to you somewhere here, I will be star struck!

  5. I also own the Anthropologie ponte/vegan leather pants, but I had to size up. They were really tight in my normal size and had no give. I love them, but could barely get them over my thighs in my usual size.

  6. I love the whole outfit, especially those booties! I’m just curious, when you list what you’re wearing and say c/o, like in the case of the Bowie bootie, does Sole Society send them to you randomly, or do you specifically pick those out? Of course if they did just send them to you I know you wouldn’t wear them if it weren’t something you’d recommend, but I’m just curious how it works as I love your style and would actually be more interested in an item if it were something you specifically picked out. I hope this is not too forward a question.

    • Hi Megan! No worries! Yes, I did get to pick out the items from Sole Society and I do try to include any and all of my own opinions on them! I hope that helps. Thanks for asking.
