Friends. This is what I want to wear everyday all day right now. I don’t know what else to tell you besides that, but this outfit is summery, comfortable (and by that I mean NOT SHORTS), lightweight and best of all easy. And isn’t that what we’re all looking for, especially right now?

My Go-To Casual Outfit Right Now

Cute Graphic Tee + Lightweight Joggers + Sporty-Chic Sandals = DONE

This comfy joggers, t-shirt and sporty (but surprisingly chic) sandals combo is easy to throw on early morning and yet good for all day. Already back to school? THIS. So easy for the morning time when you really just want to still be wearing your pjs. Out and about all day momming or still summering? Works for that, too. Works over a swimsuit, as an easy change of clothes to grab for after the gym…I could go on. It’s sporty but not leggings, it’s lightweight and not too hot or too cold, and it’s gah…apparently I am really in love with this outfit, and I’ll stop now. Let’s get to the deets…

Outfit Details

J.Crew tee (xs)// LOVE. So soft and lightweight in a slub cotton/linen blend feel. Easy to tie at the waist and washes so soft. I find these blend tees from J.Crew run a little big. I like a size down.

Athleta Soho Joggers (2P)// My favorite of all time. I can’t say enough about how lovely this Featherweight fabric is from Athleta. I hope they stock the black again soon, but they are pants that are continually offered, so I bet they will. The navy is great too and in stock, as well as a pretty olive green that would look fab with this outfit. You may remember them from last summer in this post. They are the best for everyday, for travel and they dress up and down so easily… I’ll update when they’re back in stock all around!

Chaco Z/1 Sandals // LOVE this monochromatic update from Chaco. If you’ve ever had a pair of their sandals, you know they last forever. This version I’m adoring because they look way more interesting and chic than if they had the traditional black soles. TTS.

On a momming note, I’ve been majorly emotionally drained lately, and easy outfits are all I can handle right now. Does anyone else have a child who is essentially VERY different from you? I know at age six that’s still a bit tricky to see in a kiddo, but y’all. Sienna and I have a blast but when we don’t we don’t, ya know? We do not operate similarly, and I worry I’m failing at teaching her empathy and respect. I know at six those are big big things to grasp, too, but I just wanna do the right thing by her as a human in the world. Right now it’s hard to see. If you’re dealing with something similar here’s a virtual hug because this shite is hard, mamas.
Many xo,

L

  1. Ah–just wanted to say that I love your posts and the blog over all!!! But I needed to comment on your mom-ing part. I have two girls and one is exactly like me which means that we clash and I am terrified that she doesn’t have empathy and respect too!!! Gawd it is just so hard some times! My other child is so much more like my husband, and as a result it seems like we get along so much better. Ugh–just wanted you to know you aren’t alone. 🙂

  2. 1. I have those same Chacos in the monotone olive and get questions and compliments on them ALL THE TIME (I live in Seattle, so maybe it’s a PNW thing 😉 ) – I want the red too! 2. I have two daughters – one is exactly like me, but amplified, including in all the difficult ways it took me decades to grow out of, and one is exactly like my husband, but amplified, including in all the difficult ways it took him decades to grow out of. Basically, they took our personalities and turned them up to 11, to paraphrase Spinal Tap, and it has been a loooong summer. Hang in there!

    • Oooh love that olive shade! Haha PNW unite over sporty shoes for sure. Love it! AHHH the “like me but amplified” thing. That is a brilliant way to put it. And I’m always down for a Spinal Tap reference. Thanks, mama. xo

  3. First, the easy stuff – love the outfit! I’ve been digging Athleta but haven’t ordered anything so far. Then I saw a b & m store opening near me – yippee! I love Chacos but they don’t work for my feet because I have a low arch. Any other similarly cute shoes you’d suggest? Now, the momming – my son is just like my husband so they clash often and I’m left playing ref which can be exhausting as well! Hang in there, make sure you take the time for yourself and remember they are so little still. A lot of growing and shaping still! ❤️

  4. So how do you think these soho joggers would do in really hot weather? I too hate shorts and am looking for a good travel pant for a vacation to Austin. Do they wash well? I have the metro classic and I loved them at first, but they sort of pilled after a few gentle washes.
The kid thing – I hear you. Empathy is a hard one to teach, at least with my kids. But they got it, eventually. I think. Hang in there, its almost time for school to start.

    • Thanks so much, Ellen. The support is so helpful from a mama who has been here. I tried the metro classic I think and I believe this is a different fabric? I’ve washed these quite a bit and they still look great. No piling. They are very lightweight and besides the dark color would be perfect for hot weather. The only thing lighter pants-wise to me would be like a flowy linen pant or something, but of course that would be a different look! Hope that helps!

  5. I always enjoy your posts! I love the joggers! Honestly, the cost is too steep for me. Would you guys be able to put a under $50 black or dark colored jogger options together? Similar fit/cut, material to the Athleta. It can be Amazon, Gap, Nordstrom? Much appreciated, Thank you!

  6. My kid is eight and he’s just really getting empathy. And the respect thing teeter-totters. My child and I are very different. It’ll happen. Just breathe.
