Mamas, my sister (the younger gorgeous blond in the pic above) has an assortment of denim cut-offs that are to die for.  They are perfectly distressed, a worn-in blue that is nearly impossible to find, AND cheap.  Oh, and they come in several lengths, which made them totally irresistible to my own mom.

Now that is grandma style I hope to be rocking someday.

Anyway, Scotti sources her shorty-shorts at two places:  Abercrombie (worn by Scotti and I) and American Eagle (on my mom).

Here are my current favs – which are all currently on sale, BTW, for roughly $25!

Cutoffs

1. A&F Midi Length Shorts in Destroyed Medium Wash, $25

2. AE Destroyed Boyfriend Midi Short, $25

3. AE Boyfriend Short, $25

4. A&F Mid Rise Shorts in Destroyed Light Wash, $29

And while we're on the subject of Grandma style, can we talk about Mom's manicure for a sec?

My mother.  Is wearing hip nail polish. A perfectly grayish-blueish-lavender that I am DYING over.  So fresh and pretty for summer.

This gives me hope, Mamas.  Hope that some day when my kids are in their 30's that I too, will have gorgeous manicures again.  Yessssss.

xo,

S

ps.  As I sit here in my pjs…it does my soul so much good to look at these pictures from June.  I'm feeling pretty darn stir crazy.  One week at a time, I guess…..

  1. What gorgeous pictures! I feel like you read my mind. Last week I was thinking I need some cute denim shorts! And, a few days later you post them. You are the best! I hope you are recovering and taking time to rest.

  2. Gorgeous!! Love the short suggestions too. Cut off denim that is flattering is hard to find. Just ordered some, you all are great models!

  3. Love these pics. You and your sister remind me of my two, one dark hair, one blonde!!! Love the tank on your mom. Any idea where she got it?

  4. You guys are one stylin’ fam! I hope you are on the road to physical and emotional healing, bumpy though it may be.
On a side note… I can not bring myself to give A&F (or sibling Hollister) one penny. I can’t support that sort of a-hole d-bag culture that permeates from the very top to the lowest-but-still-too-cool-to-look-at-you employee in a deliberate effort to make people feel like crap. Who does that??? And let’s not forget about sexualized slogan thongs for preteens and that girl-empowering t-shirt stating “Who needs brains when you have these?” I’m not normally all soap boxy about where I buy clothing, but that company has no redeeming qualities in my mind and deserves every ounce of criticism hurled at them from all sides, be they outraged consumers, doctors, conservative family groups, or workers rights organizations. At least AE’s biggest scandal was getting sued by A&F!

  5. S, I neeeed your tank! Looks great for postpartum pooch hiding and it is super cute! I’m going to have my third baby any day and will be needing to go shopping soon! Where did you get it????

  6. Seriously gorgeous ladies. My sister and I have been wearing the American Eagle ones for years! I bought a pair post-pardum and then a smaller size in 2 washes when they went on sale! They stretch out a bit- but are awesome. Highly recommend!

  7. Cannot even deal with the hipness of all 3 generations of you! You all look gorgeous as ever, but your Mom totally stole the show on this post. Where is her top from? AND I literally JUST bought that exact shade of lavender, but am currently sporting it on my toes. Love it on the nails, will have to switch it up! Tell her the wannabe-hip 37 y.o.s reading your Blog would take style tips from this granny any day!
Best wishes on your speedy recovery, I have been lurking & following & sending my love through cyberspace.

  8. 2 things: 1st, Shana, you are my hero. Seriously. 2nd, I have an aunt who is 73 and super hip. I asked her about her fashion inspiration and she said, “Ya know, why do I have to dress like a grandma?” Please keep your blog going forever so you can help me be as cool when I”m 73.

  9. I so love pics with multiple generations in them – they are beautiful reminders of where we’ve been and where we are going! I think kids love to see everyone together too! I have a cherished pic of 4 generations of females, from my grandma to my daughter, that I love. However, we were not nearly as stylish as you all! Love it! Thinking of you daily – I think we all feel truly honored and inspired that you chose to share your experience with us, and we’re rooting for you every step of the way! Keep rockin’ mama!

  10. I agree about A&F not mention sweatshops! Love the pictures, it’s nice to see older women in hip outfits! Not those matchy animal, fruit and tropical prints that they wear here in Florida.

  11. Spot on Melissa! I’m not overly political in my clothing choices but everything about A&F aggravate me. Even these super adorable shorts aren’t enough to get me to shop there.

  12. You are all gorgeous! I love my American Eagle midi shorts because the length is just right… not Daisy Duke short and not “mom length” either. One thing to watch out for though is that they are pretty fitted in the thigh. If you have larger thighs, they might look like sausage casings on you. They do stretch a little with wear though so I go for a snug fit at first that stretches into the perfect fit after a few hours.
