Happy Labor Day! As it usually goes, we can’t believe we’re already in September. We’ve been in the midst of back-to-school chaos (we just dropped Raines off at college….SOB), while trying to hang onto our last few days of summer. We’d be lying if we said we weren’t excited for those fall days, though. So, that leads us to those Labor Day sales, when we can really start prepping our fall wardrobes, home refreshes and skincare routines.

Start Here: The Very Best Labor Day Sales

- Freda Salvador – Easily the sale I’m the MOST excited about. These shoes have never once failed our team of city-walking girls, and are among some of my most-worn. And this brand is women-owned, too, with serious street cred in shoemaking (using one of the founder’s family-run factory in El Salvador). I can’t recommend this brand highly enough. In terms of shoes on sale…my very top picks are the Jada Woven Ballet Flats in ‘Black Vanilla Woven Calf’…WITH THE MATCHING BAG. If you are a t-shirt and jeans kind of girl…this combo is so freaking good. It’s making all of my slouchy, baggy and/or ripped jeans outfits look seriously elevated. Otherwise, I can also personally recommend the Laurel Ballet Flats. I’d go with the leopard mesh – this is another pair that I’ve walked miles and miles in (and this pair, oddly enough, I end up wearing in the rain, too – they’re not waterproof, but they seem to dry quickly).
- OGEE Beauty – Take 20% off sitewide at this small, clean beauty brand based in Vermont. I’ve used their Contour Kit for years now, and it is…foolproof. It’s the kit I bring to friends’ houses when they want me to do their makeup before going out, it’s the kit I’ve gifted to my mom, to friends, and it’s one I use daily. If you don’t want to buy the entire kit, you can get individual colors here. My two favorites (for my cool-toned skin) are ‘Obsidian’ and ‘Pink Diamond’.
- Cool jewelry from small businesses? This necklace for a lil’ pop of color, a beachy take on pearls, and some wow earrings I discovered in Spain (handmade, hand painted!). These pieces (along with soooo many other good ones!) are already marked down, but you can take an additional $10 off every $100 spent. Thank you for supporting small businesses!
- Still need a sexy, flat sandal that can handle all-day walking, even cobblestones? Ancient Greek’s Lito Sandal saved me in Corfu this summer, and is now 50% off. Incredibly well made, wildly comfortable, with a really good, not-slippery sole.
- Started weight-lifting yet? Me, too. And these Nobull weight-lifting shoes actually make a huge difference. They are completely flat, with a wider toe box so my foot is perfectly grounded, and my form isn’t thrown off. They’re also supportive so I can still do pylos in them without my foot sliding around. The cutest color (pink/pink) is 30% off!
- The Designer Sale at Saks – I’m crushing hard on this quirky Marc Jacobs sweater (the elbow details! the embroidered ‘Joy’!), this Staud dress that is incredibly flattering on (and sooo easy to wear), and this striped dress that is a PERFECT summer-to-fall transition dress.
- Need new jeans? This pair – now 30% off!! – is quickly becoming my most-worn. I already have ‘Dream Nice Dreams’ (a super dark wash), but just ordered ‘Shakey Ground’ (ripped!!) and ‘Counting Bills’. Love the three inseam lengths, too.
- Comfy, Cotton Sweaters? J.Crew’s is the coolest, hands-down. But my longtime favorite GAP sweater is on sale in red or a seriously cool neutral, too. So good. Nothing better to transition to fall.
- Best striped tees, on sale: Madewell, in ‘faded ivory stripe’. Or, if you want something more fitted to wear with baggy jeans, grap their 90’s striped tee. The thicker fabric hides lumps and bumps – even when you size down! (I wear a small in this tee, a medium otherwise.)

Now’s when we really start to get excited for fall, so of course we’re eyeing all the boots, jeans, jackets and cozy sweaters.
