Ah…New Year, new goals of trying to get butt off of couch and work out. I try to eat healthy most of the time and try to be generally active, but I’m not the most disciplined when it comes to exercise. I adore yoga…when I remember to do it. I love a quick, tough workout like 21 Day Fix or Bikini Body Mommy workouts, but one must actually remember to do said workouts on a regular basis and this is where I fail. Right now my daily(ish) workout is dancing around the house with Sienna and I’m ok with that. We have some really good dance parties (picture a mix of ballet to songs from “Frozen” with some booty shaking to Notorious B.I.G. – I know! So fun.)

I digress…GUYS. There are so many good activewear lines out right now that are making me want to workout more. Everyone has jumped on board…even Anthropologie! There are about a million options to choose from and these are just a handful of my very favorites. Seeing as it’s winter, I stuck with warm, longer pants for the most part and there are some fabulous choices.

Colorblock

There are some seriously cool color block leggings available right now. I mean. Rad. These are a few favorites, but I’ve included even more in the boutique below.

Free People Mantra Legging – Lovely. Free People is killing it right now with their new movement line. SO good.

Outdoor Voices Gradient Legging – This brand has some fabulous color combos…those blues + maroon? Yes.

Urban Outfitters Tully Lou Parna Legging – I love the mix of color blocking and mesh on this pair. It gives them a look of armor. Love.

Mesh Inserts

Moto Legging – These are in my top favorites of the bunch. Subtle mesh inserts, but really cool moto details.

Express Color Block Mesh Inset – These are so so cool and add just enough detail to otherwise easy-to-wear black leggings.

Pro-Tidal Dri-fit Capri – This is a great pattern and mesh combo…speaking of patterns…

Patterned

Express Camo Grid Print – Very cool and would be great with an oversized black sweater for post-workout.

Anthropologie Aquaflora Leggings – I mean, I had to include these.

Showtime Women Printed Compression Pants – This print is rad. I’m not familiar with this brand, but they have some awesome colors and prints going on.

Space Dyed

I’m apparently super into space-dyed leggings right now. There are some lovely options out there.

Bonas Women’s Ombre Three-quarter Tights Capri – Amazing colors! Upon further inspection, they may not be technically space-dyed, but close enough.

Free People Luna Legging – Pretty sure I want to live in these.

Live-In Slim Fit Leggings – Great reviews. Pair with a gray top or sweater…lovely.

Other Pant Styles

Free People Infinity Legging – I adore these. The cutouts are just right. Again, FP, doing it so well.

Anthropologie Twist Away Capris – These look cool. I think the slouching at the bottom would be flattering.

Nike Gym Vintage Capri Sweats – I have these and love them. They are super soft. Be careful of sizing. I’m usually a S-M and I’m glad I got the medium.

Shorts

Ok, so I did include a few shorts for those of you doing heated workouts or working out indoors…or those of you luckies who live in warm climates. These are all easy to throw joggers over for venturing outside. The pair from Adidas look great. I may get some for summer.

adidas Performance Women’s Techfit 3″ Tight Shorts – Love. They come in a variety of colors.

Under Armour Women’s Heatgear Printed Shorts – These look good, too, and come in a ton of prints.

New Balance Print Running Shorts – Love these…again with the teal. They come in a great black and white print, too.

Styles above and more

Do you have a favorite workout pant? Do share.

I’m now off to shake it a bit with my little gal…I find the otherwise superbly difficult hour of 5pm is the best time for dance parties.

Until next time…

  1. I’m curious which of these pants you’ve actually worked out hard in. I’m specifically wondering about the Anthropologie pants. For me, color and style are only half of the equation when it comes to workout gear. I also want to know how it performs, i.e. does it leave weird sweat stains, does it smell, does it ride up (or down), etc. If Anthro is charging $98 for workout pants, I’m wondering if they really are that good, compared to say Lulu, which charges just as much (actually more) but invests a ton of money into research and design.

  2. Yes I only buy workout leggings with a drawstring so I can run outside without the neighbourhood seeing yank them up without breaking my stride!

  3. All of Athleta’s high rise styles are the best for working out and daily wear for me. They have a sweat in guarantee, so you can wear to workout, and if you don’t like, return them no questions asked. I’ll pay the moderately high price for that! I have three pair of their high rise (chaturanga, sly drifter, and mesh insert one) and just gave away every other brand and type I owned, as I only wear these three!

  4. Have you checked out Sweaty Betty? I recently found them and have bought a great top and arm covers from them. Their pricing is similar to Lulu Lemon, and the pants are really beautiful with great color styling.

  5. Lululemon hands down, makes my favorite workout pants. The Run Inspire tight is an awesome compression pant with a comfy wide waistband that is not low rise. I know a lot of people balk at the prices at Lululemon but I honestly believe you get what you pay for. I’d be weary of shelling out $100 on a pair of Free People or Anthro workout pants. I know what I’m getting with Lulu. I’ve had some pair of Lululemon pants for over 5 years and they still hold up!
