I’ve hated the “you look so put-together” comment at times because my mind is not put-together at all. I remember trying to change and could not. Now, as a stylist who helps others discover and embrace their unique styles, I know finding ways to look put-together, even in sweatpants, is part of me. So this the lens I have on for this Nordstrom Anniversary Sale.

This year, I’m looking at coats I can throw over leggings and feel chic right away. Boots that, even with my everyday jeans and sweater, give me an edge. I’m stocking up on my tried-and-true setting spray to keep even the minimal makeup flawless (recommended by my sister, who’s a makeup artist), and always a perfect sweater set to lounge in, or wear for my red-eye flights to Colombia.

Before going too deep into my wish list, I have to mention these Hanky Panky Retro Thongs that are not in the collage below. I ALWAYS get them during the sale. They’re very flattering and sexy and cover my stretch marks on days I don’t want to see them. Also, this True and Co lifts bralette, it’s completely seamless and a great option to go wireless.

Is it worth it? I’m looking for a timeless coat to invest in. I love the color and look on the model, so I have high hopes for this Reiss Wool Blend Coat. We shall see.

The asymmetry makes it look so edgy. I can see it with faux-leather leggings and boots for an everyday casual look, but also with high heels, big earrings and good lipstick. Last year I got a similar sweater, and look how many ways it can be styled.

I picture it with the deep red leather jacket on top and the PP84 Low Top Sneakers. I’m not 100% sure about the pants, but I love the sweater. I do have a pair of ivory sweatpants it would go great with. It’s 95% cotton with a touch of cashmere.

In my opinion, a white/ivory leather jacket is as versatile as a black one. It looks fresh for cold weather, and it’s perfect for a spring wardrobe. I was so close to keeping this jacket last year, but with the pandemic, I decided not to. Now I have to decide whether to keep this one or the deep red one.

I won’t be wearing these Good American coated jeans with stilettos anytime soon, but I will try them with sneakers and my Chelsea, combat or lug sole boots. This is one of the key colors in my closet, and I couldn’t resist adding these pants to my wish list. Not into deep brown? Try this pair of Joe’s in a beautiful cyder color.

Did you catch the tan Chelsea boots in the main picture? They’re one of the most-worn boot styles in my closet, and what’s most important is that they’re the ones that work the most with full-length, straight-leg jeans. These FRAME Chelsea boots come in white, black and a whiskey color. And as someone who comes back to this style year after year, I know the cost-per-wear will be low.

Are you team knee-high boots? I am. You can see how they worked better for my short legs than the shorter booties here. These have a slicker sole than mine and are perfect if you don’t like a thick sole like mine. I’ll be trying these on for sure. If you have wide calves, I just saw these waterproof Aquatalia with an elastic back.

Wear as a cover-up now, and over a lightweight sweater, jeans and boots later. I love prints to add some interest to my outfits. I saw a lack of prints this year, but I was happy to see this duster.

I can’t wait to try these on. They’re 98% cotton with 2% of stretch — my favorite denim composition, and the one I’ve found fits my body best. It’s a slim straight leg if you don’t want full baggy or skinny. It also comes in that beautiful blue wash.

My sister is a makeup artist, and last year she taught me how to do my makeup. Among the things she recommended to get was this setting spray. I can’t live without it. I sweat a lot and my makeup is still there by the end of the day. My mother-in-law loves this too.

So, I’m not too fond of Clare V bags, for me. However, I’ve noticed that I like a colored leather bag that I can wear as a shoulder or top handle bag. I wear those a lot and always love the pop of color. This yellow looks gorgeous.

I got a pair of Theas earlier this year, and, I ruined them. I had my foot too close to a fire pit and the sole melted. I cried. I’m not in love with the Thea’s this sale, but I did like this style. I love the metallic touch.

I’m 100% in with the full-length Levi’s. I have the darker wash, but I want to see how these go with my closet. As always, remember 100% cotton gives one to two inches after a few wears. I might size down to get a snugger fit like the model. Please note I’m petite, so I have to cuff/crop them.

You can trust Bernardo for beautiful, good-quality coats that don’t break the bank. I’m in love with the wrap and cozy style, plus the two color options are stunning. I’m going for the brown because it goes better with my color palette.

My two most-worn denim brands are Levi’s and MOTHER. These dark wash skinnies look so flattering and perfect for all the winter boots. I love baggy jeans, but a good pair of skinnies is a necessity in all closets. Sorry, Gen Z.
