It’s that time of the year — when the internet loses its mind for a few days and we get to stock up on some seriously good deals during the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale. This year was the first time Mom and I actually went into the store to shop, and we had the BEST time. It was like a throwback to those days before online shopping when we spent all day together at the mall. The only thing missing was Shana. (But she has her own coverage right here.) I found my new favorite jeans (multiple pairs, actually), a comfy sweater and some fabulous heels—and of course, my favorites: faux fur and moto jackets. Here’s what I found:
1. Let’s Start With Denim
The denim was by far and away my favorite part of this sale. Saving that much on premium denim is awesome. I loved everything from the flares to the skinnies to the boyfriend jeans . . . here were my favorites:
A. My Favorite Skinnies
These AG jeans were my absolute favorites. They’re skinny, but with a straight cut at the ankle. You know those skinnies that are super tight all the way down? You can’t really roll them without them bunching and looking weird, but then they have to be the right length . . . and don’t get me started on the sock situation. I love that these are skinny in the leg, but straight below the knee. They look good with both boots and heels. LOVE.

B. The Most Flattering Flares
I guess given my love of all things Good American, I can’t really be surprised that the Good American Good Flare jeans were my favorite flares. They are super high-rise (like I could wear a cropped sweater with no fear of accidental flashing) but stretch for comfort. They might be just a tad long on me, but I could just cut the bottom cuff off and they’d be perfect. (Although I don’t really mind them being a tad long, I guess.)

C. Boyfriend Jeans + Comfy Heels
I thought I would hate these jeans. They’re not typically my style, but these AG Ex-Boyfriend jeans were perfectly slouchy without being sloppy. They’re super-comfortable and I kind of fell in love with the relaxed style. I liked offsetting their “boyfriend-edness?” with cute comfy heels. (Both of these heels are comfortable — a lower heel and open at the arch so they don’t rub the inside of my feet.)

2. Or Maybe these Exciting Orange Pants
Another pair I had no intention of liking. Until I put them on. These are gorgeous pants and work especially well for curves – they fit at the waist and had enough room for the booty and hips. The sash tie is completely removable, so these work with tucked-in shirts and long ones. I also liked that they work with a variety of footwear. These were definitely a favorite find.

3. Wear These Cropped Wide-Leg Pants Now & Into Fall
OK, so I guess maybe I have a theme going here . . . another pair I was like, “no” before I tried them. I like the way these cropped wide-leg pants look with boots, heels and sandals, and especially the monochromatic look I tried with the Free People tunic. It’s kind of a refreshing break from the leggings and long sweater look. They come in a bunch of colors including camo, a darker red and mustard yellow. These are a fun pick for pants you can wear now and well into fall.

4. Top 3 Animal Print Pieces
I am obsessed with animal print! (Although looking at that last picture now, I probably wouldn’t pair snake print pants with leopard print shoes . . . back away from the prints, Scotti!) But a little animal print can liven up an otherwise pretty basic outfit and there are a TON of options in the sale. These were my top three.

5. My Favorite Kind Of Cardigan
If nothing else, you should buy yourself a Barefoot Dreams cardigan (or blanket) during this sale. They are so ridiculously soft and if you’ve never felt one, I promise you will love. The coziest, softest cardigan I’ve ever owned (including cashmere). These also make a great gift . . . especially if you pair them with the UGG slippers that are on sale for an amazing price. (Christmas gifts! Zack, if you’re reading this . . . I love that coral color.)

6. This Free People Sweater!!
My favorite sweater from the sale. I bought both colors from the store (there’s more online!). It drapes so nicely and works with everything from cropped pants, to skinnies to flares . . . and I’ll wear them with over-the-knee boots too. LOVE these.

7. Affordable Outerwear Upgrades
If you’ve been reading for a long time, you know how much I LOVE faux fur and moto jackets. And there’s no shortage of fun options in the sale. Here are my top 5 picks:
A. Faux Fur
Halogen
This coat is amazing. Super soft, comfortable and warm. This is definitely an outfit-making statement piece. LOVE love love this one (and the price!). Oh, and it has pockets! Available in regular and petite sizes, I’m wearing the regular xs here.

Mom and I both tried this one on and loved it. It’s such a fun fuzzy coat to wear. (Sidenote: It’s also nice to hug someone wearing it!) It’s super soft and snuggly, and has pockets. The cropped length is perfect.

B. Faux Leather
Kut from the Kloth
You guys have to check this one out in the raisin color – it’s perfect for fall. They didn’t have an xs in store, but I found this one and really like the faded taupe color. It’s a boxier cut, but in a good way, so I can actually zip it closed. I like the structure and fit of this one. (And I couldn’t pass up this camo sweatshirt—super comfy and lightweight and not too high in the neckline, so it’s perfect for summer.)
jacket – xs | sweatshirt – S | jeans – 4, run one size big | booties tts
BB DAKOTA
This one is super comfortable with rib-knit sleeve panels for stretch and it’s unlined so it feels more like a shirt than a structured jacket. I love the drape (and it’s also in grey and a light tan color) and the feel of the fabric.
jacket – xs | henley – S | jeans – 27, run one size big | heels tts
[BLANKNYC]
This is such an easy, comfortable moto jacket. It’s not stiff or tight and it comes in regular and plus sizes and also in grey and red. (And it’s under $60.)

8. Don’t Miss These Cute Sneaks
Sneakers were once decidedly not my thing but now I have no idea how I wore all heels all the time. My feet hurt. These are comfy. I love the retro vibe and the fact that they’re red without being too red . . . no Ronald McDonald feet here.

RIGHT sweater – M (mom’s favorite pick of the sale) | jeans – 27, run one size big | sneakers tts
9. This Lace Dress
Remember this lace dress I love? The one that’s perfect for weddings and comes in a ton of colors? It’s part of the sale and you can snag it for under $60. (I sized up to a medium and it was perfect.)
10. Bonus: Nana’s Picks
My mom was with me and we had so much fun picking out all this stuff. She’s loved the cropped sweater (that isn’t so cropped on her) and the jackets. We’re still searching for her “perfect” jeans but both shoes went home with her. The leopard print heels are an especially fun way to add a little something to a simple outfit—we both took those home.

Seriously amazing your beautiful great clothes love ❤️
Love these options! I’m a 28 waist too, so nice to see what it may look like on me. The bonus Nana pics are awesome!
I love your picks! AG Jeans are some of my favorites and I’m so happy to see the Sam Edelman leopard print heels are included. I have a pair from a few years ago that are my most worn dress shoe by far, but I need to get them re-heeled. Maybe I’ll just upgrade instead! Love your, and Shana’s (slightly overwhelming) selections from the sale! So good!!!
Love all your looks! Thanks for doing all the digging. ?
What about the jeans on top with all those Nordstrom bags 🙂
Unrelated to your great recs, you are looking great, girl! And your mama? I cannot take it!!?
You Mom is the best! More Nana!
Love all of your picks! Especially your cute take on styling the more comfy/mom stuff. Question: where are your earrings from? So cute.
Hi! Can you use a different card when purchasing during early access this year? Thanks!
You look amazing Scotti!
I love seeing your mom’s style and smile here.
You look great! Please include more of your mother. Your mom has great style and as an “older” reader I loved that you included her. She should have her own dressing room selfie post. XO
Scotti!!! You have fans in MKE! Let us (ME! ha!) know next time you’re in town. Looking great mama!
Mom Editors- I want a faux leather moto jacket, but I am long waisted. Which one do you recommend?
