My Latest Sneaker Obsession: The Greats

Have you heard of The Greats?   They’re a new-ish sneaker brand that was born in Brooklyn, with a direct to consumer model.  Initially they were just a mens’ footwear company (GQ wrote that these sneaks were best for ‘any resident of earth’ haha) but now……they’ve launched a women’s line.  And?

It’s GOOD.

If you follow me on Instagram (@shanachristine), you’ve already seen me swooning over the blush pink color and seriously cushy comfort.  But it’s a sentiment worth repeating: these are very comfortable sneakers.  Like the wear-without-socks kind.  In fact, these might be the Most Comfortable Leather Sneakers I’ve Ever Worn.

Oh, and Mike likes his, too.  (Mikey likes them!  He likes them!)

Outfit Details – Shana

jacket: old James Perse sweatshirt blazer, but this Olivia Moon knit blazer is similar (just size down for a shrunken fit)

tshirt: Maje Tshirt with dot detail (black is sold out, but the red and ivory are on crazy sale!!!!  This is my most-worn date night tee.  So much so that I have both the red and black.  Wearing a size 1 for reference)

jeans: AG ‘The Legging’ in 10 year well worn

belt: old, but loving this white Topshop belt

sneakers: The Greats Royale in blush – be sure to check the sizing chart, the sizing is a little tricky.  For example, I’m a 6.5 (which isn’t offered), but found that the 7 (aka a euro 37) fit much better than the 6 (a euro 36).

Outfit Details – Mike

jacket: Mike’s gotten a ton of wear out of this short, black jacket.  His is long gone, but this Topshop bomber, Express bomber, or Banana Republic Harrington Jacket are all good options for a casual date night (or weekend).

sweater: old Joe Fresh, but I’m loving J.Crew’s classic striped long-sleeve tee for guys.  Not overly precious.

jeans: Jbrand Kane Slim Straight Jeans (decidedly not skinny jeans….but not so wide that they look like dad jeans)

sneakers: The Greats Royale Nero in black

A huge thank you to The Greats brand for sponsoring this post!  I’m always over-the-moon thrilled to find cool new kicks, and these are some of the best yet.  High-freaking five, Greats.  And readers, thank you for your continued support.  It doesn’t go unnoticed, and is so very much appreciated.

I love these but foresee the same problem I always have with sneakers. My feet are huge. I am ~ 5’5″ and wear an 11 or11.5 in sneakers. White banding, and so many other cool features just enhance the clown look. Any suggestions for sneakers that are, ahem, minimizing?

Agreed. I’m a 9.5 or a 10, and I’m pretty confident that I would need at least a 10.5 in these as per Shana’s comments. Oh well.

Really nice looking shoes. I’m curious if your feet are medium or on the wider side? Have you worn Superga brand? If so, how does the sizing compare in the forefoot?

Darn, already sold out in my size (6)! Oh well, I’m on the waitlist.

My sneaker collection has gotten out of control, but Shana, I don’t mind adding one more!! I love your blush pair. And a note about sizing. This is weird, but I’m a perfect 37. Sometimes 6.5 is too small and 7 is too big, but whenever I order a 37…VOILA! Perfect size for me.

Come over to Kremb de la Kremb, and I promise, all you’ll find are ways to style runner/sneakers/tennis shoes–whatever you wanna call them! It’s all I wear. In fact, I’m wearing Van’s Original Old Skool today. ;D

Super cute, will have to get some. Have you tried Allbirds? Amazingly comfy and easy to wear with no socks.
