2019 Anniversary Sale: What Jess Brought Home

The Anniversary Sale is still going strong and it’s gooood. Since we don’t have a Nordstrom store ANYWHERE near Grand Rapids, Michigan (Seriously, what gives??) I was forced to wait, not so patiently, for two days for my items to arrive — but they were all very much worth the wait. Here are my favorites that are still in stock, and as you’ll soon read, I’m keeping almost everything!

My Top 5 Anniversary Sale Picks (I’m Keeping Them All)

1. Good American Good Curve High-Waist Straight Ankle JeansThe Anniversary Sale is a gold mine for updating our fall wardrobe with on-trend shoes & clothes. Silky midis, strappy sandals & jeans (of course).

Jeans -28 | Booties – 7.5 | Gray Pullover – M | Purple Knit – M

One of the big winners for me – THESE ARE A DEFINITE KEEP. I love everything about these Good American High-Waist Ankle Straight Jeans. Besides the vintage inspired details that I’m such a sucker for, like the frayed hem and thick banded side hems, they are also S0 COMFORTABLE. They have the perfect amount of stretch, and they fit SO WELL — like a glove really. I LOVE the ultra-high waist with their signature gap-proof contoured waistband for an ultra-comfortable fit.

2. Topshop Colorblock Midi SkirtThe Anniversary Sale is a gold mine for updating our fall wardrobe with on-trend shoes & clothes. Silky midis, strappy sandals & jeans (of course).

Color-block Midi Skirt – M | Pullover – M | Booties – 7.5

Versatile, functional and stylish, midi skirts are staples in my wardrobe, and are perfect for transitioning from summer to fall. I shun shorts in the summer and love how midi skirts pair with booties in the fall. They are one of the few pieces in my closet that I wear all Four Seasons of the year. This stunning skirt is one of the definite KEEPER items from the Sale — it took my breath away when I saw it. I LOVE these colors so much and they’re the perfect combination for fall. I’m looking forward to pairing it with knee high booties and a cream turtleneck. This skirt is another definite keep.

3.  ASTR Burnout Velvet Bodysuit

The Anniversary Sale is a gold mine for updating our fall wardrobe with on-trend shoes & clothes. Silky midis, strappy sandals & jeans (of course).

Velvet Bodysuit –  M | Skinny Jeans – 28 | Heeled Sandals – 7.5

This retro-inspired burnout velvet pattern bodysuit is GORGEOUS in person. It looks fancy, but it doesn’t feel fancy. I love wearing bodysuits because I only really wear high-waist denim (the higher the better) and they’re so much more convenient than other tops that require constant re-tucking in and often cause unseemly bulk around the waist. This look surprised me by being one of my favorite looks of the whole sale, because I didn’t expect to also love the jeans so much as well as the heels (which I also am keeping).

4. Topshop Oversized Knit

The Anniversary Sale is a gold mine for updating our fall wardrobe with on-trend shoes & clothes. Silky midis, strappy sandals & jeans (of course).

Knit Sweater – M (Oatmeal Only) | Jeans – 28 | Booties – 7.5

I just couldn’t NOT get this vibrantly gorgeous chunky knit from Topshop. I think I’ve found my new favorite sweater for fall. I love the bold color and the soft chunky knit. Besides the amazing color, I also love the fit. It’s the perfect cropped length that makes it easy to tuck into skirts and high-waist jeans without any unwanted bulge —  I’m also a fan of the oversized v-neck, which adds to the flattering silhouette.

5. Something Navy Cream Midi Skirt

The Anniversary Sale is a gold mine for updating our fall wardrobe with on-trend shoes & clothes. Silky midis, strappy sandals & jeans (of course).

Midi Skirt– M | Pullover –  M | Heeled Sandals – 7.5

This skirt is just gorgeous in person. The fabric is GREAT quality and it’s super soft. I really loved this skirt, the quality is outstanding, the only issue that a few reviewers on Nordstrom’s website had with the skirt was that it does run SMALL. But if you order one size up you will seriously have no complaints.

My Favorite Nordstrom Anniversary Sale Shoes

1. Sole Society Pointy Toe Booties

The Anniversary Sale is a gold mine for updating our fall wardrobe with on-trend shoes & clothes. Silky midis, strappy sandals & jeans (of course).

Sole Society’s Lanette Booties – 7.5 | Pullover –  M | Jeans – 28

Out of the three pairs I ordered (well, actually I ordered four pair of shoes, but they only sent me ONE bootie in that box???),  I was most excited about these booties. I love the color and any bootie with as  d’orsay/cut-out design. They just look so good and they go with almost everything I tried on.

2. Cole Haan Sock Booties

The Anniversary Sale is a gold mine for updating our fall wardrobe with on-trend shoes & clothes. Silky midis, strappy sandals & jeans (of course).

Cole Haan Maggie Booties – 7.5 | Pullover –  M | Color-block Midi Skirt – M

I really love the color of these Cole Haan Booties. Jonathan has made me a convert to all Cole Haan footwear because he basically has all of the men’s styles.

3. Vince Camuto Corlina Ankle Strap Sandals

The Anniversary Sale is a gold mine for updating our fall wardrobe with on-trend shoes & clothes. Silky midis, strappy sandals & jeans (of course).

Corlina Ankle Strap Sandals – 7.5 | Velvet Bodysuit –  M | Skinny Jeans – 28

A surprise favorite and a surprise KEEP.  I ordered these mainly because I needed some dressier shoe options to go with the fancier items I ordered from the sale, but since I really only wear wedges most of the time, I didn’t have high hopes for how I would like these. First of all, I LOVE the way they look on, I feel ….(dare I say it) a li’l sexy! My other concern was that they would be uncomfortable and I’d wobble around in them, but I left them on for the rest of the night! I’m seriously thinking of getting a second pair in one of the 20 or so other great colors they come in! So worth it!

  1. Hey Rebecca! I actually ordered half a size up and they were too big for me, especially around the ankle area where the sock part is supposed to fit snuggly. BUT disclaimer – I have super narrow feet! I hope that helps!

  2. Ahhh, what a wonderful post! Can’t wait to try the cream midi; awesome gathering of versatile outfits. Thank you!

  3. I ordered that stunning color block skirt as well- but alas, it fit me so awkwardly as bias-cuts often do. Why is that, and can someone explain bias-cut to me?? It looks gorgeous on you- enjoy that beaut!!

  4. FYI, there is a sensor on that purple sweater! When you call about the missing shoe, let them know about that, too…

  5. Hey Susie! I saw that! They left the sensor on my black jeans too! Pretty annoying, especially since I wanted to keep them and now I’ll have to send them back!

  6. Just when I thought that I was strong enough not to order anymore Anniversary Sale items…ha! You look fabulous!

  7. Hey Heather, that’s a great question! Bias cuts can be tricky. This website sums it up better than I can: https://youlookfab.com/2019/02/19/the-bias-cut/

Basically, the cut adds flexibility and easier movement to non stretchy fabric like satin. The end result is a flowy, drape-y silhouette that also contours and hugs the body…

My trick for wearing bias cut skirts is to wear it as high up on my waist as possible, like way above my belly button so that it doesn’t hug as much around my belly area – don’t be afraid to Steve Erkel it.

  8. Did you end up keeping the gray Leith sweater? How does the material feel? I’m considering picking it up (if it’s restocked in my size).

  9. Hey Lori!
Yes, I did keep the gray Leith sweater, it is REALLY soft and so affordable I couldn’t resist!
